Environmental Protection Research at Yuvabharathi Public School
Yuvabharathi Public School, Coimbatore, actively promotes environmental awareness and hands-on learning by encouraging students to participate in eco-projects, research programmes, and conservation initiatives. These efforts help students develop a strong sense of responsibility toward nature while applying academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
Earlier this year, the school launched The Loud Silence, a book that highlights ecological concerns and the need for sustainable practices. This initiative was followed by a wildlife photography exhibition titled The Birds of Krishnampathy Lake, which marked the culmination of a year-long, student-led conservation project. The project was carried out under the guidance of Sathish Ramamoorthy, Founder of Tree NGO, and focused on documenting and protecting local bird habitats.
Innovation and technology play a crucial role in the school’s learning ecosystem. One notable achievement is by Rishi Menon, a Grade 9 student, who developed a 3D-printed prosthetic beak for an endangered African grey parrot. The beak was designed using Blender, prototyped in TinkerCAD, and produced using a 3D printer at the school’s ATL Lab. Such innovations demonstrate how technology can be used compassionately to support wildlife rehabilitation.
