  Youd Sinh is a former political refugee from Southeast Asia and lives in Seattle, Washington, who holds a bachelor’s in liberal studies, a master’s in education, a doctorate of practical ministry in biblical counseling, and a Ph.D. in psychology. He is a marriage and family counselor, trained parent-teen mediator, language development instructor, founder and president of Mien Family for Christ, Mien language teacher, translator, interpreter, editor and conference speaker.

Top Customer Review: Don't be fooled by the header. This book dives deep into the history of the Mien culture, and uses that prospective to share about the different generational Mien responses to culture. The detailed study from belief system, to men and women roles, and even children, represents the Iu Mien in a way that brings color to this culture that seems to have been hidden from the world.

I used this book to learn about my culture in order to teach others about trends and traits about the Mien Culture. In the midst of that, this book has helped me grow a deeper understanding and appreciation towards the heart of the Mien in generations past: their history of hardships, reasons for their pattern of though and expressions, their generational gap, their assimilation to American culture, etc.

I would suggest this book for anyone who would simply want an in-depth study of the Iu Mien culture. But of course it's also made with helpful recommendations for couples, counselors, therapists, researchers, pastors, and even laymen to help apply the book in tangible ways. - Mary Yang
