The Dangers of Knock-off Makeup
This weeks post takes on a much more serious note but is definitely important for everyone to know. Many people throughout their makeup journey would have discovered a cheap knock-off brand of makeup whether that be a fake Kylie Cosmetics lip kit found on eBay or a Jeffree Star lipstick from someone selling it on the side of the road. Although they come at a very, very, very cheap price and may look almost identical, the dangers of these knock-off greatly outweigh the price.
The main issue with these fakes is that because they are claiming to be something that they are not, they are pretending that they have the exact same ingredients and are made in the same factory which obviously, they are not. This means that there could be anything and I mean anything, in those products and you would never know what. There could be filler ingredients like toothpaste or flour but much more horrible “ingredient” including faeces, mercury, cyanide and other things that should be far away from your face.
Netflix’s documentary Broken not only goes into the details of what gets put into the counterfeit products but also reveals how they are made and the damaging effects they can have on your skin and body.
It’s safe to stay that it definitely isn’t worth the risk of buying fake products! It can be hard to spot a fake so always buy directly from a brand’s website or their retail supplier.
Stay safe, Sophie x

Should I use my cleanser before or after I exfoliate my face?
That’s a great question! Cleansing should always be your first step because the exfoliator will work better to remove dead skin cells when your skin is clean.
