the thing about bastille is that they write pop songs. and the other thing about bastille is that they write pop albums about the world falling the fuck apart that continue to hold up
unfortunately i listened to a lot of bastille in high school so i will be like this forever
I found out today that some people don't know why the ampersand exists and so I thought I would explain it here because why not. By the way this is an ampersand if you weren't aware: &
As most people know it is a way to write the word "and" but most people don't realise that it actually came from the merging of the letters in the word "et" (meaning and in latin).
So the ampersand is literally just a shorthand cursive for the latin term for and, but the reasoning behind the name "ampersand" is also a shorthand. When it first started getting taught, it would be taught alongside the alphabet, so teachers would say "abc....xyz and per se and". So the term "and per se and" eventually got shortened into ampersand and that is how the ampersand came to be.
Just jumping on here for the first time in a while to post this. Enjoy!

Listening to Bastille at 14 years old is like:
“Wow, this music sounds really cool and these lyrics are really heavy and sometimes depressing. I don’t entirely relate or completely understand what Dan is talking about, but I can tell it’s important!”
And then growing up and listening to Bastille at 24 is like:
“I have experienced all of these emotions of loss, love, existentialism, and grief and now I finally understand what Dan is talking about. Every lyric is a gut punch and another reminder of what I’m going through as an adult”
@willstille
bad blood by bastille was literally insane. a song about Pompeii AND a song about Laura palmer AND a song about icarus. things we lost in the fire???? wtf was this guy on. possessed by a modern day library of alexandria. daniel in the den.. bro experienced one single past life regression then asked david lynch to interpret it

“A few years ago, I was thinking about touring, music, releasing albums and how it was maybe not that fulfilling for me. I felt my brain was rotting a bit. There’s only so long you can spend on tour doing a similar thing every night. I thought about packing it in, requalifying and doing something else.”
