Jyana's eyes flickered from person to person as they observed the people around them. House Reed would stay here as long as House Stark wanted them here, there weren’t may of the crannogmen here but the ones who did show up were strong in their loyalties. Jumping down from where she’d been sitting on the wall Jyana was almost ran into by a passerby. “Oh.” Some of the people liked to remind them that her people were smaller than most. But they were used to it. “It’s not polite to step on people.” They didn’t hold their tongue like some would like them to, some would be angry to even touch the ‘frog eaters’. @crownstarter
( amita suman , twenty-three , non-binary , she/they ) it looks like JYANA REED , the RULING LADY of GREYWATER WATCH is prepared to play the game of thrones . you know , their HUMBLE & RESOURCEFUL side might help them along the way , but their CYNICAL & ODD qualities won’t do them any favours . a little bird told me that they’re currently AGAINST the tyrell rule and that their loyalties lie with HOUSE REED AND HOUSE STARK . hm , interesting . that same little birdy also told tales of a small figure moving through the brush and swamps, large dark eyes watching every move and hints of a smile while speaking cryptic words. will they win , or will they die ?
this is my final character and I hope you all enjoy jyana!

story
the crannogmen have always been different, they’ve always been strange and outsiders to many people, even in the north. where other houses move forward in things and in time, house reed has kept their ways. jyana was raised to do the same, the oldest and for many years the only child of house reed, they were the one who would take over and protect the ways of house reed. their ways truly are the old ways.
she was an only child in her family but there were plenty of other children their own age around them and the fact that the others in the neck also took care of them. they knew that she was the one who would lead them.
as a child jyana was adventurous. they were the one who always went off and did things for themselves. it was fun for them to be on their own. sneaking around, learning what she could from everyone around them. it was as a child when they first learned how to fight with a spear and even daggers.
jyana is curious about other people, when people pass through the neck she will go out of her way to see them. even if they’re just lurking in the shadows they’re eager to see people. despite this curiosity they would never want to live like the others do, even the other northerners. jyana is happy to be in the neck and in the swamps around their home.
one issue they do have is that when people approach them, they do open their mouth and say things that some people wouldn’t want to hear. the cryptic talk many of the crannogmen spoke with. it was common for them but it was strange to others, it bothered some people. they have no qualms about speaking the way they do. even if it makes things interesting or people not like them. too much.
when lord brandon reed died jyana was named the lady of greywater watch. her father naming them heir when they were born. house reed had jyana as their leader and they had proven themselves at an early age. their younger brother would be their heir if anything happened to them.
as always house reed stands behind their king, the crannogmen know only one king, only one ruler. and that’s house stark. even if the worst was to happen it would always be house stark that they follow.
they’re loyal to house stark and they guard the north. there’s never been a breach of the north through the neck and as long as jyana and house reed lead the crannogmen and the neck it will say that way.
wanted connections
possible betrothal: jyana needs to marry, they know that. it’s not really something that’s up for debate. preferably another northman but it would be very interesting if it was someone outside of the north. (male/female/nb are all okay)
enemies: it’s known that the crannogmen and house reed are not liked by other people, the iron born, ect. even in the north there are some that don’t like them. so people who don’t like jyana or her people would be fun to have.
“To Winterfell we pledge the faith of Greywater,” they said together. “Hearth and heart and harvest we yield up to you, my lord. Our swords and spears and arrows are yours to command. Grant mercy to our weak, help to our helpless, and justice to all, and we shall never fail you.”
“I swear it by earth and water,” said the boy in green.
“I swear it by bronze and iron,” his sister said.
“We swear it by ice and fire,” they finished together.
rosalee , for once , in her young life did not leave the ballroom . maybe it was because the mask she wore concealed her features enough one would not know who she was . her beloved child was resting with his own governess , someone rosalee had come to love and admire from their training . rosalee wished she herself could have stayed with her son , but now she had to think of them both . and rosalee was beginning to see she needed a husband . the thought alone squeezed her stomach . so long ago she had wanted to marry for love and not because of a need . she sighed , reaching up to move her mask up and down , trying to itch the skin where the mask was rubbing against .
“Not enjoying the mask?” Su Xing raised an eyebrow as he watched the woman move her mask. He understood the action, he was close to taking it off and leaving here. But he stayed because he knew his mother would be furious if he left and his father, drunk somewhere or not, would want his children to be on display. “Mine is annoying me as well.”
“It will feel a lot longer if you all you do is continue to complain,” Drystan tells him, smiling as he appears in front of the other. Despite his grumpy disposition, Drystan was elated to see Jacaerys, as he always was. It was nice having another lord in Westeros speak his mother tongue, a language he hardly got to speak back home in Brightwater. "I’ll commend you for following the theme of the ball, at least,” He teases, taking in the other’s absence. Though Drystan, himself, also didn’t wear his house’s colors, the mask he wore on his face was shaped like a fox, covered in many colors of violet and silver to emphasis the natural features he and the other shared (though the silver and lilac were much more prominent in Jacaerys). “I assume you’re going to hightail it back to your lands first chance you get?”
*
Jacaerys fought the urge to roll his eyes when he heard the man’s voice but he was able to keep his face as neutral as possible. “And you know the ways to make this situation less terrible?” He didn’t want to be here, he had more important things to work for and masks were a hindrance. Melara Redwyne was the only person he really needed to see. “What good does following theme give me when everyone knows who I am anyway?” He let out a short laugh as his eyes scanned the man in front of him, “I have other plans that I can’t simply leave here for. As much as I want to leave I have a job to do. As much as I really hate this place.”
lilach shrugged, daintily sipping her own drink. “i like it,” she says, adjusting her stag mask made of delicate wire and silk. “but i have a house symbol that is easy to replicate. rarely is there such a time to dress so fancifully, and it’s not difficult to tell who is who. even when they choose to don masks, people are awfully clumsy.”
*
He was easily spotted with his hair and eyes, but the woman before him could pass for anyone. If not for the stag mask that donned her face. “Some are quite obvious, Lady Baratheon.” He tapped his own mask before motioning to hers. “Others are not so easily spotted.” He’d not noticed Lord Tarly until he removed his mask. “And then some of us have no hopes of disguising ourselves.”
Most of Symonas evening was spent on the coattails of her princess with a glass of wine in hand. She stood by as she rubbed elbows with the other nobles, dressed in their finest evening attire and adorned with ornate masks. She had made a game for herself out of trying to guess who was behind which accessory without having to speak to them. It was no fun without someone to wager with, though, and now that she had found a moment to herself she allowed fate to decide who would share in her childish contest.
“That one, there,” A half empty glass was pointed in the direction of a man behind them, dark garbs lined with accents of silver standing out among the vibrant hues of the event, “It’s a hard to tell whether those are house colors or simply a choice of fashion. Too well-dressed to be Ironborn and not nearly dressy enough to be a southerner. I’m thinking Northern. Lord Cassel? Or possibly Reed. What do you think?” Ocean eyes peered over to the other in curiosity and anticipation of what the response might be.
“House Reed is too poorly dressed for that to be him.” Jacaerys hadn’t really seen or known many northmen but everyone knew of house Reed. Creepy little things they were. “Unless he took clothing from another house that is.” He’d not really spent much time trying to figure out who was who. Some clearly had their houses on display and those were really the only ones he noticed. He’d been looking for Lady Redwyne but he didn’t actually know what do look for. “But it is more interesting when they at least attempt to hide themselves.”
Jacaerys was dressed outside his families colors, by his outfit he could be from any house. But with the white hair and violet eyes through the mask, he had no doubt he was easily recognized. Where he had no love for the Tyrell prince or House Tyrell in general he knew his absence would be noted. Not that anyone really cared about his house any longer. Grabbing a drink his eyes wandered from person to person. “Hiding behind masks for fun. I think most already do that all their lives anyway.” Letting out a sigh he took a deep drink, “This is going to be a long night.” @crownstarter
smoke and mirrors with a hall full of paper faces on parade - the great lady yronwood strode forward in all her finery watching each fraudulent face pretend they were someone else among the throng of other party goers. Such was a masquerade and though neutral on the subject of tyrell rule the mother knew where each of her children were and if a supporter or pretender conversed with them. An entire war could be begun simply out of conversation here or they could be ended and it was a great seduction the tyrell played she’d have to give it to them it was cunning. See who your true enemies were even obstructed in masks and the veil of celebrating a babe. In a blue iridescent fabric that mimicked steel more so than the actual color blue with a mask to hide the upper half of her face she hid only as much as she needed to taking a turn around the floor. “Such a marvelous turn out and I wonder who will find who behind the face they wear. Tonight will be full of surprises surely..” Tian mused to no one, grabbing a goblet of wine lifting it to her lips.
Masks weren’t something Su Xing was fond of, it itched at his face and he’d rather be wearing anything else. It never even hid who a person was in most cases, he didn’t know why people acted as if they were anonymous when wearing these things. But he supposed it could be fun pretending like everyone didn’t already know exactly who he was. If there was anonymity to be had, he’d play to it. The first chance he found was taken from him as quickly as he’d agreed to play. The woman who spoke and stood near him was his mother, he’d know her voice anywhere and undoubtedly she would know him. And even so he wouldn’t be Su Xing if he didn’t at least pretend she wouldn’t find him out. “A world of mystery awaits us tonight my Lady.” It felt odd on his tongue, he’d called her a myriad of things from a whining “mommy” as a child to words he’d never dare say to her face, but never ‘my lady’
House Velaryon of Driftmark rules the island of Driftmark, the largest island of Blackwater Bay in the crownlands. Their castles include Driftmark and High Tide. The head of House Velaryon is titled Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark.

story
old valyria is gone, house targaryen is gone. now all that’s left of the once proud valyrian people are house velaryon, house celtigar and house blacktyde who hold no ties to their once valyrian blood. for as long as he could remember his father did his best to find families with the valyrian bloodline and marry into them. be it from the free cities or the places in westeros he could reach.
for jacaerys his father was determined to marry him to a lady of house celtigar. however the issue that took his father’s mind was the fact that both of lord celtigar’s eldest daughters were promised to the future king of westeros and to lord redwyne in the reach. that left the youngest child arwena celtigar to be his future bride.
while the waiting for his betrothed to be of proper age he learned everything a lord of driftmark had to learn. he took to the sea’s as all before him had, in westeros there were few outside house velaryon who had better sailors. it was tradition for the future lords of driftmark to take to the seas as soon as they were able to walk and even before. they were to rule the tides as their father’s before them.
it was a pain to his father to have house redwyne take the celtigar woman and claim to have a better fleet. house greyjoy never meant anything to him, a set of thieves more than sailors. jacaerys knows better than to underestimate them.
jacaerys has always been raised in the mindset to get ahead, to hold onto everything of his past and peoples. he’s known as the sea snake, as the lord of tides. he’s supposed to rule the seas and he’s supposed to make his father’s dreams in part come true.
when it came time to be married and meet lady arwena celtigar things exploded, she made a mockery of him and his house in front of other houses in the crownlands. the girl then was lost, he’d no idea where she’d gone but she was lost and house celtigar lost favor with house velaryon and was after that in their debt.
with the ties with house celtigar all but cut it put tensions on the relationship with house tyrell as their new queen was from house celtigar. his father died shortly after that and jacaerys was named lord of driftmark.
he put most of his time after this into finding ties with the other lords of the crownlands and seeking a suitable wife for himself. he wasn’t met with any real choices that would present anything good for he or his house. no matter how he loves someone he knows his marriage must be one that brings ties for his family.
jacaerys is a manipulative man when he needs to be. when he wants to be. he knows the thing his family, the people of driftmark need him to marry someone with power. the blood of old valyria needs him to marry someone with power and with connections.
that’s why now he’s set his sight on one of the women from house celtigar. the woman now in charge of house redwyne. he has no fondness for her but she brings power, the fleet and the blood of old valyria with her.
wanted connections
lover: as much as jacaerys loves this woman he can’t be with her for whatever reasons. (we can come up with them) she is in some ways everything to him but he knows he can’t lose his chance for stronger ties.
enemies: he's a manipulative man and he’s got no love for house celtigar and it’s known by many. his house was made a fool of by house celtigar and there for it’s known that he has no love for the queen of westeros. even if it’s with reason there are obviously some who are opposed.
location : the gardens amidst a gathering / celebration
IT’S MORE THAN A BORE TO watch crowds swirl around you as you stand, empty hands and empty tongues. wylis had never been good at this part of being of house stark, the gatherings that left him breathless with a bubbling anxiety, that twitched in his fingers as he struggled to find anything to occupy himself. bastard children are better neither seen nor heard , it’s what he had been told once by a ruling lord of one of the lesser houses when he’d tried to insert himself in a conversation about the unforgiving nature of winters. the words felt particularly damning today.
he was a novelty, in some respects. a snow that dined amongst the starks, that shared their quarters, that traveled atop their horses. he knew his presence upset those of old, who wished he’d disappear lest he remain a permanent blemish on the good house name. at best, he felt a pawn ; perhaps a particularly useless one, as he couldn’t seem to so much as muster a kind nod in the direction of a good lord or lady. it was the way he spun on his heels - mind made up that he’d be of more use inside where there were spaces to hide than out here, so exposed - that landed him spot in the chest of whoever had been trying to sidestep his shadow. if he was a proper gentleman he would apologize. instead, he chokes on a laugh. “ and would you believe i ‘aven’t even gotten myself a drink yet ? not to worry , i was just heading off. ”
Eventually it would be time for Su Xing to retire to his chambers, he’d been enjoying this gathering for nearly far too long. He’d not found anyone of any real interest to him so he would be leaving alone. It didn’t upset the man too much, as his brother said too many times he needed to learn when to take things easy. This would be his shining moment, Su Xing finally had his chance to actually call it a night.
The last thing he expected when he went to leave was to have someone run into him. It was his one shot of leaving here and he had to find some kind of company. “Simply clumsy then sir?” Raising an eyebrow at the man he looked him over for a moment, his clothes were as shabby as all northerners wore but he didn’t think the man a lord. “All understandable, no harm done. I was trying to make my own exit.”
She thought she would hate this trip. Thought that leaving the familiarity of the Eyrie wouldn’t be good for her but she was wrong. The warm air, bright colours, it pulled her from her thoughts and allowed her a moment to not be reminded of the pain of the past few months. The food was wonderful, the wine was even better and people were talking which meant she had plenty to listen to.
Lilith couldn’t help but explore, her teen self would have loved this opportunity to wonder around Highgarden looking at the architecture and the flowers. She had been so distracted she didn’t notice anyone around her until she gently collided with someone.
“I am so sorry” Lilith said sincerely, “I really should be watching where I’m going. Are you alright?”
There were a dozens of people around and Su Xing was reveling in it. He adored being around others and this was the place for it. Highgarden reminded him of home in some ways, less mountains or the mountain air he loved but it was still relatively similar. He’d been too focused on himself and on his surroundings that he forgot to pay attention to what was right in front of him.
A smaller body knocked against his and he quickly held his hands out to steady the person. The woman he quickly realized. “No, apologizes are mine My Lady.” Taking in the look of her clothing, the symbols he quickly realized who he was speaking to. Lilith Arryn.
His mother’s dear Grafton friend. A woman he’d heard much about but witnessed more when his mother spoke of her. “Lady Arryn, I hadn’t realized I was in the presence of one of the great ladies.”
