The vampire lestat opinion piece incoming:
Hating that people are giving credit to the writers for sloppy writing and planning. I know continuity errors have already been discussed within the show, for example lestat mind reading to Louis or the length of lestats hair. But also it’s hard to tell because we have Louis as an unreliable narrator throughout. But I feel like there is so many ways people can explain away sloppy parts iwtv/tvl. Like people have been saying the complete vibe shift is just the reality of lestats narrative, whilst this can be partially true it just also seems to operate as a coping mechanism through which to explain bad narratives and writing. Same thing happened with stranger things and the whole conformity gate, people though the duffer brothers were writing gods and not the sloppy ai writers that they are. Whilst I do think iwtv/tvl exists in a different realm to stranger things as works of media, the reception of this seems the same. Don’t really know if this makes sense or what it means but I think the show has become more focused on gaining viewership and money rather than telling a story that means something.
Also by now we’ve all seen about amc’s marking for tvl, and think this fits in too, they just don’t care about the characters or the story they were trying to tell.
Basically what I’m trying to say is this season is a mess, and it’s so hard cuz all these things seem like coincidences and easily could be a rightfully intended effect, but considering the nature surrounding tvl marketing/writing i just don’t think it can be.
