I love so much your writing and ofc I love turn around bright eyes like a 100000 % is definitely in my top 3 of the Polin fics that I love. I cant tell you how many times I re read that fic and every time I read I cry for our Polin and how difficult must be. Can you plan to continue writing the fic? Maybe can we wait for an update? Or can you give us another snippet (besides the Anthony one)? Pretty please 🥺

A nonny politely asked for something in honor of the two year anniversary of the last update of turn around, bright eyes. (Sorry, y'all.) I have found something not terribly spoiler-y to share, so ask and ye shall receive:

“He ought to be walking by now, Vi,” he hears Papa say one afternoon as he rounds the corner into the sitting room after his lessons.

Mama shifts Colin on her hip and looks up at Papa from beneath her lashes. 

“Mama, Mama, Mama,” chants Colin, smacking Mama over the heart as if to say look at me.

But for all that she flinches slightly, her eyes remain fixed firmly on Papa.

A ghost of a smile crosses Papa’s face, but then he presses his lips together as if to make himself be serious. “Don’t look at me like that. He should be.”

Colin has been able to stand on his own for a while now, but he’s not taken any steps to walk. 

Anthony narrows his eyes in thought, lifting the meat pasty he’d filched from Cook to take a bite when a brilliant idea occurs to him. He stops and instead moves closer and, from behind Mama’s back, begins to wave the meat pasty at his baby brother. 

Colin loves meat pasties. He’s been eating them since before he had any teeth.

Colin’s eyes widen and he begins to squirm, his entire little body wriggling in Mama’s arms, muttering a mangled short form of Anthony that is barely comprehensible.

It’s endearing, almost. (It is.)

“Colin,” murmurs Mama, a little scolding.

“He clearly wants to be let down, darling,” Papa says with a hint of smugness in his voice as he turns to see Anthony out of the corner of his eye. He winks.

Reluctantly, Mama settles Colin on his feet. 

And Colin –

Colin doesn’t begin by taking a hesitant, wobbly step or two toward him, as Anthony remembers one of their cousins doing when he was that small. 

Instead, Colin nods his little chin once and fairly runs to Anthony, giggling as he nearly crashes into his legs before raising a chubby hand to reach for the object of his efforts, the other hand clutching Anthony’s trouser leg tightly to steady himself.

Mama lets out a little gasp and Papa laughs as he watches Anthony lean down to hand over the hard-earned pasty. 

“At least he’s got teeth now,” jokes Papa as Colin munches away contentedly.

“Honestly, Edmund,” huffs Mama, but she is smiling, too.

Just then, Benedict skids into the room. “What did I miss?”

The rest of them burst into laughter, even Colin, who giggles so hard a bit of pasty pops out of his mouth.
