#when ted wants to cheer robin up#he does a big fat gesture#and gives her a cuddle and basically babys her#wheras when barney wants to cheer her up#of course OF COURSE he’d hold and hug her the second she asked#but that’s not his style he knows that she doesn’t need to be coddled#she’s a kickass woman#and she can get herself out of any rut#she just needs a bit of self belief#he does stuff that he knows will get her back on her feet#he knows telling her she’s lost her mojo#will bring back her mojo with 1000 times more pow#he knows that you don’t always need a light show and a blue french horn to cheer someone up#just telling her she’s awesome and putting his arm round her will do#it made me actually laugh at this premise that barney isn’t honest enough and apparently ted is#so much of what barney does for her comes straight from his golden little fucking heart#ted often does stuff and wants recognition#he couldn’t even keep his locket thing secret#he wants displays#i’m not saying it’s a ‘bad thing’#but he wants credit for what he ‘does’ for her#barney on the other hand#do you think he ever told her he tackled ted so she’d win the race?#nope#do you think he ever told her he packed away all the rose petals so she wouldn’t feel sad?#no#even though he was breaking right then#and how many years did he keep their memory box a secret huh?#barney knows robin like nobody’s damn business#swarkles
