i think what’s missing in a lot of conversations about palestine is israel’s constant and intentional provocation through systematic degradation of quality of life, freedoms and dignity and the resulting forced sense of humiliation imposed on palestinians. these issues are prevalent in the daily life of palestinians, and yet they go over people’s heads so swiftly when they discuss why things are the way they are in palestine and why palestinians are reacting the way the are.
no one likes to talk about feelings and emotions because the discussion either presents a preferred narrative of palestinians as these ~mythical-like, unbreakable creatures~ that are put on a pedestal or they are seen as mere props with no real lived realities or human emotion that are used to advance people’s agendas. for instance, there’s hardly any discussion on the rising suicide rates in gaza that are directly linked to the brutal israeli siege, because almost no one talks about the psychological impact decades of violence leaves on palestinians of all ages.
i assume to many people, it’s hard to grasp how living under occupation can affect the way one’s emotions are processed and that is, imo, precisely why many outsiders (non palestinians especially but even palestinians in the diaspora!) find decisions made by palestinians in palestine to not make sense, if they are not seen as “incomprehensible” altogether, which stems directly from their absolute disregard to how palestinians are (systematically) made to feel on a day to day basis.
everyone talks at length about the physical impact; number of dead, number of prisoners, apartheid wall, checkpoints, etc… which is essential, but only when the emotional impact these systematic methods of oppressions is as widely discussed, only then will these idiots be able to comprehend why palestinian worshippers have refused to go into al aqsa mosque and instead have been praying outside of its gates as part of a big protest and a sit-in for the 4th day so far, and why they wouldn’t “just go in!!” after israel had decided to put up electronic metal detectors by the compound’s gates, ordering palestinians to go through them in order to exercise their basic human rights to enter the mosque to pray.

The Muslim community is mourning the passing of Nabra, a 17 year old young woman from Sterling, VA. Nabra was beaten to death with a baseball bat and left in a pond after going missing while walking to a mosque with her friends. Hate crime against Muslim Americans is at its highest point with more than 67% increase since 2016. Nabra is another example of the escalating violence towards Muslims Americans. Activists gathered at Union Square to hold a vigil for Nabra and her family and to stand against violence against Muslim Americans.
I am not sure whether it’s true or not but I prefer to keep people safe. Reblog to save a life!

Jabir (رضي الله عنه) said, “I once saw Rasulullahﷺ on the night of a full moon. On that night he wore red clothing. At times I looked at the full moon and at times at Rasulullahﷺ. Ultimately I came to the conclusion that Rasulullahﷺ was more handsome, beautiful and more radiant than the full moon.”
- Shama'il Muhammadiyah, (Vol 1, Hadith 1)
This is a great story of acceptance. Think society needs to hear more of these types of stories.
