I want to live simply, calmly and with intense passion. I want to remove the restraints of timelines, alarm clocks and stresses of money. I want to not feel guilty or embarrassed by what I say, do or who I am. I want to love and be loved. I want to go a full day without witnessing or experiencing someone complaining or being angry. This isn’t to say I don’t ever want to experience the “negative” human emotions such as sadness,I do. But instead I want to sit in it, embody it and enjoy the ride that I have lost something that was worth being sad about. I want to live wholly, doing things I love, trying things I fear and continuously grow with a great openness that allows me to expand my knowledge and compassion through connecting with people from all walks of life and learning through their wisdom- as we each have some inside us all. Good morning yogis! Yoga pose of the day: Uttanasana {standing forward fold} pose #2 Great pose to wake you up and get your body and mind going! Benefits: Stretches hamstrings,calves and hips. Calms the mind. Relieves stress, headaches and insomnia. Improves digestion and stimulates liver and kidneys. Reduces anxiety and fatigue. How to do this pose: Start in standing position. Hands on hips, index and middle fingers at hip crease. Take an inhale to lengthen spine and as you exhale begin to fold forward at the hips. (Over the index and mid finger) Release hands to floor or behind ankles. Draw torso away from groin. Press heels into floor and lift sit bones towards ceiling. Every inhale lengthen torso, every exhale you can come a little deeper into the fold. Hold for 15 seconds- 1 minute I tend to use this quite often as a resting pose in between challenging flows or long held poses in my yoga sequences. But it is so therapeutic and beneficial as a pose itself it should be allotted its own time and focus. Wake up, fold forward and enjoy yogis! YUYx
