Panel one: Bruce stands in between Lucius Fox and unidentified doctor in front of a crowd of reporters.
"Mr. Wayne is here as a concerned Gothamite. He's here to see what he can do to help the city recover from this epidemic [the Clench]," Lucius says.
"Give us a break, Fox. This is a photo-op for him, one of the reporters near the front says.
"Bruce Wayne has never sought the limelight," Lucius replies.
"What's he got to say about it?" one of the reporters near the back asks.
Panel two: Bruce looks startled as several microphones are shoved in his face.
"Um...well...we've all got to do what we can. I cancelled my annual vacation in Europe because of this terrible turn of events," Bruce says.
Panel three: A close-up on Lucius's face as he puts a hand over his mouth and looks up the heavens while Bruce continues to speak to reporters behind him.
"Typical, Bruce. Open mouth, insert Gucci loafer," Lucius says.
"You remember you're a kid...and I won't treat you like one."

Page one, panel one: "I change the subject," Tim's narration box reads.
"Listen, did you mean what you lipped to that lieutenant?" Tim (as Robin) asks Dick (as Mulletwing).
"The lieutenant was a jerk<" Dick says, looking out over NYC from a rooftop.
"But you're not just humoring me?" Tim asks. Dick had told the lieutenant he didn't see a finer partner than Tim around.
"What do you want from me, Robin?" Dick asks.
Page one, panel two: "The truth," Tim says as he and Dick leap off the roof.
"Okay, so you remind me of myself when I was Robin...maybe you're even better than I was..." Dick says.
Page one, panel three: "And as well as Bruce handled me, I know what it's like to be treated like a kid, something I don't want to do to you, but..." Dick trails off.
"But the urge is there," Tim says.
Page one, panel four: I'm not you anymore," Dick says, looking off to the side. "I'm in Bruce's boots now - the one who's responsible. On the other hand, after blowing it with the Titans, maybe I'm in no position to guide anyone," Dick says.
"So what do we do?" Tim asks.
Page two, panel one: Tim is swinging across the city on a Bat-line, while Dick is gliding using the wings in his costume.
"You and I make a deal - and then we forget about the lieutenant while we take Chulo and Bracuda down," Dick says.
"I like that last part...but what's the deal?" Tim asks.
Page two, panel two: You remember you're a kid...and I won't treat you like one," Dick says.
"Fair enough," Tim replies.
"The signal's loud and clear. Sounds good," Tim's narration box reads.
"Nightwing does an excellent cool, but I have to bite my swollen tongue...my tongue's about to bleed, but Nightwing doesn't even flare a nostril."

Page one, panel one: "I click it off and look for the guy who should be sharing angel wings with me, but he's waking too..." Tim's narration box reads. Two shadowed figures (Tim as Robin, and Dick as Mulletwing) rouse from where they'd been unconscious on a dock. A shiny red convertible is parked on the dock next to them.
"Nightwing...you all right?" Tim asks.
"Sure...n-nap was...just what I needed..." Dick replies.
Page one, panel two: "It feels good to have him as a partner, almost like Bruce, and a lot better than Jean Paul," Tim's narration reads.
"We may've lost round one, but I'm glad I came to you, man..." Tim says as he and Dick rub at their aching faces. Tim has a visible fat lip. "These days, Batman's ont big on cracking jo - "
Page one, panel two: Tim is cut off as a police car screeches to a halt on the dock in front of them, sirens flashing as it locks the two of them in its headlights.
"Cops," Dick says. "Let's just hope it's not the same lieutenant we annoyed earlier..." Tim says.
Page one, panel three: Two cops exit the car.
"You two again - lousy skintight spraypainted showoffs!" the one getting out of the passenger seat yells at Dick and Tim.
"Same guy, all right," Tim says.
"Stay cool - I'll do the talking," Dick says in a hushed tone.
Page one, panel four: The cops approach, close enough to have a conversation with Tim and Dick.
"Nightwing does an excellent cool, but I have to bite my swollen tongue," Tim's narration box reads.
"Herman, have I told you how much I hate these flashy ginks?" The lieutenant, the one who Tim didn't want to see, says.
"'Least they don't have neon signs on their chests, lieutenant," the other cop says.
"No, but one's got wings, the other's got a cape, and they've both got masks. I hate masks," the lieutenant says.
"All right, Captain Spandex, what happened here? We got reports of an explosion," the lieutenant demands.
"It was Bracuda and Chulo - and a couple of drug-thugs they were making a buy from..." Dick replies, still keeping calm. Tim scowls from behind him.
Page two, panel one: "We almost had them, until they chucked a grenade and got away on a boat," Dick continues.
"You hear that, Herman? Our Halloween party boys had a little fun here on the docks - complete with fireworks," the lieutenant jokes, jerking his thumb at Dick and Tim.
"Ain't even Fourth O' July, Lieutenant," Herman jokes back.
"My tongue's about to bleed, but Nightwing doesn't even flare a nostril," Tim's narration box reads.
Page two, panel two: "How does he do it?" Tim's narration reads.
"Lemme get this straight. You two stumble on Bracuda, Chulo, and two other mugs in the act of negotiating presumably a major narcotics transaction, and...have I got it right so far?" the lieutenant asks.
"We didn't stumble on them, lieutenant, we followed Chulo to the - " Nightwing begins, but is cut off.
Page two, panel three: And instead of informing duly-appointed law enforcement officers of that which you stumble on, you wade into the fray like bigshot daredevil heroes, and promptly get your faces split open, your butts almost bombed - " the lieutenant begins.
Page two, panel four: " - And then you calmly watched the bad guys sail off into the sunset - with all the dope," he continues.
"When you put it like that - " Dick says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
"Shut up, you asinine costumed geek!" the lieutenant yells, now.
"This is unreal," Tim's narration box reads.
Page two, panel five: "You know what Herman and me oughtta do to you? We oughtta boot the both of ya behind bars on Riker's Island!" the lieutenant yells, his nose only inches from Dick's now. Dick is beginning to look annoyed.
"Couldn't do that, lieutenant - the red an' green one's just a minor," Herman throws in.
"And the hits just keep on coming," Tim's narration reads. His mouth is open in shock and outrage.
Page three, panel one: "Herman's right - and you outta know better! You and your former Titans pals almost destroy the city, and now you're runnin' with a partner who's nothin' but a kid?" the lieutenant yells.
"Kid or not, I don't see a better partner around here," Dick snaps back.
"Finally," Tim's narration box reads.
Page three, panel two: That does it! You are goin' down to the - " the lieutenant barks, but Herman physically holds him back from attacking Dick.
"We ain't got time for that, lieutenant! As of now, No-Nose-Estes has waived his rights and agreed to cooperate - " Herman counters.

"No offense, Superman, but you can't always play it soft! I mean, look at what old Drac did to Olsen! Red is lucky to still be alive!" Tim says as he throws a line over the edge of the roof.
Page two, panel three: Tim swings down on his line, Clark flying next to him.
"One thing Batman always taught me is that extreme problems require extreme solutions!" Tim says.
"Batman has apparently taught you a number of things! You handle that rope and these heights like you've been doing it for years!" Clark says.
"Gee, thanks! That's cool of you to notice. I mean - " Tim begins.
Page two, panel four: Tim and Clark climb through a window into a hospital room where Jimmy Olsen is laying in bed, his right arm in a sling. A doctor stands by the foot of his bed.
" - "It's kinda nice working with someone who isn't so...intense all the time!" Tim finishes.
"Hello, doctor. How is the patient?" Clark asks.
"He'll be fine, SUperman," the doctor says.
Page two, panel five: Providing he gets ample rest, that is," the doctor says as he leaves the room.
"Get some sleep, Jimmy. I'll come back later," Clark says.
Page two, panel six: Clark turns to leave, but Jimmy protests.
"No, Superman, you can't leave!" Jimmy says.
Page two, panel six: "It's my girlfriend, Lucy Lane, Superman! You gotta help her! She's already gotten the big bite! She's...she's a vampire!" Jimmy pleads.

Page one, panel one: An exterior shot of Sebastian Ives' house. It's a homey-looking two-story home with a red stone exterior. The house has snow on the roof and icicles hanging from the rafters, but the front steps, sidewalk, and driveway have all been shoveled clear.
"There's not much I can do until the Joker lays out his plans for picking up his payoff. Alfred INSISTS that I get out of the house and try to forget about things for a while," Tim's narration box reads.
"I want DRAKE for gamemaster," one voice says from inside the house.

Page one, panel two: Tim sits at the head of a dining room table, his friends Ives, Hudson, and Kevin Hudman sitting in the other seats. Tim has a Warlocks and Warriors panel up in front of him, obscuring his play sheets, and there's some kind of maze set up on the table for his players. Chips and cans of soda are spread out on the table as well.
"So what's the scenario, Tim? An invisible fortress? A dungeon full of werewolves?" Kevin asks.
"MOST mundane, Hudman. How about a shopping mall with shape-changing serial killers?" Ives suggests.
"Shut up and have another soda, Ives. He's THINKING," Hudson says.
"Okay. How about this..." Tim begins.

Page two, panel one: "If this psycho smellmaker controls ALL the mystical energies of this place then all of them FLOW to him," Ives says.
"Ives is right. Follow the magic and you FIND his lair," Kevin adds.
"Looks like we found a glitch in your scenario, Tim," Hudson says.
Page two, panel two: "Tim? Tim?" Hudson asks when Tim doesn't immediately respond.
"Earth to Tim Drake," Ives says, waving a hand in Tim's face.
"Huh?" Tim asks.
Page two, panel three: Tim shoots to his feet, pulling on his jacket.
"I have to go," he says.
"But we're just getting STARTED," Ives protests. He and the other boys look dismayed.
"I - I'm sorry. I just remembered something I have to do," Tim says.
Page two, panel four: "Well, we can't play with just the THREE of us," Hudson says as he and the others stare after Tim.
"Maybe our bud Drake has decided he doesn't like hangin' with the Gotham Heights geek squad," Kevin says.
"I don't think that's it, Hudmeister. I think our boy has some SERIOUS problems."

Page one, panel one: Tim sits in history class, a textbook open on the desk before him. He's asleep, leaning his head on his hand.
"Too many long nights on the prowl. Couldn't sleep anyways with everything that's going on," his narration box reads.
"...And so the United States and Russia entered into diplomatic negotiations for the first time since the purchase of the Alaska Territory," Tim's teacher says from off-panel.
Page one, panel two: Tim's teacher stands right next to Tim's desk. The teacher is a tall, skinny man with short, messy brown hair, glasses, and a mustache. He's wearing a button-down, slacks, suspenders, and a bow tie.
"This resulted in a pact between the two nations concerning wildlife in the Bering Strait. What sort of wildlife did the Pact of 1898 concern..." the teacher says.
Page one, panel three: "...Timothy Drake?" The teacher finishes asking, tapping Tim's desk with his pointer.
"Whuh - ?" Tim snaps awake, looking confused.
Page one, panel four: "Shall I repeat the question? What species of animal is the subject of the Russo-American Pact of 1898?" the teacher asks.
Sebastian Ives, one of Tim's friends, sits in a seat in front of Tim. While the teacher's back is turned, he does a pantomime by placing his two hands in front of him, the backs touching.
"Umm...um..." Tim says, voice shaky.
"Well?" The teacher asks again.
Page one, panel five: Ives repeats his pantomime more desperately, flapping his hands.
Page one, panel six: A close-up on the left half of Tim's face.
"Seals?" Tim asks. "Seals," he repeats, more certain.
Page one, panel six: Precisely. A treaty signed to restrict the hunting of seals off the coast of the Aleutian Islands..." the teacher says, walking closer to the back of the classroom. With the teacher's attention off Tim, Ives gives Tim a triumphant thumbs up. Tim, looking relieved, returns it.
Page two, panel one: The scene cuts to Tim and Ives sitting next to each other in the school cafeteria, eating lunch. Tim has a home-packed lunch of a few tupperware containers with him, while Ives has a tray of food he bought from the cafeteria.
"You saved my life, Ives," Tim says.
"You should have seen your face, Drake! You look like you woke up to a nightmare," Ives says.
"Great imitation of a seal, by the way," TIm says.
Page two, panel two: "I could have done better but I left my beachball home today," Ives says. "What IS that you're eating?" he asks Tim with a grin.
"Just some leftovers," Tim says.
Page two, panel three: "I mean what IS it?" Ives asks.
"It's trout dijon over wild rice with a garnish of capers. Alfred made one helping too many and..." Tim replies.
"What the heck are you doing at Gotham Heights High, Master Tim?" Ives asks, poking his fork into Tim's food.
"What do you mean?" Tim asks.
Page two, panel four: "Your butler sends you to school with a bag lunch that ain't exactly a PB and J sandwich. The clothes you have on cost more than my whole CLOSET," Ives says with a grin before he bites into the food he nabbed from Tim.
"So?" Tim asks, raising an eyebrow.
Page two, panel five: "So why aren't you packed away to one of those fancy boarding schools like the rest of the rich brats?" Ives asks.
"BEEN there, Ives, old chum. Mister Wayne thought Gotham Heights would be more...broadening," Tim says, gesturing.
"Ha!" Ives laughs.
Page two, panel six: "Well, Mister Wayne better get you some No-Doz. We start the Industrial Revolution next week in History and I do a LOUSY imitation of a cotton gin," Ives says, poking Tim affectionately with his fork.
"Yeah...I have to cut out these late nights..." Tim says.

Page one, panel one: The Joker, in a snowplow, drives down a snow-covered street and rams into a green Volkswagen Bug from behind.
"Whoo-hah! This driver's plowed!" he says with a maniacal grin.
"Aaaaaaah!" the driver he hit screams as their windshield shatters.
Page one, panel two: The Joker uses the snowplow to lift the car up and toss it (driver and all), into the back of the plow where the salt is.
"Now he gets uh-salted-ed! Ha! I kill me!" he laughs, leaning out the driver's side window to watch the car as it flips into the back of the plow.
"The good news is that my lead paid off," Tim's narration box reads.
Page one, panel three: Tim, as Robin, swings down to the scene from a nearby building.
"The bad news is that it won't do me a bit of good if the Joker gets away. But how do i stop a twenty-ton truck drive by a maniac?" his narration box reads.
Page one, panel four: Tim lands on the roof of the snowplow, crouching as he snaps out his bo staff with a snakt!
"Boss, somethin' landed on the roof!" A grunt in the passenger seat says, pulling out a pistol.
"No riders! These days you never know what kind of nut you might pick up!" Joker says, scowling.
Page two, panel one: The grunt stars shooting at the roof, peppering it with bullet holes. Tim leaps forward to avoid being shot.
Page two, panel two: Tim lands on the hood of the plow, turning and smashing a hole in the windshield with his bo staff and striking the grunt in the face.
"Unnnh!" The grunt...grunts.
Page two, panel three: The Joker stares, slack-jawed, at Tim.
"You...I killed you..." he says quietly.
Page two, panel four: "I KILLED YOU!" The Joker repeats, louder and angrier this time. His face is framed by the shattered glass of the windshield, and the border of the panel is done in heavy, rough black lines rather than the usual neat, straight, and thin lines.
Page three, panel one: "I KILLED YOU!" The Joker screams again as Tim falls to the side, off the hood of the still-moving snowplow. It rams into a black car. The Volkswagon Bug is still smoking, upside down in the back.
Page three, panel two: "You're dead! Dead! DEAD!" The Joker yells. Quieter, the words growing smaller as he drives further away, he continues "Well, just have to kill him again, that's all. Kill the little birdie. Yes, yes. First things first, though. Things to do. Places to go. People to kill..."
Tim is left sitting on the snow-covered streek, rubbing his head as he watches the snowplow drive away.
"...Penny for your thoughts? Of course, they'd have to be pretty big thoughts!"
"Tim, NO!"

As...sentimental as the fandom's idea is that Bruce kept Jason's room perfectly preserved after his death, canon suggests it's far more likely that all of Jason's stuff got packed up and stored out of sight.

Panel one: A doctor stands, leaning his hands on his desk as Alfred prepares to roll Bruce, in a wheelchair, out of the office. Bruce has been shot several times in a public assassination attempt.
"Our X-rays turned up a number of old injuries - apart from your recent wounds, that is. To be exact - "
Panel two: The doctor crosses his arms, looking at Bruce with some concern.
"- We tallied thirty-two broken bones, and a shocking amount of scar tissue. Now Mr. Wayne...What the hell have you been doing to yourself?"
Panel three: A close up on Bruce. He appears unphased.
"Oh, that. Uh - when I was a kid, I...fell out of a tree."
Panel four: The doctor looks on in confusion as Alfred rolls Bruce out.
