“The C—The,” Han ran a hand over his mouth, before closing the distance between them and lowering his voice as best as he could while still being heard. “They sent you after the Crimson Dawn? That’s like…like going after…The Hutts! Except worse!” His eyes were wide, and his hands alternated between hovering beside Qi’ra’s shoulders and running through already disheveled locks of his own hair.
“I mean, alright, okay, so what…like you need…info?” He sighed, trying to slow down because he was sure he looked insane. “I just…need you to understand. Crimson Dawn is…big. They’re everywhere, got their hands in everything and dealings with everyone. As for what they do,” He scoffed, “You’re on the right track. Just go about fifty levels deeper. If we’re gonna do anything about Crimson Dawn, we’ve gotta play it safe, okay?”
[ @yournewempire ]
Her eyes widened a bit, seeing his surprise at what she asked, and feeling the slight fear that was in his many gestures. There was a wonder in her mind now, if she had made a mistake in accepting this mission. Though, her Master had confidence in her skills. Surely, it must not be that hard...? “Han...” She raised her hands to lightly touch his elbows, and look him square in the face. “It’s alright. Don’t worry. I’m the safest person there is, and with the Force to guide me, this all should go smoothly. Okay? Now, I need to know what they’re doing. If they are doing what we’ve heard about in these rumors, then I will step in and try to point their priorities elsewhere...”

Han couldn’t help but to feel a certain pride at her remarks. Truthfully, he had always imagined that his ramshackle place here would be met with nothing short of disgust from those of the Jedi Temple, but Qi’ra seemed genuinely excited. He was beaming far more than he should have at such simple remarks, and hardly registered her subject change.
“What–bugged?–No way, I have all sorts of tech to deal with that. Right Chewie? Yea, he’s agreeing. Okay, that’s enough agreeing.” Han held up a hand, flashing a smile at her. “So…first you tell me. You got any names, people or groups that the Jedi want you looking for?”
[ @yournewempire ]
“Uh, a few actually... But the main one they were becoming more alerted to was something called... The Crimson Dawn? We don’t know much about it, other than there’s been rumors of them smuggling not just spice, but people as well, and obviously more things. Horrible, right??”
She honestly felt a little naive on the subject of what crime lords and their rivals do to one another, but she had a few ideas. Hopefully her friend knew more about it than she. If not, Qi’ra would most likely have to go at this alone, which she already was originally. Who knows. He might decide not to go with me, after all.

While Qi’ra tried to sense all that she could around them, to Han only one person existed in the mass of the crowd: her. His eyes scanned the familiar landmarks, but his mind was racing with memories and feelings that had stayed long-buried until now. Finally, her words snapped him out of it.
“Yea, well, you know me. Once king of the sewers, now king of the streets. So I guess you could say I’m moving up.” He said, tossing her a half-hearted smirk as they slid into the less populated alleys where figures slumped against the walls watched them with weary eyes. Han nodded towards a few, and pointedly avoided the stares of others. Finally, he came to a rusted ladder, where one shaky climb would lead them straight into the hobble Han called home. It was a cramped apartment, filled with all sorts of odds and ends.
“Here we are.” He smiled, gesturing around. “Better than what we called a room in Corellia, huh?”
[ @yournewempire ]
Qi’ra took one look around his place and was honestly surprised to find it was somewhat homely feeling, unlike anything at the Jedi Temple had been for her. Maybe it was the feeling of her friend’s presence all over every part of this home of his, or it could just be from her lacking really anything close to this. She cleared her head after a short moment of gawking at all of his collected doodads, and nodded towards him with an enthusiastic furrow of her brows.
“Oh, loads better! Han, this is incredible! You and Chewbacca are doing fine here, I take it, then?” Still, business was more important, and she had to put her focus on that. A simple clearing of her throat was heard, trying to conceal her excitement over how well he’s made it without her help all this time. “So, about what you know...? Is there anything you can tell me, now that we’re in some place more private? Hopefully your place isn’t bugged.”

muchwritemanymuse:
No matter how long he smiled, there was something in his eyes that even Chewie might have noticed, something very disconnected from the rest of his face. He listened, and his stomach lurched as she stated her business. Partly in dread, partly in excitement. Don’t get involved, not with Jedi business, and not with her. Han knew that this wasn’t going to go anywhere, not anywhere he wanted it to anyways. Yet his smile remained as he sat up straighter.
“Around here, if you’re not causing trouble, it’s probably because you’re dead.” He paused, lowering his voice. “I might…but here isn’t the place to talk about it. Mind taking a little trip with me—yea, and you Chewie, quiet!”
[ @yournewempire ]
“Lead the way, Han.” She nodded to him, and chuckled a bit at the furry friend who made a fuss about this situation. Qi’ra followed behind them, careful to watch their backs as they traversed this city, until they were somewhere more secluded. The Force felt so clouded in a place that was as crowded with life as this, and she found it difficult to really pinpoint the intentions of others, unless they passed directly near others.
“So, are you the biggest hotshot here on this planet as well? I’m sure with skills like yours, you’ve gotten pretty far up in anyplace you’ve stayed.” She was honestly curious about the past few years. Where he’s been, and what he’s seen. It must be vastly different to what she’s experienced, being with the Jedi.

muchwritemanymuse:
He smiled, it came easy somehow. Easier when he was looking at his drink and not at her, anyways. “Come on, we gambled plenty on Corellia. Don’t tell me you forgot.” He meant it as a joke, but it brought a lump to his throat that he quickly swallowed with a swig of his drink.
“So what sort of business do the Jedi have on Nar Shadda anyways? I’m surprised your…what do they call it, Master, let you wander so far in a place like this.” That’s right, avoid emotions by covering them with bitterness. Nice, Han.
[ @yournewempire ]
“Well, yes I do remember that! But it wasn’t anything I thought that’d continue on...” She paused, and flashed that smile even brighter. “But I’m happy to see that you’ve become better at it. Look at you! Winning so much! I remember when we’d have to run for our lives after some of your losses, when you couldn’t give them what they had bet for.” She chuckled at those memories.
Though her posture straightened slightly at him bringing up her Master and the business that she’d not forget. Qi’ra could sense his unease, or whatever it may be. So, she’d try to be as brisk about it as possible. “I think it’s something you might like, actually. I’m trying to crack down on some spout of crime that’s spiked here, recently. I need to find the source. Since you’re here, and most undoubtedly have cause trouble from time to time, if I’m not mistaken on who you are... Have you noticed anything around here, that’s more than unusual?”

muchwritemanymuse:
It had been such a promising night. He’d swindled a few lowlifes out of enough to pay his lowlife landlord, and even buy a few drinks for him and Chewie. Maybe he’d even have enough for some new clothes (or an upgrade to his blaster). All of these thoughts chased around his head, and yet the moment he heard that voice, they vanished. It was as though time froze, and he was seeing something impossible that no one else could appreciate the gravity of. Suddenly, Han felt every emotion all at once, which was a very similar feeling to waking up with a hangover. He swallowed, trying to compose his face into something less deer-in-headlights.
“Qi’ra…” I haven’t ever stopped thinking about you, where have you been, have you thought of me? Questions darted for his tongue, through the odd mix of elation and acid he was feeling. He lowered his eyes to his drink and shrugged. “Didn’t know the Jedi had business on Nar Shaddaa. You are…still with them, right?” He asked with a cool glance up at her, trying to act distant. It made things easier, convincing himself that he didn’t care.
[ @yournewempire ]
Qi’ra was trying her hardest to keep her emotions in check, knowing full-well that her Master would’ve sensed her anticipation over all of this. She hadn’t seen Han in so long, that it was like a bubble of excitement and worry about to explode in her head. So, she kept smiling, hoping that it would hide the anxiousness away from view.
“Of course! The Jedi Order have business all over the galaxy, whenever we’re notified of anyone needing our presence. But you? What are you doing here? Didn’t know you were into gambling... Did your Wookiee friend get you interested in that? Pleased to meet you, by the way. I’m Qi’ra.” She held out her hand towards the hulking Wookiee, who shook it gently enough and nodded curiously. It wasn’t like Han to be so caught up with himself, Chewbacca noted.

“If she even has a master…she said that she was taught by many.” Ben mused, thinking over what he could remember of their exchange. It was difficult, when his mind was still reeling from her cold and unwelcome touch. Still, he tried to focus on the present, the way that Luke advised. “I know, but the Council has a way of delivering verdicts that suit their mood. Let’s hope that they’re happy today.”
As it turned out, Ben had little reason to worry. The council was as much in the dark as they were about the girl’s identity, and were more concerned with identifying her than scolding the two for any reason. That night, he hoped to put the matter behind him, settling into bed and hoping that she might lay low for a time after her failure to capture him. Unfortunately his hopes were rarely rewarded…
[ @yournewempire ]
While the two slept, dreams were invaded by something downright wrong, but all of it was targeted on the young Solo. It was like a wisp of thought, tickling the back of the boy’s thoughts, and preying on his lingering doubts. Flashes of various council members were seen, and more importantly was Luke’s disappointed expression. Each of the members turned away from him in disgust, if he were to look their way. “Shameful... so shameful... You’ll never be able to live up to their expectations.” Whispered a playful voice in his mind. It was the same woman from before, who had hurt his friend with ease.
That same memory of Cal choking appeared. This time it was worse, and he was seen tugging at the invisible fingers on his throat, pleading eyes looking into the other’s. “B--ben-- ! Please!” His face was turning all shades of purple and blue, before the strain of it’s powerful vice finally had him keeling over into a heavy slump. Ben would look over, most likely distraught with his actions, with his arm outstretched from the attack he’d see her form right next to him. Rey’s bright eyes locked with his, a grin playing on her pale features. “You will be their undoing, Ben Solo... And you will love it, just like me...”

In a certain bar, off a particularly crowded alley, the air was thick with smoke and sound. Languages from across the galaxy were heard among shouts, laughs, and arguments. In the middle of it all, a card game was being held around a long table. A large and imposing figure clad in brown leather sat beside a scrawny crimson being who continuously licked its lips nervously. At the very end of the table sat a young human, who looked to be somewhat out of place. His wide eyes combed over the others before studying his hand. Hesitantly, he called the bet. One creature snickered as Han squinted once more at his cards, looking unsure.
Finally, they went around the table and laid down their hands. A few groans sounded from those who’d had a mediocre hand at best and saw better hands unfolding before them. Then, all eyes were on Han. He let out a heavy sigh, brows pinched as he set down his cards. The air around the table seemed to go completely still, until he broke it with a nervous, “This is, uh, good….right?”
Immediately, aggressive huffs and the slamming of fists against the table broke the silence as Solo raked in his winnings, wearing a smile that seemed to suggest he hadn’t been quite so ignorant to the rules as he’d let on. With the game over, most of the other players sidled off to booths or left for the night, leaving Han to share a victory pint with the Wookie who now took the empty seat beside him.
“Whaddya mean, I thought I was pretty convincing! They sure seemed to buy it.”
[ @yournewempire ]
The commotion was considerably louder than anything else in the nearby vicinity, and Qi’ra had been highly unlucky to find that this was had her attention, over the rest of the city. She slowly wandered over to the outskirts of where these individuals were wildly hollering and grumbling over their losses. What caught her eye, after a moment of smiling at the passerbys, was the sight of a tall Wookiee and it’s companion.
Immediately, her breath caught in her throat, and she couldn’t honestly believe what she was seeing. “Han?” Came her short question, utter disbelief on her features, and she slowly walked up to meet him halfway in his path. “Han, what are you doing here????” She thought the last time they saw each other was going to be the last, since she had no idea on what ways the Jedi would take her. This was an absolutely pleasant surprise!
“And your friend here. Hello!” She gave the Wookiee a polite nod, then focused on her old friend with a look of honest happiness. Qi’ra almost wanted to hug the other, but was unsure if that was alright, due to how they ended their conversation all those years ago... So, instead she straightened and gave him a more calm look, still smiling. “I’m so glad to see you, Han. It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?”
| @muchwritemanymuse |
muchwritemanymuse:
“Me? Reckless?” He replied, raising his brows in faux-shock. “Why, I’ve been told that I should be a little more carefree. Perhaps while you’re gone I’ll find some trouble to get into.” Finally, his smile eased into something genuine. “I know, and I trust that you’ll do just fine.”
After their goodbyes were said, and the ship double checked, Obi-Wan felt a heavy pit of reluctance in his stomach. He would meditate on it later, but for now he offered his padawan an easy smile. “May the Force be with you.” He said, bidding her and her ship farewell. He watched it fly off, finally letting the lines of worry crease his face. He would miss her, of course, but there was something more to it. A storm cloud, dark and heavy, hung in the distance, and he feared that Qi’ra was heading right into it.
Qi’ra dared not to linger for a second more, knowing it would’ve been harder to leave her Master’s side. So, after all the checks were done, she went off to space and right into lightspeed. The destination wasn’t a place too unknown, at least. There were a few rivaling gangs, many that the Jedi Order’s had to deal with in the past on other planets.
Nar Shaddaa was occupied by the Hutts’ reign, and that ranged from this world to as far as the desert planet, Tattooine, with many in-between. In a few hours she landed, officially making her business known to whatever counts as some limited government here, and went off already to explore. She would find a place to stay for the night, later. Right now, her mind was set on getting a head-start.

muchwritemanymuse:
“Qi’ra.” He arched a brow, stroking at his beard as he gave his padawan a sidelong glance. She was approaching knighthood faster than ever, but Obi-Wan knew that she had not yet faced every trial that would earn her the title. “I hope you aren’t nervous, this mission should be straightforward. If you keep your head on straight, and follow your instincts,” He stopped himself, huffing before allowing a wry smile to cross his lips. “Or perhaps I’m nervous to see my padawan go on their first solo mission. I shouldn’t worry, you’ve always more than capable. Just don’t think that you have anything to prove.” His brows now rose as he looked at her. “If things get to dangerous, you must contact me immediately. You will win no favor by endangering yourself and the mission.”
[ @yournewempire ]
Her gaze was focused on her master, but her mind was definitely wandering towards the mission that lay ahead. It was honestly her first time that she would be alone, and it hadn’t been that way for her in some years. She was listening to him, absolutely was, but there was a nervousness that she was trying to hide deep inside of herself about all of this. “Yes, I will, Master.” Her light smirk finally broke out, and she felt a bit of confidence finally take over to calm her nerves. “Don’t you go on doing something reckless without me, until I get back though! You don’t need to worry about me. I promise I’ll keep on reporting to you every few hours.”
