Me thinks, if someone just killed the Joker and didnât say anything, Bruce would be fine with it. Maybe not fine fine, but he's not gonna go crazy or anything
Itâs not like Bruce is advocating for the Joker to stay alive. He just doesnât want to be the person to kill him
And itâs not like itâs just the Batfamily thatâs been personally victimized by the Joker. Almost everyone has, especially the citizens of Gotham
Itâd be pretty selfish to kill the Joker solely based on what heâs done to your family specifically. Whichhhhh, I think, is another reason why he hasnât. Batman, at his core, is not a selfish man. He is one of the most selfless people ever, and it is a huge part of his identity and how he continues to fight as Batman
I think heâd be devastated or angry that someone out there might have turned into a murderer for the Joker; he doesn't wish for anyone to go down that path. But, it's not like he's gonna mourn the Joker
He will mourn the man the Joker was before he went crazy, mourn who he couldâve become if only he had tried harder to rehabilitate him, but he will never mourn the man himself. He knows the Joker is evil, and he is very glad heâs gone forever
Maybe he wouldnât outright celebrate, but he would certainly be in a better mood and happy that Gotham is one step closer to being a safer city for all the people living in it
given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that
[Timkon lovesquare au] okay hereâs the part I never posted here! This was a two part comic with the first one exploring superboy going for more traditional superman look (sort of based on an mlb episode where chat noir changes his whole suit and demeanor) after getting shunned by the public and media while this part was about Timâs belief in him inspiring him to just be superboy
Iâve honestly been so busy with two jobs and having like no free time that I barely draw but I want to add more comics to this au đŁđ
Bruce has never understood why other parents complain about how difficult their kids are when theyâre sick, because the batkids actually turn out to be nicer to him when theyâre sick
Theyâre so sweet and docile, listening to his every word and obediently taking their medicine, looking up at Bruce with watery red eyes and awaiting praise
The only thing they request is Bruceâs attention and lots and lots of cuddles
He doesnât know it, but thatâs only for Bruce. Being sick is just an excuse to act sweet to him without getting embarrassed
Bruce had to go to a meeting at the company for a bit, and called Clark to come take care of his kids. He went over what meds to take at what time and who likes what blanket, but other than that, there wasnât really any briefing. He didn't think he had any reason to
To this day, Clark talks about that time as if he were fighting Darkside himself
Dick wouldnât sit down for anything. No matter what Clark bribed him with, the moment he turned his back, Dick was up and moving, despite having thrown up five seconds ago. He was also bothering everyone and talking over whatever show or movie all the kids had finally agreed upon. He was trying to land a flip while also doing his best not to throw up. It did not work. Clark almost threw up cleaning it before throwing a blanket over him when he finally collapsed
Jason wouldnât even look at Clark. And anytime he did it was with utter disgust that truly hurt Clarkâs feelings, even if the younger man was sniffling with a bright red nose. He's always been standoffish with Clark since he was a kid, but Clark thought he got over his jealousy after he explained he wasn't trying to steal Bruce's attention. He has not, he's just good at hiding it. Clark threw a blanket over him and decided to deal with it later
Cassandra lunged at him the moment he tried to put a cold compress on her forehead. He wasn't expecting it, so he barely dodged, even with his superspeed. She let out a low growl, and Clark seriously didn't know what to do with that kind of hostility. He kinda just threw a blanket over her and hoped for the best while she dozed off in Bruceâs favorite chair. He didn't dare disturb her unless it was time for her to take her medicine
Tim turned the brightness of all his devices to the max, even though it made him dizzy and gag, because he claimed he couldnât see through his watery eyes. It didnât help that he had to be kept separate from his other siblings so he didnât get worse. He kept trying to sneak off to be with everyone, and Clark couldnât let him, but he got so sad thinking about it, so he divided the living room where they were all staying in half with pillows, so Tim could still be in the room but not too close to anyone. He then threw a blanket over him and moved his devices away
Steph, on the other hand, was trying to sneak over to see Tim, which was bad. Logically, he knew they all understood Tim was vulnerable, but being sick seemed to devolve their thinking processes. She also continued asking for food, and when Clark brought it over, sheâd gag and push it away. She then asked Clark to make something, and when he presented it to her, she gagged so hard she threw up, so Clark also threw a blanket over her head
Duke, while the calmest, was not easy to handle either. He would just stare. Clark expected that from any other child under Bruceâs wing, but not Duke. Duke would turn himself invisible to stare at Clark, but Clark got goosebumps all over his skin nonetheless. Super hearing can only do so much when the person sneaking around you is trained by Batman himself. He threw a blanket over Duke and prayed he didn't remove it
Damian insisted on having all his pets near him at all times, then got scared his sickness would transfer over to them and cried so hard he threw up. Clark deposited him in Cassandraâs lap after cleaning him up, just so he could have some comfort, and gave him his phone so he could watch all the videos he wanted of the cows on the farm. He then threw an animal print blanket over him
And all of them, yes, all, would randomly burst into tears and call out for Bruce. Each time, he would have to deliver the devastating news that he still wasnât back, then be subjected to all seven glares, which was a lot to handle. He wanted to fly into the attic and hide, but he promised Bruce he would try his best, and he was bound by moral obligation
Yes, Clark tries to appeal to the masses and children by wearing bright colors, but heâs never claimed to be good at handling children. In fact, his parents would say heâs the opposite
He can handle it for short amounts of time, but carrying them and having to interact with them for an extended period of time? Fuck no. He's never had to clean up or make throw up as in that moment. He will not do it again
When Bruce comes back, all his kids are absolute angels again, if not a little more pushy, so they can cling to him without Clark being there. They whine and tug Bruce into the living room so they can pile on top of him (Tim has a mask on) and bury him under their combined weight
Bruce simply doesnât believe a word of what Clark says. Those are his babies. And even if they did do that⊠whatever
The Justice League are about to go on a diplomatic mission, and it's a massive deal. If this goes wrong, countless galaxies go to war, so there's lots of heroes like Oliver present, helping the Founders prepare to leave.
Not long ago, Wally had come in with the diplomacy gifts from the Xanathe, the impartial alien race hosting the negotiations on their planet. They'd arrived earlier, and went straight to one of the labs to be scanned for any dangerous materials. "They're not dangerous!" Wally had announced, to everyone's relief, and the gifts were handed out.
Today might be a high-pressure event, and Oliver knows he's not the only one dreading the prospect of something going wrong, which is why they're prepping so exactly. Even still, preparations slow for a moment, everyone wanting to see what the gifts are. Oliver catches Wally's eye and gives him a questioning look, but the little brat just grins and shakes his head.
Diana opens hers first, and pulls out a gold laurel wreath she happily dons, exchanging her usual tiara for it with a smile.
Arthur pulls out a crown too, with ancient Atlantean etchings around it. He doesn't translate it for them, but stands taller, smiles slightly when he reads it, before putting it on.
J'onn produces the robes of, apparently, a traditional Martian diplomat. He becomes quiet emotional, and they all give him a moment to collect himself before he exits the room, returning in them quickly, radiating pride. Oliver, personally, thinks he looks more comfortable in them than his usual suit, and considers talking to the Martian after all of this, and checking in on him.
Barry receives a signet ring he giddily shows off to them, his symbol stamped on it proudly, the slightly different symbols of his successors lining the inside.
Hal grins at the sight of his, a medal that clips onto the chest of his uniform. He does not tell them what it means, but he stands slightly taller after attaching it, then doubles over with a laugh as Oliver and Barry spontaneously psychically connect, and wolf whistle him together.
Clark seems nervous opening his, eyes darting to the other meaningful gifts around the room, but reveals a large gold band, gold metal shaped like alien script weaved together. He squints at it, confused, and Bruce takes it from him, and fastens the arm cuff around his bicep. Clark nods at him, slightly teary as he reads the kryptonian text tied around his arm. Oliver squints at it, able to recognise Kal-El, and leans forward in his seat, trying to make out the last part with his mediocre Kryptonian.
He takes it letter by letter, and then sees why Clark got all emotional, seeing Kent included in his name by the aliens.
Then the room goes suffocatingly silent, and Oliver looks up, confused, wondering what he missed. He scans the room quickly, seeing the concerned, curious expressesions, until he spots Bruce, who looks half-ready to collapse into his chair.
Oliver sits up, seeing an expression on Bruce he's never quite able to forget, even if they're not friends like they were in their youth, and it's been years since it was his business. But, hes still able to immediately know exactly what the Xanathe gifted Bruce ahead of the negotiations, and gets out of his chair. Everyone else is still, so several pairs of eyes dart to him, silently telling him to sit back down, don't cause trouble.
Nightwing starts to walk towards his dad, but Oliver puts a hand on Dick's shoulder, stopping him. It earns him a venomous look, but he ignores it, and pushes the young man back, and takes his place in approaching Bruce.
Sure enough, he sees exactly what he expected in the box, and sighs as the pearls catch the light beautifully where they sit in the box.
"Chin up," Oliver instructs softly, stripping his gloves off.
Bruce gives him a tired look, but doesn't deck him, so Oliver takes it as a win. They might not get along much any more, but they grew up together. Oliver knew him before the murders, and after. He knows how to deal with Bruce when he gets in his head about his mother.
Oliver picks up one of the earrings. The room gets even more tense as they realise what significant momento the Xanathe chose for Bruce.
He gently slides the earring into Bruce's old piercing. He's not seen the man wear earrings in years, but there's little resistance to the jewelery, and he fastens it with the muscle memory from decades ago, when they would help each other prepare for galas.
He fastens the second earring too, and lifts the necklace gently. Bruce's jaw flexes, and Oliver reaches behind him, fastening the clasp of it, then arranges the layered strings of pearls against his chest. The Xanathe asked they don't wear their uniforms during peace negotiations, so they don't give the impression they're preparing for hostile action, so he's not in the batsuit, which is packed away on the Javelin, along with everyone else's suits.
Instead, he wears a simple black suit, much like the others, excluding Hal, and now J'onn. They're all in suits, to show their Earthly links as an independent intermediary, their only differences being in colour, or emblems.
Oliver settles the pearls against his chest, and looks at the other man, admiring how his face has changed. Bruce is the spitting image of Thomas, he has been since he was a child, but when he dresses slightly more feminine, when he dons jewellery like he did when they were younger, that is when Martha's genes shine through, and he becomes a carbon copy of Martha Wayne.
Oliver turns Bruce so he's facing the large window looking out into space, and can see his own reflection. "See," he hums, lifting the other man's chin so he stands straighter. "Just like your mother. Born to wear pearls."
