You weren’t.

You weren’t a bad kid, and you didn’t deserve to be hit. Maybe you were a difficult kid, maybe you struggled with boundaries or rules or expectations. Maybe you had bad behavior much of the time. But you, yourself, were not and are not a BAD person for that, and you didn’t EARN violence. You didn’t have it coming. It shouldn’t have happened to you.

It’s not violence, violence would be beating children. Spanking then when you’re out of options is what a sensible parent does. Look believe what you want but when you’re kid turns out to be a brat and you can’t stop then don’t cry about it.

Hi there. Actual kid who was beaten as a child, and has grown up with people who have needed to be smacked, stepping in to say some things.

No, you don’t need to beat your kid.

But in some cases a form of punishment does work. Giving your kid a light smack on the head works, surprisingly.

It’s a form of discipline. It’s not child abuse.

Child abuse is grabbing your kid and choking them to death death or slamming them around in a garbage back.

Slapping your kid in the back of your head once, or smacking their arm with a wooden spoon is a form of punishment and the pain serves as a reminder that what they did was wrong.

It sets in the mindset that the punishment could be avoided if they did the right thing, and has them choose the better outcome for future reference.

If you as a parent don’t want to smack you kid, so be it. I’m not judging. You do you.

Same goes vice versa.
