the north americans: Road Trip Gods.

haha reading how all my North American followers don’t bat an eye at all these long road trips was a bit of a “wtf how the hell do you do this, are you guys human” in the european context. Because people are more used to eurorail and flying. And well, generally not used to driving that far without stopping a lot more often- because Europe is smaller and more densely populated, capital cities are much closer etc.

(oh of course, they’re gonna drop by Spain later to round-off their turkish vacation + “visit the people who were kind of our parents but not really since they were pretty lousy at it” trip)

The Official “Log Off” Protest F.A.Q! 

The “Log Off” protest is in response to the recent NSFW ban announced by Tumblr. The ban flags all content the filtering system detects as NSFW, reducing visibility to the community. The system has proven time and time again that is inefficient, oftentimes flagging SFW material as NSFW. 

This SFW material includes art, memes and so on. This ban directly hurts the community and will not solve the actual problems at hand due to the poor flagging system. Because of this, the entire community will suffer.  

So to respond, I propose that every user on Tumblr logs off of Tumblr for 24 hours on December 17th at 12 am EST.

Oh god, finally someone said it. Every time I see words like “jihadist” I want to scream, but I’m not Muslim, so I wasn’t sure I should say anything. 

Jihad means struggle. It doesn’t mean holy war or anything like it. In fact, there is no word in Islam for holy war, because the nature of Islam does not leave room for holy war. Islam has a juridical system, not a Pope who can just say “Go wage holy war.” Conflating the personal nature of jihad with violence is so very gross and it needs to stop. Period.
