"the sound" is THE first song of Young Distractions. before the band came together this song had been bouncing around in my head after a(n) (un)healthy dose of heartbreak and mid 80's Soul Asylum records.
obviously until all three of us made our mark the song was just some words and guitar chords, and now its well on its way to being some grooves in a piece of wax.
that being said, this finishes side a of our upcoming 12".
for all you Messengers out there, Young Distractions will be playing the after party of the Milwaukee Messenger Invitational this year on Saturday April 14th. you may also get fucked with at the CMWC/Young Distractions checkpoint. just saying. however for those of you in attendance we will have a special treat for you to take home with you...

this was one of the first songs written for our first rehearsal as a band. the first time we played this together i knew that Young Distractions were on to something.
should be about two weeks before the test pressings of our 12" arrive. can't wait to hear these songs with the needle scratching and all.
i wonder what color they will be??

as the masters for our upcoming 12" are being handled, tested, and pressed by the good folks over at United Record Pressing, Young Distractions want to turn you on to what's in store.
vinyl usually takes about a 6 week turn around before we will have the final product in hand. conveniently we have exactly 6 new songs to dump on you.
each week we will be putting up another track for you to stream and rock the fuck out to.
so this week we are hitting you with side a track 1... "dropout."

12 hour 12 inch (sorta)
Young Distractions crashed Otto Pilot Studios on Saturday to track our upcoming 12" E.P.
With the help of Michael Lux, Colin Mulhern, and Otto Roeser we layed down the tracks for 6 new songs that we send out to press in two weeks.
As the day went on we saw visits from various members of the Bad Sons, ripped some killer pizza, and got some guest vocals from Otto's dog Splinter. At the end of it all we walked away with what is sure to be a killer vinyl release.
Young Distractions don't want you to waste your money on a CD thats going to live in MP3 form on your Zune or whatever the fuck. If you are going to spend your hard earned on our music, we want to give you something special. The 12" will be on randomly colored vinyl with different limited edition album covers from artists we think are boss. As usual, all the songs we record will be available for FREE download for those of you living in the digital world. But for all you analog junkies and the like we offer something more. AKA we think you should buy the vinyl anyway.
Come see us at the Beat Kitchen on April 5th and we'll tell you all about it... if you buy a t-shirt.
