“You wanted to know all the ‘what ifs,’ you wanted to know what laid beneath the rabbit hole...”
Ben? He never broke his back. Without the injury to bring them together, he pulled away from Julia, Gabe, and Alex. The friendship didn't last long without him there to hold it together, so they all went their separate ways. He ended up enlisted in the Marines, killed in action during an airstrike gone sideways.
Felix? Carla couldn't keep him on the right side of the tracks. Instead of working toward a military career, he fell in with the wrong crowd and got stuck there. He was locked up two years ago for a murder he didn't commit, they tried to appeal, but his record was against him.
Julia? Without the boys around to have her back, that biting sense of self confidence never blossomed. She had a fleeting career in Hollywood and ended up married to her high school sweet heart Billy Sanders. Word around the grape vine is that he isn’t nearly as nice when it’s just the two of them.
The Pups? The head of Secret Service wasn’t as impressed with their antics as Felix would have been. They were let go and transferred to a specialized FBI task force soon after. The cases tore their families apart, in the end they weren’t left with anything but some case files, some scars, and each other.
Sheila? She still made it into the Secret Service. She’d only been on three years when they lost the President on a blustery spring day in Chicago. It was the last year of his term when that bullet took him. She spent years trying to find the shooter, the constant investigating and paranoia cost her, her marriage, her happiness, and eventually her job.
Wesley? He was on the other line when Ben’s unit called in for air support. His commanding officer relayed the wrong coordinates and he listened to the blasts that took Ben away. Three days later he was court marshaled for insubordination and dishonorably discharged for speaking out against his supervisor.
Vince? Well, Vince became President. It was too bad that the annual Presidential check-up didn’t include an MRI. That Christmas was the first time in history that the Speaker of the House was actually inducted as President, with Vince and his VP blown away in a fit of madness.
“Don’t go looking down the rabbit hole, Bunny, it leads nowhere worth being...”
The Pack
Two sides of the same coin.
Their eyes locked, and Felix saw nothing else. Just Ben. Ben alive and reasonably well and looking perfect as usual, getting closer and closer as he ran...
There had never been a sound as loud and final as that gunshot.
"Hello Mr. President...I think you'll find I have something that belongs to you."
Vincent Stockwell, Vice President of the United States of America

"...he flipped the lid and nearly dropped it, sucking in a breath like he’d been sucker punched. The blonde shot Felix an incredulous glance before fixing his baby blues on the coin sitting on the plush velvet cushion..."
"I knew those two were going to make for a fantastic headline some day." - J. McNally
"It took forever to get those two together. Literally a full fledged assassination attempt is what finally made that light bulb go on." - N. Jenkins
"I took a bullet to ensure their love...wanna see the scar?" P. Crenshaw
"Santa Clause must have finally gotten my letter, I've been asking for a nice young man for Benny since his twentieth birthday. That year the jolly old man finally delivered." - C. Barnes
"I'm sure the whole nation remembers my little stumble during the inauguration parade. Felix was the first one at my side, scraping me off the icy asphalt like a presidential pancake. If I didn't know then that I was gonna fall loafers over bow tie for him...well I definitely knew once he smuggled in my pet duck, it takes a special kind of guy to sit in an elevator with a cranky feathered friend while his charge has a claustrophobia induced panic attack and still come in to work afterwards. I mean, I was pretty high maintenance and Felix never so much as batted an eye. I love him, I probably always did, even if it did take some spilled taco sauce and bullet wounds for me to say it out loud." -B. Barnes
