He nods, not denying her of such simple pleasure. This was to be her home now and he is determined to give her as much comfort as she requires. Whatever she requests of him, he will not deny it.
Still, her question makes him chuckle and he shakes his head, emeralds focused on the gentle waves.
“No,” he answers. “Father sold them not long after mother died. Said that he’d only kept them for her sake, because she’d grown quite attached to them. I always thought it cruel, keeping such magnificent beasts locked away like that.”

“My lady, perhaps you might allow me to put my arms around you, for warmth? I swear to you, I shall do no more than hold you.”
SHE STAYED SILENT FOR A few moments after hearing the offer, dark eyes narrowing suspiciously as though she were questioning if jaime had ulterior motives or not. eventually, she stopped throwing around her doubts and fears. she was cold --- she could not lie about that. if he wanted to something, he would have by now, iren also told herself. there was no one around --- it was just them. it did not make sense for him to ask before hurting her.
“ that is fine, ” she answered, eyes still fixated on the dark waves lapping against the sand. she was tense, stiff as a board even, when she felt him wrap his arms around her, much like how she laid beside him the night before in their chambers. she supposed she should be grateful --- she had been given a husband that asked for permission instead of just doing what he wanted to.
“ i was only wondering, ” iren continued, her stiffness fading as she spoke. “ grandfather . . . he always talked about how the house was founded on defeating a lion. ” my grandfather saved your grandfather, she thought. she imagined grandfather would be over the moon with her marrying a lannister if he were still alive.
