I'm Flinch, first-year student of Naranja Academy! Said school encourages students to open up Rotomblr accounts shortly before or after joining, so... here I am!

Blog runner is an adult, but muse is a minor. No NSFW or extreme weirdness, and ESPECIALLY no proshippers.
I will usually make a post on my laptop and then edit it on my phone to add screenshots to it. You should wait a bit before RBing my posts because of this, so that the pics show up on your reblogs. (Whether I stick to this policy is not guaranteed.)

Welp. The Treasure Hunt has begun. A few weeks to a month passed by with no Team Star incidents, a close bond with Nemona, and genuine empathy from just about the whole campus. It’s… better than I expected anything to be. And now it’s time for the adventure I signed up for!
However, then and now, I’ve discovered multiple ideas for the Hunt, or rather been roped into them.
First, Nemona suggests that to reinforce me as a strong Trainer and get to battle her more, I take on Paldea’s Gym Leaders. She’s my friend and wants what’s best for me, so I accept her challenge!
Then, Arven wants my help to look for some legendary sandwich ingredients called Herba Mystica to “achieve his dream.” He’s surprisingly nice when you get to know him, so I’m going to take the risk with him!
Next, a hacker named Cassiopeia wants to recruit me for “Operation Starfall,” a mission to disband Team Star. I’m still shaken by my encounter with them and keep hearing stories about their misdeeds… if I’m the one who’s needed to take them down, so be it!
So yeah, I’m going to be stretched thin… but if it means I tighten my bonds with the people I know and become someone the school is proud to call its own, I’m game!
The biggest problem I have is… can I do all this with just a team of six?
And just like that, the first day of school is over.
That was a pleasant jaunt around Naranja Academy, aside from the obvious issue of Team Star threatening my emotional health... but everyone's already talking about the Treasure Hunt. It's real, kids have done it before, and I can't wait for it!
Thus, I'm heading to bed. I have some time to kill.
Yes, I barged in to help some girl fight off those Team Star twerps. I was… less than emotionally regulated at the sight of them. I’ve just had rough experiences, being stuck somewhere with kids like them and no way out. … I don’t want to elaborate.
Fortunately, Nemona and Clavell were soon there to explain what Team Star is. Apparently they’re a problem for the whole school, that even the staff aren’t sure how to deal with. Great.
If my parents were here, they’d encourage me that only so much time is left before the Treasure Hunt, where I’ll get to leave the school behind. I’ll avoid Team Star at all costs in that case - if the staff can’t control them, certainly I’m helpless to do anything but take space from them.
Guhhh.
On the plus side, I suppose the girl I helped, Penny, is a third potential friend after Nemona and Arven. But she was running away when I shouted “I’m sorry for being loud” at her… she’s probably terrified of me after that outburst I had right in front of her.
[An altercation is occurring between the two staircases leading towards Naranja Academy. Two kids in modified academy uniforms with star motifs appear to be harassing a girl with two-toned hair and an Eevee backpack.
“Don’t you get it!?,” the female “grunt” loudly asks. “If you join Team Star, you can shine as bright as anybody!”
The girl simply looks at the ground, as if lost in thought, but clearly trying to ignore “Team Star.”
“Seriously,” the male grunt continues, “what’s with you? Don’t you wanna burn bright with awesome friends like us?”
“... Not really,” the girl with the backpack answers after a pause.
“Look–we’ve got a quota we’re supposed to fill for new members, so just sign up already!”
“Um… I’d rather not…”
The Rotom camera finally pans over to Flinch, who is… frozen a distance from the event. He seems shaken by what’s going on, as if it’s bringing back old emotions. They close their eyes, take a deep breath, and suddenly run into the fray.
“HEY!,” she yells, making a shield between the apparent bullies and their target. “Knock it off! You can’t do that to people!”
“WHAT?,” the male grunt shouts at the interruption. “Hey, get outta here! This isn’t your sign-up to botch!”
“We’re Team Star,” the female grunt explains. “We burn so bright, it hurts to look at us! But you knew that, right?”
“Hey, watch your language! Here I’m finally part of Team Star, and still I get no respect? I gotta make my way up the ranks…”
“We can’t just let something like this slide,” the male grunt observes. “The honor of our team’s on the line, so we’ve got no real choice but to battle, yeah?”
“That’s true! You keep watch of that little four-eyes over there! I’ll make sure this fresh-faced nobody ends up seeing stars!”
I gave it the sandwich my mom packed for my first lunch at school, and that temporarily gave it strength, enough to get me back to the surface… and drive off a LEVEL 40 HOUNDOOM that tried to attack me. It probably saved my life.
“I can’t believe my luck!,” they gasp. “I’ve been a Trainer for, like, ten minutes, and THIS HAPPENS!”
Flinch notices Nemona running up behind him, and turns and waves, keeping the recording phone in place. The older girl comes to a stop a bit behind them.
Both stop and just laugh together for a moment, Nemona raising an arm for Flinch to cross-touch. It accepts the offer and gives a bump. For a moment, they simply stand there.
“Guh-GYAOHHH!”
Both jump in shock at the offscreen roar, the screen shakes, and the video abruptly cuts off.]
First of all, I GOT A ROTOM PHONE! So I can take photos! I'm naming the Rotom inside Kate - after a bicycle I had as a kid. Yes, I gave a bike a name. It was weird, I know, I was little.
Second of all, I met two important people. First is the director of the academy, Mr. Clavell. He seems amiable and kind - and personally delivered the documents I needed. Then I made my first student acquaintance, Nemona. She’s the president of Naranja’s student council, and a Champion Rank Trainer! She wanted to be friends right away, and is very upbeat. Both seem honest and genuine, which is important to me.
Third of all… I was, in fact, given a starter! Meet Waylon the Fuecoco! I named him after Waylon Jones, Killer Croc - you know, from Zubatman. I’m officially a Trainer now! I even managed to beat Nemona and her new Sprigatito with him!
I woke up early (which I usually struggle to do) and got on one of the uniforms that were sent to me in the mail. I'm not particularly into school uniforms, but all eight of them seem comfy enough - I'm not sure yet how extreme Paldea's climates will be, since we only got to Cabo Poco about two weeks ago.
The only thing missing is my enrollment documents, for some reason. According to my mom, someone should be delivering them later this morning. She also says she has a few surprises for my big first day. Please be a Rotom Phone please be a Rotom Phone please be a Rotom Phone please be
That's why Naranja Academy was so appealing to my family - the whole "Treasure Hunt" thing should be a really good way to get my feet wet for independence! If Naranja offers me a "starter," I'll take one. I've seen pictures of Paldea's first-partner trio and I like all three of them well enough.
(Mom says that if all else fails Skwovet is low-level and would enjoy getting out more with me, but I'd rather he level up and evolve on her terms. She's the one who caught him, after all.)
Ohh Naranja, that's a great trainer school actually, I personally went to the one in Wyndon. Cool scarf, still have it, but not as good as others. Didn't even give us a pokemon, but to be fair, that one was more about preventing potential abuse of pokemon, which I think it did good on
