One reason I left the Welcome Home fandom was initially because of the sexualization of the AUs and characters. And now, they haven't hesitated to do it again.
While I was on TikTok, a video popped up that was clearly humorous and mentioned the Teacher Wally AU. Being very curious, I started looking into what that AU was and why it was considered problematic.
It turned out that this AU dealt with the topic of the PDF, and obviously I was disgusted to find that out, and (I admit it's largely my fault) I started looking at the creator's account and the comments. I'm just saying that every each person was praising the creator of the AU and the "attractiveness" of Wally and Home and the artistic style
Among them was one asking if the account owner was the true creator of the AU and the answer was yes, and that someone else had deleted his account without asking him.
I wanted to check out other accounts and saw one belonging to a "fan" of the AU; the account was dedicated to edits and fan art of it. Among all their videos, there was an advertisement for a WhatsApp group, so I joined on my own and There were a lot of messages, with almost 100 people united in that group
You or some others might say, "But why are you so alarmed? The AU has been around since 2024," well I tell you that that same group is still active, I literally recorded the most recent conversations and there are some from TODAY and among them they started talking about "why are people so alarmed if they're just pixels, fictional characters?".
If anyone wants to watch those channels, they should know that they are all in spanish clearly.
