A little bit of trouble every once in a while is good for you, Ysabelle Alarik. It keeps you young, as some would say. Besides, wouldn't it get dreadfully boring to follow the rules constantly?
That sounds nice enough to me. Go ahead and lead the way, Ysabelle Alarik! And I'm not admitting to anything, but the dessert for tonight's dinner looks particularly good.
I wouldn't mind it being particularly boring if it keeps me out of trouble. I'm not looking for attention.
It's just a few corridors away. And I'm certainly not supposing that you've snuck into the kitchens. I'm really not. By the way, pardon me for speaking my mind, but is there a reason that you are using my full name every time you speak?
That there is. Oh, but what’s the fun in that? Things in places where they don’t belong is what makes it all the more entertaining, Ysabelle Alarik. And on the contrary, I don’t believe that the floorboards have ever made enough contact with snow to form a proper judgement.
Mostly the south end of the estate, and of course my family’s current residence. Oh, and the kitchens. What did you have in mind, Ysabelle Alarik?
Things in places where they don't belong make other nobles exceedingly uncomfortable. And they get me into trouble - which I try to stay out of. Well, I do suppose you may be right about the snow.
Well, I suppose I could take you to the northern side of the estate? The view of the mountains there are rather spectacular - I do hope you didn't raid the kitchen, though.
Send me a ☠ to hear what my muse would say to your muse's grave.
Pleasure to meet you; Ysabelle Alarik. That’s quite fun to say, actually.
Well, that depends: how do you feel about snow indoors? Because otherwise I’m definitely up to nothing whatsoever. Just taking a stroll of the estate and admiring the new surroundings like any good guest. And sure, why not? Though I’ve seen a good portion of it by wandering around already.
Well, there is a ski slope which I'm sure you are aware of - we could go there if you're up for snow outdoors instead of indoors. Not exactly sure the floorboards would exactly appreciate that.
How about you tell me where you've been and I'll show you the rest of the estate?
Julian Weyer
No worries, really.
That it is. But I get enough of it at court as it is, Miss.. Actually, I don’t quite remember catching your name earlier. Oh, nothing at all. Just taking a stroll.. Admiring the estate. Why exactly do you ask?
My name is Ysabelle Alarik, though I suppose you may call me Belle if you desire.
Oh, nothing. It just seemed as if, well pardon the rude language, up to something. But it's nothing. Would you like me to show you around?
I would like to hope we can all beat the rumours present about us. They are all rather unfortunate.
Indeed. You don't exactly sound very evil and I hope none of your family members are evil either.
You wouldn’t mind escorting me, would you? I don’t want to have to wait around when I have nothing to do. A word won’t be breathed about it— I promise.
Of course; it's this way.
And um, just so I know which part of the wine cellars to bring you to - do you have any preference for any type of liquor, or would you like to see what we have available before you make your choice?
No, no— you’re fine. I was actually wondering if there happened to be a decent place to get some liquor around here.
Well I suppose you could wait for the dinner to be served, or I could ask the kitchen maids to fetch some for you... or I could bring you to the wine cellars myself so you can choose whichever you want? Although I'm not sure what my mistress would think of it, so it would be much appreciated if you didn't tell anyone about this.
No doubt that you will. Yeah, I figured you were a part of the Rydells, considering I’ve never met you before. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ysabelle.
It's a pleasure to meet you too. Well - I was wondering - if I wasn't being too bold to assume - you seemed a bit lost. If I may - shall I show you around, or can I help you with anything?
Oof- Fancy seeing you.. Here. It’s alright, no harm done.
Forget me? I’ll have to mention this to my father. I’m only joking, you can just call me Zach. Your majesty is rather formal, and while it does wonders for the ego I’d much rather prefer being called by name.
I'm very sorry. It won't happen again, Zach.
Calling royalty "your majesty" or "your highness" is proper protocol, though. I was told to use them in any circumstance unless told otherwise, so I suppose I will have to call you Zach.
And... if I may be so bold to ask, what exactly are you doing?
That it does. I don’t see the snow an awful lot either, only occasionally in the winter, the Rydells are lucky to have such a place! I’m almost jealous! It doesn’t snow annually where you are from? Tell me, where is it that you come from?
It does get quite cold, though, and that means my workload gets the slightest bit heavier. Oh - it usually snows in the city where the palace is - it's just that for the past few years I've been returning to my family estate for Christmas. It's much further south so we don't get any snow, and when I return it's usually this... slush that's left.
Trust me, there’s no mistake. I can’t say I remember having met you before, though being an Evergard you never do meet many Rydells, nor their companions for that matter. It’s a shame really. But enough about me, how are you enjoying the trip?
Well, I've never met any Evergards before this trip either, so that makes two of us in the same situation. And thank you for asking, Mena. You're too kind. It's been wonderful. I haven't seen snow for two years.
Not to worry. If I remember correctly it’s your highness, but there’s no need for that. My name is Mena and I’d much prefer that. I envy you, my mother made sure to spend hours getting me to learn the name of everybody here, which as it turns out was completely unnecessary! You must be Ysabelle.
I'm so very sorry. Princess Mena, isn't it? I finally remember; my mind must have been somewhere else. Not trying to memorize everybody's names better was a silly mistake on my part. And yes, my name is Ysabelle. I didn't expect anyone would remember.
True, but I’m fairly sure trying to paint a horse pink was not one of my finest achievements as a little girl.
In that case, you are lucky to have her and, I am certain, she is lucky to have you. Indeed, Rose does seem far nicer than I had been warned to expect. I have only spoken to her briefly though, perhaps I should change that.
That must have been amusing, though. A pink horse running about a castle.
Rosalynn is indeed lovely - I'm sure she isn't as bad as any rumours you have heard about her. In any case, I'm sure none of the Evergards are nearly as horrible as they say you are.
