I just want to express and have a place to put all my ideas and opinions, being a spectator of a stage called the Internet.
Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening. I just wanted to say that I have an Instagram and a TikTok account, but I don't post anything there. And you know what? I'd like to be able to build a community.
Why? I have future ideas that I'd like to develop and do properly, not just write about them here. I'm not asking for or demanding a whole fandom revolving around me, but it's a way to grow and make myself known.
My problem is that I can't draw. Well, I can, but it's pretty basic, and I don't draw unless it's convenient. I mean, I've posted some drawings here, but only a few, and I don't want to just post a drawing that came out and leave it at that, making my followers wait a year for more. I don't think I can just take a screenshot and post it.
Here, I've had the opportunity to share my ideas, and even though it's not my responsibility to be posting or doing this, I find it useful, and I hope this continues and improves...
What do you think? Do you have any advice or ideas?
By the way, I have about 3 Transformers infection AUs: Legion of Quintetransformers, Acid-Forming Plants, and Permanformers. I've critiqued and talked about fanfics, Sonic and Transformers stuff, other fandoms like the Metal Cardbots series or Ninjago, and random opinions, i even made a whole summary of a Korean series that not even Koreans themselves know about, which I labeled as British Alliance or La Alianza Britanica, so you have an idea of what I talk about more or less.

Another AMV, this time with Kikuo's song, "The Girl Who Sells Misfortune." Again, I made it on a whim, but it was because of this.
That's where my inspiration came from. Although this is actually easier because the animations are on YouTube, and you can easily search for them, unlike with anime, for example.
Thinking about it, the Beast Cookies technically act like victims, with their arrogance stemming from being more powerful than others. They justify this by claiming that, since they suffered more than others, the world should suffer for them, and therefore, according to them, they have the right to do so.
Of course, their motivations are different: Mystic Flour losing all sense of purpose, Eternal Sugar, unable to bear that happiness was fleeting and even resorting to self-harm to achieve it, Silent Salt, witnessing the deaths of his friends and falling into despair and hatred towards his corrupted companions, Burning Spice descending into madness from practically living in a cycle of life and death, and Shadow Milk also succumbing to madness because lies were the easy path for the cookies. Interestingly, the first three genuinely have good intentions, but they do more harm than good due to arrogance, believing they know far more and better than everyone else, while the other two have genuine intentions of causing harm for pleasure. Anyway, too much text xd
I stumbled across two Pure Vanilla x Shadow Milk children in a row: Tres Leches Cookie by erealinasan and Vanilla Mousse Cookie by mousjoy, and surprise! They're tragic.
And I don't mean that in a bad way; they're clearly not the only couples with tragic children, I'm sure there are many more, but I wanted to mention it. Undoubtedly, if they had a child, it would depend on several circumstances, or even their environment.
1) The relationship between them: If it were an accident, Pure Vanilla would raise the baby alone (with the help of his friends), and Shadow Milk would probably ignore it and convince himself that nothing happened, or simply use the child for his own benefit.
If their relationship were casual, it would still be an accident, but it could be problematic. Shadow Milk would surely say something like, "Oh, let's get rid of this thing and go back to how things were before," and Pure Vanilla can't stand those words or those ideas. Even if they stay together, they'll continue to argue.
If they had planned it, it could have turned out better. By "planned," I mean that Pure Vanilla would practically beg Shadow Milk to have a child with him. Clearly, they must have a relationship of trust, but without a label defining their relationship, both of them could be better off.
2) Information: If they completely hide the truth about his origins and Shadow Milk's past from him, the truth could hit him very hard when he finally discovers it, even shattering him mentally.
If they tell him little by little from a young age, he could assimilate it much better and learn from past mistakes.
3) Affection: Clearly, Pure Vanilla will be the one to show affection, but it's important to consider that, although he feels empathy, he doesn't fully understand others (like White Lily). So, of course, like any parent, he would have difficulty understanding his child. He would also be absentminded, perhaps forgetting that his child needs to eat or that he could get lost exploring the kingdom.
On the other hand, Shadow Milk would have problems with affection. She already has several problems, so she might do anything but show genuine love to her son. Or, conversely, she might show affection, but she would spoil and pamper him excessively, making it difficult for him to say no. Pure Vanilla would have to set boundaries and teach him right from wrong, and she would probably be overprotective of her son.
3) Others: There's always the issue of others, since not everything is the parents' fault or responsibility. But the important thing here is how much others know.
If they knew of her existence and, therefore, who her parents were, she would undoubtedly be the target of rumors, gossip, and even bullying, all revolving around her mental state, her power, and her father, Shadow Milk. She would surely also face the social pressure of being as talented and kind as Pure Vanilla. Even if they didn't know everything, rumors would still circulate, and there would be people who would bully her because of it.
I think they would keep it a secret. They wouldn't be so naive as to announce to everyone that they have a child, as if no one would say anything or truly support them. It would be like handing him over on a silver platter. Shadow Milk doesn't want to decide what kind of relationship he has with Pure Vanilla, much less based on other people's opinions. If that happened, he'd be exposed to everyone, and he'd rather die than allow it. Pure Vanilla would be more astute, since they clearly wouldn't accept him just like that, no matter how much they loved their king. Although, of course, there wouldn't be the anxiety factor with that detail.
And finally, if only one of them raised him, Pure Vanilla would obviously do a good job, regardless of the circumstances of where the kid came from. What he would have to keep in mind is understanding his son and supporting him properly, teaching him self-confidence and good values. But he also has his friends, who would practically be his aunt and uncle. Although he would surely be disappointed in Shadow Milk, he could move on.
Shadow Milk would likely raise him like any other henchman, like Black Sapphire and Candy Apple, but taking Pure Vanilla as an example, he would do the same as before, only being downright neglectful and abusive. In fact, that's what happens to Vanilla Mousse. Pure Vanilla dies after giving birth, Shadow Milk mentally collapses, even more than she already was, and disappears from the world with her, reverting to her old destructive habits with her two henchmen.
So what happened to Tres Leches to make it so tragic? Well, firstly, Shadow Milk showed no affection despite feeling it; he was never taught the truth about his origins or who he once was. Things must be really messed up for Candy Apple, the most loyal and devoted Shadow Milk fan, to tell her she should tell him the truth. On top of that, she suffered bullying from the other kids who despised her for being Shadow Milk's daughter and for her appearance—she has two eyes on the sides of her hair, and they're not like Shadow Milk's, no, they're literally two bulging eyes. She suffered from depression, and her parents did everything they could to cheer her up, but nothing worked. Since then, she believes she shouldn't have been born.
Although, in reality, all of this is Pure Vanilla's fault, since it was his idea. I mean, he spent two years asking Shadow Milk for a child, and he explains why right as they're creating their child with a professional named Strawberry Cocoa Cake Cookie (longer name, drop the "cake," plus she seems suspicious of something). The thing is, even though he's shown Shadow Milk in a thousand and one ways that he loves him, Shadow Milk still doubts him, so he wants to give Shadow Milk a gift, someone who will love him simply for existing. Which sounds nice and all, but thinking about it, it seems more like Pure Vanilla is trying to use his own daughter as a therapy cat for his other father, kind of like giving a dog for Christmas to an annoying kid.
Basically, there's an 80% chance the child will be traumatized for life, a 29% chance they'll be a jerk but a good person with problems with their parents, and the remaining 1% is for those who are just cute and adorable kids with happy parents.

While I understand your point, and in fact, you're absolutely right (although you could have explained it in the post itself instead of the tags), I don't think it's wrong to think they can be redeemed (you're not blaming anyone, but it's worth mentioning). I say this because the story itself implies that they can be redeemed, that they can be more than just villains or irredeemable beasts, but the problem is that this is never explored, never questioned, and given the direction the story is taking, they no longer matter as villains or if they could be redeemed; they'll just be guided down a path that makes the story look cooler and allows them to be exploited as plot devices.By the way, don't worry about Dark Enchantress; she was defeated as the villain she is, though I think that unfortunately, her henchmen will just be sidelined so that Shadow Milk can continue to shine.
Is it me or is the entire plot of crk kinda made of these individuals trying to better the world by doing whatever they think is right but there are multiple opinions on how to make the world a better place and everyone kinda just ignores these different opinions to do whatever they want so while they were all trying to prevent a big fuck up they all collectively cause a catashrophic fuck up not because they were all wrong but because nobody rose criticism on said opinions
New information has been revealed in the prologue of Act 2, Cookie Run Kingdom: (SPOILERS if you're new or haven't seen the latest update. Besides a lot of text, this is just me complaining because I'm not liking any of this anymore, even though I brought it on myself by getting into a game knowing it would have extensive lore.)
The Soul Jams actually have their own consciousness and split into two factions, one good, one bad, motivating Elder Faerie to lie about the beasts being sealed away by the witches and scatter them across the world to find new vessels, as they call their hosts. And I don't see the point of any of this; it simply doesn't make sense.
We've reached a point where we're just complicating the story more and more than it already is. I mean, why? I don't understand why. Why do they have consciousness as if they were living beings? If they do have them, why do they need hosts with feelings, goals, ambitions, and their own morality if the Virtues were fully conscious beings dedicated to fulfilling their duty without fail? The witches should have just created bodies for the Soul Jams, and none of this would be happening.
And yes, fans have already imagined what Soul Jams would look like if they had some kind of consciousness, but not like this, damn it! Not like this. I imagined that Soul Jams possessed the will of their hosts, a bit like them, but containing their Virtue. Therefore, I theorized that Shadow Milk's Soul Jam motivated him to become corrupted because it was a part of Shadow Milk's own will, driven by his desire to have someone to philosophize with, and he gave it to his Soul Jam in a twisted way, almost as an excuse to finally abandon his duty. But no.
Elder Faerie could have continued the lie that it was the witches' doing, as he agreed with Silent Salt, with or without soul jams, and these could have dispersed after being left without a host, or Elder Faerie himself could have done so, even to hide them, consciously or unconsciously.
My biggest problem is, WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS STORY? If they're going to drag it out, at least make the most of the plot threads they've already developed, because, for example, the broken relationship between Dark Cacao and Dark Choco, the meeting of the estranged sisters Tiger Lily and Princess, the other dragons, the Vanilla Kingdom, exploring more characters like the guardians, giving Chili Pepper and Custard III some prominence again, etc., are things that will never be resolved at this point.
So why were the beasts presented to us as if they were anything more than just villains, if in the end they were only going to be used as a narrative device to advance the story? Why did we care about them in the first place if that's all they were going to be? Why did they present us with the possibility of redemption if they were never going to finish exploring that? It wasn't about them redeeming themselves because they had tragic pasts or becoming completely good, but about seeing them progress, seeing what would happen, what kind of fate would they have in the end.
Sorry for the long text, and yes, there's no need to get worked up about it; it's a game, and Devsisters is a company. They're not going to write a perfect story, especially if it doesn't sell, but I just wanted to vent (as I like to do, and I practically created this account to do it). AND IT'S FINE IF YOU LIKE THIS OR HOW DEVSISTERS IS DOING, GOOD FOR YOU, DUDE. The best thing at this point is that you can simply invent your own lore based on the game's lore, and that's it, problem solved. Like Five Nights at Freddy's.

Como Five Night's at Freddy's.

Look, here's an AMV I made. The song isn't mine; it was made by Ivycomb, and it's a fansong of The Cult of the Lamb "False Idol." Now I understand how difficult it must be for people who make these kinds of edits. The hardest part was cutting out the scenes and downloading them.
I made it purely on a whim, don't expect me to make more, I'll just think about it.
Since it's been confirmed that the First Cookies, special cookies from Cookie Run Witch's Castle, are the creators of the five beasts, I thought about their reactions if they found out about all the terrible things the previous five virtues have done and suffered.
First Milk, the creator of Shadow Milk, would be devastated. She already suffers from guilt over past mistakes and events that aren't even clear or well-remembered, but she would be utterly devastated to discover that she created a cookie only to abandon it, causing it to go berserk and use others for its own benefit. Even with her development of understanding that she also needs care, it's clear she's sensitive and empathetic towards others. Even if she were to forgive, she couldn't bear the consequences.
First Salt and First Sugar would be disappointed in Silent Salt and Eternal Sugar. First Sugar would be especially hurt by what they had to endure, but together with First Salt, who remains level-headed due to her complete impartiality, they would put them on trial for their actions. They would surely do the same with the other beasts.
(The above are confirmed, the below are not; it's just fan speculation/headcanon.)
The creator of Burning Spice is between First Sprinkle and First Choco, but he would likely suffer the most. First Sprinkle, with her increased empathy, could understand her but scold her for what she did. However, without her, she would do nothing and only reprimand her for not fulfilling her role for all eternity. Meanwhile, First Choco would be disappointed and would impose a punishment equal to or worse than what the Salt and Sugar sisters or any other cookie would give her.
First Grain Cookie, creator of Mystic Flour (due to the wheat theme), might be the only one who truly understands what the beasts went through. Her animation showed her past as a witch, where her people suffered from famine. She helped by creating a garden and managed to save them, but her people became greedy and persecuted her, wanting more and more, until she was finally saved by First Cream Cookie, also a witch.
So, basically, the only witch who could bear to understand and forgive the beasts for what they did would be First Grain Cookie. Of course, this doesn't mean she would let Mystic Flour and the others go unpunished. And perhaps the other witches, like First Cream Cookie, could also understand.
Personally, I don't agree with the idea that First Cookies created Beast Cookies. It seems like an attempt at a multiverse, trying to connect their games, when their stories are clearly incomplete and there's a lot of ambiguity about who they really are and what surrounds them. Besides, I doubt they'll explore it or that it will be relevant beyond fan fiction and fan reactions. But anyway, it's not the worst thing they've done to fill a plot hole or try to create continuity.

Shadow Milk Cookie (from Cookie Run Kingdom) and Starscream (from Transformers) are similar.
They're both the jesters of their respective franchises.
They're sadistic, enjoying the suffering of others.
They're arrogant, acting as if they have more rights and superiority than others, whom they consider inferior beings.
This makes it difficult or even impossible for them to connect with people beyond their existing already know companions/allies.
They suffer from loneliness because of this, but their arrogance overwhelms them, and they refuse to change, no matter how much their lifestyle hurts both themselves and others.
They're treated like fools by everyone else.
They each have someone who wants them to change for the better, even though makes them suffer (Pure Vanilla Cookie, and sometimes it depends but mostly it's Skyfire/Jetfire or even Bumblebee).

Oigan...
no. no, Starscream is NOT a jester. he is JUST a bitch. he doesn't tell it like it is, he hides behind everything and everyone so he doesn't get squished like the bug he is.
True, true, I'm not saying they're copies of each other, they have their different traits (especially Starscream because of the different media of series and comics) but hey, they both have a god complex, and I'm just saying that
Shadow Milk Cookie (from Cookie Run Kingdom) and Starscream (from Transformers) are similar.

Oigan...
story analysis of the Diverged Paths costume set story with pure vanilla's truthless recluse and shadow milk's sage of truth, chunk by fucking chunk because i am INSANE and the parallels keep stacking up. they are the same in every universe. even this one.
this is an essay post and it is long. i am rambling a lot. i dissect certain lines in the story and talk about word choice. i also talk about how many parallels there are in this story to beast-yeast ep 7-8. i swear to god it makes sense. i am a writer by the way. fuck. anyways enjoy my insanity.

"Quiet, quiet! Our lecture will resume shortly! Please take your seats in a timely fashion!"
A sonorous voice filled the old, quaint square. The voice belonged to a peculiar Cookie dressed in white and gold. Surrounded by a crowd of spectators, this mysterious Cookie now stood in the center of the square. He had just finished reciting an epic poem and was now explaining a convoluted philosophical concept to a freshly-baked flock, wide-eyed with wonder.
"The Sage of Truth," they called him.
Setting the scene here, this is an "old, quaint square". The Sage is described here as "peculiar" and "mysterious", indicating that the cookies around him think he's odd. I'll return to the word "mysterious" later.
The word "flock" used here is also an interesting choice; a "flock of sheep". It's a backhanded way to call these cookies "sheep", which is used often in a derogatory way to indicate someone is unable to think for themself or unable to think critically at all, and just plays follow the leader instead of forging their own beliefs.
What's also an interesting thing to note is that the cookies call him "the Sage of Truth". The way this is phrased implies he didn't come up with that name, that he let the cookies name him. That, or he was waiting to be asked his name and was never asked, which I believe is also likely.
It almost seemed as if the Sage of Truth had always stood in that spot, sharing truths and teachings with anyone interested. With time, more and more Cookies came to listen to the Sage. Some said he was a professor of magic, others claimed he was an archivist, until an eager disciple decided to put an end to this dispute with a question. As always, the Sage welcomed the query with a graceful gesture.
Pointing upwards, he uttered, "I hail from a peak so tall and narrow, it pierced the firmament itself!"
His confounding reply caught everyone by surprise. Only then did the disciples realize that never once had the Sage spoken about himself. Yet, they wished for the lectures to continue and chose never to pry again.
The phrase here, "always stood in that spot", makes him seem more like an object, and less like a person with his own thoughts and feelings. The fact that the cookies begin to come up with things to say about him, that being that he's "a professor of magic", or that he's "an archivist", instead of asking him directly further lends to this line of thinking of him as an object.
This next part, where he is finally asked a question about himself, he exhibits two pieces of body language that show up later in the story at crucial moments. First, when he "welcomes" the query, he is being truthful about it; he wants more of these types of questions about himself. Second, when he "points upwards", he is lying; he claims to "hail from a peak so tall and narrow, it pierced the firmament itself!"
It is an exaggerated fib about the truth. This statement is immediately described as "confounding", meaning surprising or confusing especially in the context of not aligning with the inquirer's expected answer. The disciples then immediately realize that the Sage had never spoken about himself. Paired with such a confusing statement, one might think that such a realization would prompt more questions about the Sage himself, but instead, the disciples decide to focus on the knowledge he gives instead of wanting to learn about him, and so, never ask him another question about himself again.
This is why the Sage is described as "mysterious". They have never asked, and he has never told. The one time he was asked about himself, he said something exaggerated and outlandish; one can only assume he was trying to bait more questions of that nature, only for them to never come.
Another day, another fascinating lecture came to a close. The sky above began to tinge with red and Cookies headed back to their homes when a stranger entered the square.
The visitor was draped in a dark cloak and donned an enormous hat that cast a shadow over his face. The Cookie stood there without saying a word and watched the Sage. The silence was broken by the Sage’s courteous greeting, his eyes having already discerned the shadow of despair hanging over the guest.
"I don't believe I've seen you here before, my friend…! Alas, today's lecture is over. Care to come back on the morrow?"
Yet, the dark visitor paid no heed to his words.
"Stop teaching about the Truth."
"Why must I?" inquired the Sage.
Setting the scene again for the debut of the Truthless Recluse. He approaches the square when the sun is setting and the sky is turning red, which is a nice bit of contrasting symbolism to Pure Vanilla representing the sun itself.
The Sage takes initiative to greet the Recluse, and immediately defaults to letting the Recluse know that he's done lecturing for the day instead of asking the Recluse about himself (not even a "How are you doing?"). One could speculate that this is a learned behavior; he is used to being used by the cookies who want knowledge from him, is never asked about himself, and as such, never asks personal questions of anybody else either.
But next, the Recluse addresses him directly, talks to him directly about the nature of what he does instead of asking for knowledge or treating him like something to wring answers from. This is probably the first time he's been talked to like this. It's a command, and he answers with a question of his own; the holder of the virtue of knowledge... answers with a question. "Why must I?"
The guest only grinned in reply and stepped closer. For the first time, a ray of light illuminated his face, and the Sage of Truth exclaimed delightedly.
"Aaahh, if it isn't the Truthless Recluse himself. To what do I owe such a pleasure?"
His monocle glistened with genuine curiosity.
"It is said that the Truthless Recluse never descends from the Peak of Truth… How may this humble scholar be of service to you?"
It's interesting that the Sage recognizes the Recluse as soon as his face is revealed. It might indicate that they've met before, especially considering the Sage previously claimed to hail from what we can assume is the same peak the Truthless Recluse has stationed himself at.
The Sage is delighted to see the Recluse, and finally asks the Recluse a personal question, but phrases the question in an interesting way. "How may this humble scholar be of service to you?".
Calling himself humble could mean two things; that he is really a prideful person and is lying by calling himself humble to hide this fact, or, that, in choosing a passive adjective to describe himself with, he is attempting to deflect any aggression he might receive by asking a personal question. It could be both.
He also takes care to point out that he is "being of service".
The Recluse's eyes brimmed with sorrow.
"Stop pretending. You know all too well that there is nothing at the Peak of Truth."
The Sage clapped his hands.
"Eureka! At last, the answer to the age-old question is found! Why the Recluse never leaves his beloved peak vacant! Why every Cookie who neared true enlightenment was inevitably pushed back from the ascension they so craved!"
The Recluse directly calls him a liar. "Stop pretending". The Sage of Truth is a liar! He tells lies and the Recluse can see right through them! But at least he has one thing going for him; he didn't name himself the Sage of Truth. The cookies did. They assumed he would never lie, and because nobody questions him, he has never been caught lying.
Cross referencing to canon Shadow Milk, we know that he holds resentment towards other cookies for just believing every word he said was truthful; being called out on a lie is probably something that's never happened before, especially not to the Sage of Truth.
On top of that, the Recluse is previously described as "a stranger", and the Sage mentions never having "seen him before" in the square where this takes place. All of that tied together means that the Recluse never heard the Sage's exaggerated fib about being from the Peak of Truth, and yet, somehow knows that the Sage is from the Peak of Truth. This is further evidence that the Sage and the Recluse have met before.
Upon being called a liar, the Sage of Truth reacts with delight, only to immediately deflect and deceive again. He turns the subject away from himself.
He tilted his head, expecting a confirmation. "All this time, my best hypothesis was that the Peak of Truth had been seized for good by some petty curmudgeon. Do you mean to say you sought only to protect seekers from disappointment?"
The Recluse did not bother to deny the Sage's words for he loathed the Sage for guiding Cookies right into the maw of the cruel Truth.
"I, too, once made the same mistake, and for that, faced despair upon the Peak… There was no Truth expecting me. No Truth to save us all. And I cursed myself hundreds, thousands of times over for my folly."
And all his sorrow and despair surged forth in a single question.
"Why do you persist?!"
"... seized for good by some petty curmudgeon". There's so much going on in this sentence.
If the Sage really does hail from the Peak of Truth, saying it was "seized" puts himself into a "helpless" position. If he cared about the Peak of Truth, what's stopping him from going to take it back? He is, after all, the holder of the virtue of knowledge, a godly power in his own right. Saying it was "seized" puts him in a helpless position and absolves him of any blame for anything that happens to it. Holding the power that he does at his fingertips also implies he doesn't care about the Peak of Truth at all, and is content to let it fall.
He says he'd thought the Truthless Recluse was a "petty curmudgeon"; I'll admit I had to look this word up, but it means a stubborn, ill-tempered person, typically an old man. Really funny actually, but he's negating this insult.
The Sage asks if the Recluse is turning cookies away from the truth to protect them from disappointment. The Recluse doesn't deny it; he "loaths" the Sage for guiding cookies towards the truth. Inverting that sentiment would imply that the Recluse turns cookies away from the truth to avoid disappointment, and uses deceit out of compassion for them. This is to prevent them from getting hurt, because "he too made the same mistake" of ascending to the truth, finding only despair instead.
The truth being described as a "cruel" "maw" is also such interesting imagery. It reminds me of Shadow Milk's snake that devours the sheep on the loading screen of the Awakened Pure Vanilla update. I'll also point out the fact again that the Sage's listeners were explicitly referred to as a "flock".
And finally, the question the Truthless Recluse asks the Sage of Truth. "Why do you persist?"
Because as far as the Recluse is concerned, he just got done explaining why the truth isn't worth it, so why should the Sage continue to preach it? Why do you persist?
It's a question asked out of a genuine, haunting, need to know why the Sage continues to send cookies into the hungry, crushing maw of Truth. It's asked out of desperate compassion for those cookies.
To that, the Sage only pointed upwards and said, "Alas, the Truth is imperfect by design… and yet, one must not turn away from the light of one's own Truth."
And with a welcoming gesture, he added,
"Not unlike yourself whose Truth is to protect others from anguish."
The Recluse never answered. The Sage knew the answer anyway.
Here, the Sage points upwards; a previous indication that he's being deceptive. The statement he gives, "One must not turn away from the light of one's own Truth", seems to imply that he wants anyone listening to him to think that he thinks the truth is a good for cookies, of course, why wouldn't it be? However, throughout the entire story, the truth is regarded by the Sage as something negative, something that's been used to hurt, used to treat him like an object. So to truly answer the Recluse's question, what he's really implying here is that he guides cookies towards the truth because he's hurting, and he wants them to hurt too.
Next, he welcomes; a previous indication that he's being truthful. A welcoming gesture; spreading his arms wide, inviting the Recluse in. He truthfully wants the Recluse to call him out on this lie. He truthfully wants the Recluse to continue to speak with him. He sees an equal, a companion in the Recluse. Someone who understands.
This is such a blatant parallel to Compassionate Pure Vanilla offering friendship to Shadow Milk in episode 8, I would just like to point that out.
The Recluse never answers, but the Sage knows the answer anyway. Whether or not that "answer" is an agreement of companionship or a rejection of it is unclear, and is probably meant to be left ambiguous.
A long night passed and a new day dawned.
Yesterday's guest was long gone, and the square was as peaceful as it could be…
But the Sage could hear them. The footsteps of many seekers, stepping forth towards the Truth.
"The square was peaceful... But... the Sage could hear them."
This ending is very painful. The cycle of hurt continues. It would imply the Recluse rejected the Sage's offer of companionship, which is probably more likely here. However, the nature of the ambiguity means the Recluse could have accepted, and the seekers of truth may be what links the Sage and the Recluse now that they are apart. It's less likely.
Either way, they are the same in every universe. Even this one.
As I put it in a previous post, the difference between Pure Vanilla and Shadow Milk, no matter which path either of them are on, is their compassion.
The Truthless Recluse pushes cookies away from the cruel truth, while the Sage of Truth encourages them to seek out what he knows will hurt them.
Because even on diverged paths, Pure Vanilla will always care, and Shadow Milk can't ever find a reason to.
Your analysis really surprised me; I hadn't seen it that way. Although it's not like I'd dedicated myself to researching and analyzing the entire description. While it might seem to represent a role-reversal universe, according to this analysis, the only thing it has of role reversal is the clothing and its virtue, but it's not as if it seems or seeks to be an exact reflection of the canonical universe.
