Frustrated because...

I'm a big believer in building foundations and having some stability or at least something stable enough to fall back on. Maybe its just how I was raised, I learned from the mistakes of my parents and in turn they also learned from their mistakes enough to teach me first hand what not to do. I also believe in the order of things, more so in the old fashioned sense. I believe in first living in a place together with the one you love, then marriage or at least a proposal and then a baby, sometimes the baby comes first and thats okay but before marriage I always believe in living somewhere first. So when so many people come up to my boyfriend and tell him he's slipping up because his younger sister is now engaged or that's he's falling behind because she's engaged before I am is an insult. We have plans goals and aspirations, we have an order of how we want things to go or be done and right now we're not there. I don't feel comfortable saying "mom can my fiance sleep over?" It just doesn't sound right to me, when we get engaged I wanna know that it is in our own place living comfortably. I don't appreciate people, especially family making it a competition in any way. How would that make you feel, and how do you think he feels? I'll leave it at that.
