Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, gotta love Jou and Gomamon's partnership!

Jou is basically the most human out of the kids, scared shitless in this strange world. But Gomamon is there to remind him to grow some balls & be the awesome senpai he's meant to be 💙

Still can't believe my eyes that 20 years later the idea of Sora tightly holding onto Yamato as they elope into the sunset ride on Garurumon is now canon. Something that I only saw in fanart! Ahh it's a beautiful time for Sorato fans♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ

I was looking so forward to ep11, and not just because Sora and Yamato were together, but because the episode also focused on my personal favorite trio!

These three babies are my golden trio for sooo many reasons! All three characters played important roles in each other's character arcs in the original -- Jou caused Yamato to activate his Crest of Friendship (Sora also helped them behind the scenes); Sora continously encouraged and supported Jou despite his cowerdlyness in the beginning; and Yamato and Jou pulled Sora out of the Cave of Darkness. So to have an episode (and potentially two more!) of this underated trio just makes me nostalgic 🤧.

Sorato was never my OTP.

But the amount of Taiora/Takari/Koumi fans hating on it because it destroyed their favorite three ships is just sad.

It makes me wonder if the fandom is like Ash from Pokemon - never growing up while holding this amazing amout of hatred towards Yamato/Matt for ‘stealing Taichi/Tai’s girl’ when it was Sora’s choice and the brunet had nothing to do with it.

It’s like, did you watch the anime at all? Or just the ships?

Because, seriously, this pointless hate has been going on for well over a decade. When will you stop caring about who Sora decided to marry? A fictional character, I remind you.

I think it’s strange when Sorato fans complain about “people caring too much about shipping when Digimon is clearly a show about friendship” while they spend a surprising amount of time “exposing” hints for their OTP. We get it, it’s canon. Now let people ship what they want to, yeah? When Sorato fans argue that people hate their OTP because it’s canon, I wonder if they’ll ever realize it’s hateful Sorato fans that made the couple so highly unpopular. We don’t hate Sora or Yamato, we kinda just hate the arguments and attitude with which you justify it. Sincerely, the rest of the Digimon Community.

OP sounds like a bitter Taiora fan who gets annoyed at Sorato fans for simply shipping Sorato.

1. Sorato is canon. But guess what? That doesn’t mean Sorato fans aren’t allowed to fangirl/fanboy about it, talk about its foreshadowing, learn more about the pairing, etc. That’s being a fan. So all the posts “exposing” hints of Sorato? Legitimate fangirling posts about a pairing. You’re going to hate on a fandom for being fans? Really? I know Taiora fans “expose” hints for the pairing all the time – and while I disagree with those “hints”, it really doesn’t bother me that they do it. They’re being fans of Taiora. It’s cool. So why does it bother you? Tip: You don’t have to read posts about ships you don’t like … so stop reading Sorato posts?

2. It’s not “hateful Sorato fans” who make the couple “highly unpopular”. It’s you, OP, and people like you. You just really don’t like Sorato to the point where you let it (and its fans) affect your own happiness (…). It’s Taiora fans who see Sorato fans being happy about their pairing and getting bitter about it because Taiora didn’t happen due to Sorato’s existence. You’re really just getting pissed off at Sorato fans for shipping Sorato. Admit it, you’d really rather Sorato and its fans just didn’t exist – so you wouldn’t have to see Sorato posts at all. Such as, for example, posts about Sorato “evidence” – which you somehow think is “hateful” rather than fans being fans and therefore loving and discussing all the Sorato interactions, moments and foreshadowing in Adventure. Really? Come on. Any other fans could do that with their OTP – Takari, Joumi, whatever – and you wouldn’t have a problem with it because it doesn’t go against Taiora. We can see through you.

3. Sorato doesn’t actually need “justifying”. It’s canon, as you said so yourself. But fans will always have opinions about it – and whether positive or negative, they can write about it. But again, you really don’t have to read posts about Sorato. I’ve made a lot of posts about Sorato over the past two and a half years – they’re there for other Sorato fans to enjoy, for curious fans who want to know what Sorato is all about to read, and as content for a Sorato fansite (what else would a fansite comprise of?). And as a Sorato fan? I just enjoy writing about them. That’s … being a fan. Not a hateful fan, just … a fan. You like something, you want to spread it and share it. I love Sorato, and one of the reasons I do is because I think the writing for it is smart – and writing a post about that is just being a fan who appreciates the writing for Sorato. How is that negative?

OP, you’re projecting your own hate for Sorato onto its fans. We can ship it and write about it endlessly and it’s not negative at all – it’s simply called being a fan – but you think it is negative because you dislike Sorato and would rather it didn’t exist (and, more importantly, that Taiora existed instead).

You can ship what you want. No one is telling you to do otherwise. But the one thing about “shipping wars” that’s evident is that the losing fandom is the one that likes to go on about it (OP, your post is a prime example). I don’t know any Sorato fan who likes to get involved in a shipping war – but there are quite a few Taiora fans who love shipping wars because they think arguing for their ship somehow validates it. (It doesn’t.) But those Taiora fans will forever be moaning about Sorato (and/or its fans) and continuing the shipping war because they can’t let the fact that Sorato is canon/Taiora isn’t canon go.

Meanwhile, Sorato fans are just happily shipping their ship (… and occasionally dealing with anti-fans who somehow think it’s “wrong” for a Sorato fan to ship Sorato and write about it). Sorato is canon. We get it. But we also get that people can ship whatever the hell they want.

So why don’t you stop caring what Sorato fans are doing and ship your own ship happily?

I love when someone else says exactly what I want to say because I don’t have the effort to reply the way I want to today and I know it would bother me if OP went uncorrected. Thanks, jippy-kandi That being said, no one is saying you’re not allowed to ship what you want to ship, OP. What most Sorato fans want (at least, the ones I regularly speak to) is for others to: 1. Not use blatant sexism when justifying why they don’t like Sorato. Like, “Taichi was friendzoned”/“Yamato stole Sora from Taichi”/“Sora was meant to be with Taichi”. It’s not acceptable and you WILL be called out on it. 2. Don’t make shit up that never happened in canon. ie: Sora dating Taichi. 3. Tagging your hate in the “Sorato” tag. Guaranteed, no one that follows the tag gives a damn about how much you dislike the pairing. Keep in mind, LEGITIMATE CRITICISM IS NOT HATE, such as “I don’t like how the pairing wasn’t explored as much as it could have been.” “Sorato is a fucking useless pairing and anyone who ships it should just die,” is not acceptable. Please understand the difference. If you don’t do those things and you still don’t prefer the Sorato pairing, that’s cool. You do your thing. Guaranteed, no one will really care what you ship as long as you’re courteous about it. Maybe OP is just upset because they’re guilty of doing one of those things and got upset because someone called them out? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*reblogging for all the burn* If Sorato fans feel the “need “to be defensive over their pairing, it’s because they spent a good amont of time (and YEARS) being trashed and ridiculed about exposing actual legitimate reasons to validate their ship. Even after Jippy’s posts and Kakudou’s own words people still find a reason to bring Sorato down by saying stuff like “OH but the rest of the staff clearly didn’t know about that and ships taiora!”as if this would help their case, and so on. That’s why there are some fans who get upset and say things like “JFC get over it”. Also, haters saying sexist stuff and trying to justify the hate for either or both Sora and Yamato just because they got together really doesn’t help.  Ship whatever makes you feel happy, canon or not, but don’t try to talk for the rest of the fandom as if we’re some kind of underdogs who need to keep quiet about showing Sorato evidence, which clearly upsets you.

So like...what about all the Yamato and Sora bashers saying Yamato is a terrible friend because he "stole his best friend's girl"? Or that Sora can't make "the right choice in her love life"? (Ahem hello crest memes). What about all the sexist comments about how Sora is a slut/bimbo/flake because she likes Yamato? Or that she chose Yamato only for his good looks or that he's in a band/a "rockstar"? Are you speaking for them too OP?

I mean c'mon, you don't need to look far to see Sora/Yamato character bashing floating around the fandom. These haters will literally demoralize the characters to justify their contempt for the pairing. And that's not ok.

And well hey, maybe, just maybe, some Sorato fans are eager to point out their hints/evidence/facts because they constantly see antis claiming Sorato "never interacted", "doesn't make sense", "have nothing in common", is "incompatible", "came out of nowhere", yada yada yada. All points that have been refuted time and time again by canon material, reliable sources/interviews and educated guesses based on facts. From my experience, I STILL read inaccurate information/rumors about Sorato. There are actual people out there who think Taichi and Sora dated and that Yamato "got with his best friend's ex". (Yes, someone twitted this lol.)

Let me also point out that Sorato/Sora/Yamato bashing has been around since the beginning of Adventures, way before it was officially announced canon by both the creators of Adventure. Yet even to this day antis still try to downplay its canonicity by saying the creators were "on crack" or that Kakudou was "selfish" because apparently 'everyone else on his team wanted taiora' (keep in mind there has been no proof of this), or that he (the fucking creator/director mind you) doesn't know his characters as well as these antis do. Do you honestly blame us for wanting to defend our OTP from all this bias and stupid hate?

If you're tired of hearing Sorato is canon, then I'm tired of hearing butthurt antis demeaning the pairing and the characters because their ship didn't sail. I'm tired of hearing that Sora 'belongs' to [insert name other than Yamato] as if she is some object to own. I'm tired of hearing Yamato is "better left by himself" because [insert name other than Yamato] deserves love (as if Yamato doesn't??). I'm tired of seeing antis harass Toei to retcon the epilogue so Taiora can be canon and/or not to put Sorato in tri -- basically demanding Toei to ignore the original creator's work. I'm tired of hearing the same old "it came out of no where", "they hardly interacted" (ironically these are also the same antis who ship other pairings that hardly or never interacted lol), or the very common "it doesn't make sense" excuse. (Because in reality if you actually put your bias views aside it does make sense.)

And to be quite frank, I'm tired of hearing people like you singling Sorato fans out as the only ones who eagerly defend their pairing, expose hints for their OTP (as if nooooooobody else does this), are overly passionate of their ship, and are constantly throwing the canon label around. Because let's be real here, I would ship Sorato even if it wasn't canon. That's how fucking awesome they are ;).

So yes I agree that we should all be able to ship what we want. But there is absolutely no reason to bash a ship because it interferes with an OTP, or to fabricate things to make characters out to be bad because they didn't end up with a different person. This goes for ALL SHIP FANDOMS, not just for Sorato. I see bullshit Sorato hate every day. So as long as I keep seeing Sorato/Sora/Yamato bashing, I'm going to keep fighting for them. If people like you don't like it then maybe you should stop saying stupid shit.
