The only thing I like about this moment is that it is 100 percent in character. 

Yeah, his dad is a prick who mistreated him. And yeah, he banished the dude to Earth. But he didn’t REALLY want any harm to come to him, not really. As in the case with many whose parents are larger than life, he probably even believed that Odin was invincible.

But here, he is genuinely horrified. How dare you kill my dad. This would have been a much better scene than what we got.

He sent Odin to an old age home and removed his memories, he didn’t try to hurt him. Unlike Odin, who tried to psychologically hurt Loki as much as possible in TDW.
