Rainy Day
Kate Winslet tearfully remembering Alan Rickman at London Critics Awards (x)
In memory of Alan Rickman
When I first read that he was dead I thought it was a cruel troll or some massive misunderstanding. I just couldn’t believe it. I immediately looked it up in the hopes of finding out it wasn’t true. He couldn’t be dead, he just couldn’t be. It was so impossible.
It’s been over three days since his death I still can’t believe he’s gone. It seemed like he’d never die. He was such an icon, such a giant, that it seemed like he’d live forever. But that’s impossible and so my heart broke along with the hearts of millions of others.
In the first hours after his death I read quotes from his friends about how he was not only immensely talented but also immensely kind. He was genuinely interested in what people had to say and he would always go out of his way to help the people he cared about no matter how busy he was. He was loyal, supportive, and loving. The world seems darker now that it has suffered the loss of someone like him.
Of all the actors in Hollywood, Alan was the most important to me. He was one of the first actors I could recognize by face and name, and he played a central part in my childhood with his roles Harry Potter, and Galaxy Quest. He was one of my favorite public figures I am truly devastated at his loss.
But the loss that I and millions of others around the globe feel stands as a testament to the profound impact he had on the world through his acting. He was able to enamor audiences with just a few words or movements, and no matter how despicable or nasty a character was, he always played them with depth, respect, and understanding. He could make any character he played your favorite simply because he was playing them. He touched so many people with his performances. Alan is a great example of the amazing impact a single artist can have. There is a saying that goes: stars live and die, but actors live forever. Alan Rickman was undeniably an incredible actor and so through his work he will always live on. Although he is technically no longer with us, in a way he still is, and always will be. It’s not the same, it’s nowhere near the same, as having him with us for real, but so long as we are able to watch and enjoy his performances a part of him is immortal.
And so with an aching heart I say goodbye to one of the world’s, and one of my, most treasured actors. No one could replace you, for you were a man of unique ability and amazing generosity and kindness. You were a singular human being and I am grateful to have lived at the same time as you. Goodbye Alan Rickman, I love you and miss you and I really hope to meet you in heaven one day.
Rest in peace.
Rickman’s “secret” battle with cancer and Bowie’s “secret” cremation. The word you are looking for is “private”, newspapers. You have no automatic right to know.

Jimmy Fallon paying tribute to Robin Williams
We, like all of you were shaken up a bit last night when we learned that genius comedian and actor Robin Williams passed away. He was one in a kind. He was one in a million. He was unbelievable. If you don’t know his stand-up then you should YouTube it right now and watch it. He was amazing. He was funny and he was fast. He would weave in and out of characters and get Shakespearean. It was incredible.”
Jimmy then proceeded to do his best Robin impersonation, and concluded his tribute by standing on his desk and playing out a key scene in Dead Poets Society.
“Oh captain, my captain, you will be missed.”
What can we expect from you in the next five years?

England, you stole tea from China. You’ve had it a mere 4 centuries compared to their 30+. Don’t play like you’re some kind of authority.
