The true purpose of Zen is,
to see things as they are,
to observe things as they are,
and to let everything go as it goes.

Sri Annamalai Swami was a disciple of Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi. He came to Bhagavan at the age of 22 and served him devotedly for many years. Through Bhagavan's grace and rigorous sādhana, he attained Self-realization.

I asked her:
What have you attained after all these years of spiritual practice and seeking?
I got rid of myself.
Now there is no one left to seek.
And in that answer, everything became still.
Not a person who achieved something.
Not a me who reached enlightenment.
But the clear seeing that the one who was seeking was never found as a real entity in the first place.
Seeking only exists as long as there is someone believed to be seeking.
When it is seen that even that sense arises and disappears in awareness,
the entire structure falls silent.
What remains is life as it is. Without an owner.
Without a center. Without anyone trying to get somewhere.
Just this.
