Toss Your Regrets Into The Wind: A Spell
This spell is actually inspired by something my tarot cards told me, to let go of the pain and hurt and let it be swept away. This is a powder youāll scatter into the winds.
Ingredients:Ā
Wormwood - for all of the bitterness and pain youāve been holding in Salt/saltĀ water - to symbolize tears and sadness Rosemary - to let go of the memories that hold you back Ashes - to symbolize the things around you that have been painful and unsuccessful, the ways youāve been burned Rue (optional) - for regret (I donāt have any rue on hand right now, but it would be a fantastic addition to the spell)
Directions:
Blend your ingredients together in a small bowl. You donāt need to grind them up if you donāt want to. Mix them, and while you do, think about all of the sadness and pain youāre holding in. Pour out all of your emotions of whatās pent up and hurting. Think of the past hurts and wounds. Pour that sadness into this powder.Ā
Stand outside. (Crossroads would be great for this, but not necessary.) Take your mixture and hold it in front of you. Call forth the elements as you see fit. If you work with spirits/deities, now would be the time to call on them to aid you in this spell. Take a handful of powder and toss it into the wind at one of the four cardinal directions.Ā
If you like to speak during your rituals (I personally donāt, so feel free to skip this), say something along the lines ofĀ
To the North I toss my regrets To the South I toss my sorrows To the East I toss my sadness To the West I toss my pain
May the winds carry them away from me So shall it be.Ā
As you toss your mixture into each direction, picture the wind blowing it away and carrying your sorrows and struggles far away from you. Take a deep breath, and let it all go.Ā
Thank the directions and elements for their assistance and end the spell as you see fit. Then go do something to cleanse and love yourself as a way to welcome in hope and love in place of sorrow and regret. (Write out a list of goals, do a self love spell, etc. Lots of options here!) Take a deep breath, your problems have been blown into the wind!Ā
Hope this helps!
What kind of water should i use?
Sea Water: Water from the sea is great for cleansing and healing rituals. I recommend it for cleansing crystals (but be careful, not every crystal/stone can/should be cleansed in water). Itās also great for banishing and protection spells!
StormĀ Water: Spells and rituals that has to do with emotional strength, confidence, charge, motivation and force. Itās known for strengthening spells. Storm water is great for curses as well.
River Water: Spells and rituals that has to do with moving on, focusing energy, breaking through rough paths, and warding. Great for powering tools.
Rain Water: This is very multi-purpose, but especially great for growth and rebirth spells. Great for spells that you want to keep gaining power over time.
Snow Water: Great for spells and rituals that focus on purity, endings and change, as well as slow working spells.
Dew Water: I recommend this for love and fertility spells, as well as delicate magic. Great if youāre going to do fae work.
āļøSun Meditationsāļø
šDrawing in Sun Energy Meditationš:
This can be done right before any kind of Sun magic or working with Sun deities. Itās also a easy way to recharge your personal energies. If youāre tired and in need of an energy boost during the day use this exercise to recharge your energy levels. Itās also an excellent way to raise energy for any type of healing work
šIf possible, sit outside in a sunny spot where you will not be disturbed or, if itās cold outside, stand by a window where the Sunās light can shine on you. Sit in a comfortable position.
š Close your eyes. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Take 3 deep breaths in-and-out and allow your body to relax.
šTurn your hands palm up, raise them to the sky (if thatās comfortable, just resting them on your lap, palms open, works just as well). See the Sunās energy streaming towards you, and then draw it between your hands until you hold a fiery, golden orb of light.
šSlowly lower your hands. As you do, see the Sunās energy filling your body. See the Sunās energy filling your head then lower your hands to your chest and see it filling your heart in the core of your being.
šLower your hands again and see the Sunās energy fill the lower part of your body, going down the soles of your feet. Repeat as many times as you wish.
šGrounding Sun Meditationāļø:
This meditation is my favorite way to ground. The sun and earth work in harmony to bring you balance and strength.
š If possible, sit outside in a sunny spot where you will not be disturbed or, if itās cold outside, stand by a window where the Sunās light can shine on you. Sit in a comfortable position.
āļøHold your hands palms up. See a ray of golden light shining on you. Concentrate on the light. Concentrate on emotions being felt and physical sensations. Feel or imagine its warmth on your skin.
šTake a deep breath, and as you do, see the sunlight filling you. Take 2 more deep breaths, or until you feel filled with sunlight.
āļøNow place your hands Palm down on the ground to either side of you. Imagine reaching down through the Earth - down, down to the fiery core of the planet.
šTake a deep breath and, pulling up the fires that are at the heart of the Earth, take 2 more deep breaths until you are filled with the fires of the Earth.
āļøPlace your palms over your heart. See the golden sunlight in the fires at the core of the Earth mix and blend as they fill in circulate through your being.
āļøSay or think:
Fires above, fires below
Within, without I am whole

āā¦forgive me Darling, for every word I say ā my heart is full of you, none other than you in my thoughts, yet when I seek to say to you something not for the world, words fail me. If you were here ā and Oh that you were, we need not talk at all, our eyes would whisper for us, and your hand fast in mine, we would not ask for language āā

š„ Fire GroundingĀ š„
a quick guide on grounding with bonfires or candles for elemental witches
š„ to be done near a lit candle, or by a safe bonfire.Ā
š„ Ā practice fire safety when doing this, and do not go too close to the fire! if no fire is available or safe for you, visualization is recommended
š„ Ā have a view/hearing of the fire to the best of your ability
š„ Ā visualize:
the way the fire crackles and burns away at the wood or wick, the negative and stagnant energy burns away from you. it turns to smoke and dissipatesĀ into the air.Ā
the inside of you is dark and empty. there are only ashes left behind, pure and still.
each spark and flame fills you with new energy. the flames, their brightness and warmthĀ replenishes and re-energizes you.
from the ashes a new flame is kindled within you, and it lives within your chest.
š„ Ā when you are ready, douse the fire you focused on in the appropriate method. you are not ending it, as the fire lives on it you, where its energies have spread.
š Making Moon WaterĀ š
š how do i make moon water?
get some water, leave it out under the moonlight, for as little as an hour to as long as all night, as long as it feels charged. bottle it before it touches direct sunlight, keep it in a shadowy place.Ā
š what can i use moon water for?
moon water is called for in a lot of spells, but it can also be used in potions, cleansing, bath spells, anything you might need the moonās power for.
š does it have to be done during the full moon?
it can be done during any phase, but keep in mind, each phase will rend different properties. full moon water will have different magical properties than moon water made during the new moon or a quarter moon, or a waxing or waning moon. hereās a quick guide on each phasesā meanings
š what can you put it in and what canāt you?Ā
you can put herbs in it if you like, i would avoid putting crystals in it because that can damage them and make them dissolve and it could make the water toxic, etc. most edible herbs are fine though!
š does it need direct moonlight at all times?
it does not need to be direct moonlight constantly, after itās charged, if you donāt need to recharge it unless you canāt feel its energy anymore.
š does being in the sun negate the moon waterās magic?
according to some witches it doesnāt, but according to others being in the sun will make it sun water, or sun&moon water. ultimately this is up to you.
š thereās light pollution/something blocking the moon, will it still work?
thankfully light bounces off stuff, including the moonās! it might not be as possibly potent as you could make it, but in which case you could leave it out a little bit longer.Ā
š can you use snow/rain/storm/etc water to make moon water?
you can use whatever kind of magical water you want to make a combination of waters, snow-moon water, storm-moon water, etc. however, keep in mind it may give the moon water a bit of an extra magical quality.Ā
š do i have to use a clear bottle/jar?Ā
if the light can shine through it, itāll work.Ā you can make it with whatever kind of bottle you like as long as the light can touch the water in some ways.
Black Hole Grounding š«
Many practitioners like to use various elements and other sources to ground their loose, extra, or negative energy - one of my favorite methods of doing this is Black Hole Grounding. This method ensures that the energy youāre trying to ground or get rid of is compressed into something so small and insignificant that it practically doesnāt exist, instead of just being transferred to another source. This method traps the grounded energy, similar to how the force and gravity of a black hole is so strong that not even light can escape it.
Method:
Dim the lightsĀ
Sit comfortably, whether it be outdoors under the stars or inside - your choice
Feel free to play some ambient music on your computer or phone, perhaps something on YouTube with a backdrop of the cosmos
If you have a crystal you like to use to help you ground, grab it now and hold onto it
Similarly, light a candle or incense that you like to use to help you ground, if you wish
Close your eyes and begin breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth until you reach a relaxed state of mind
Visualize the energy you wish to ground traveling up your spine, out of the top of your head, and into the cosmos - once you can visualize this energy floating in empty space, imagine it being sucked into a black hole until you can no longer see it
Continue rhythmic breathing until you come back to reality, and go about your day as usualĀ
Crystals to aid in Black Hole Grounding:
AstrophylliteĀ
Black Calcite
Black ObsidianĀ
Black Tourmaline
BronziteĀ
Dolomite

One Appalachian Familyās Superstitions
These are not necessarily superstitions held by all of Appalachia, and these may be known in other parts of the world too. This is just a list of superstitions that Iāve picked up from my very old fashioned family over the years, and with how few posts I see about the area and the older traditions, I thought I would share them with you!
šWe knock on wood when weāre afraid of jinxing ourselves out of a good outcome. āI think I aced that test, knock on wood!ā but you canāt just say it, you also have to find something made of wood to knock on. In a pinch most of us just knock on our own heads lol
š If you place a penny under the threshold of your home, youāll never be poor.
š Never thank someone for giving you a live plant, if you do it will quickly die. To avoid being rude we usually say something like, āI really appreciate the thought!ā
š Never give someone a knife as a gift, as the blade will ācut the friendshipā. If you want to give them a knife they have to find a coin to give you in return as payment, usually a penny.
š Never throw away money no matter how little it is. If even a penny goes in the trash, it puts you at risk for financial hardships.
š When walking past a graveyard at night, its best to hold your breath so that the dead canāt see you pass. A lot of us also think you should tuck in your thumbs, but to be honest I canāt remember why and they probably canāt either.
š this oneās not so much a superstition more like folk wisdom, be careful when digging holes that you donāt do it on the new moon, because if you do you wonāt have enough dirt to refill the hole.
Thatās all I can remember for now, but if I can remember more Iāll add them later š feel free to reblog and add more from your own area if you can!
