Gloryhammer really is one of the greatest bands of all time. Like. What other band would make a song titled Goblin King Of The Darkstorm Galaxy, which is about a goblin king and evil wizard teaming up to open an evil portal and bring ruin to the lords of the moon? What other band would remaster one of their songs and give it the title of "Transcendant Empyrean Incantation Version", only made more ridiculous by the fact the song is titled The Unicorn Invasion Of Dundee? You find a song titled He Has Returned. OK, surely this one is more normal. No, it's about The Robot Prince Of Auchtertool, who apparently has a crown made of lasers and epic robot wings. One of their songs opens with the lyrics "I wanna fly away on a unicorn to a land of freedom and light, but I know that my destiny is to die in the ultimate fight", with the climax of that song being "I know I'll find my destiny in outer space in 1993". AND they're Scottish. Actually the best.

Wonder what the rest of the world are doing in the Gloryhammer universe, since all the shit seems to go down exclusively in Scotland. Evil wizard? Scotland. Unicorn invasions? Scotland. Portals to hell? Scotland. Doesn’t really get better in another dimension, too. Another Evil Wizard Invasion? Scotland. Deathknights slaughtering peasants? Scotland. Nuclear fallout for the next few dozens of years? Scotland again.

Can’t help but to imagine everybody else be, like: “Yo, guys, shouldn’t we help them?” “Nah man, that Angus dude got this.” “But…” “Look, do you want that evil wizard to wreck havoc here instead? Thought so.”

In conclusion: if you are ever transported to the GH universe, pick anywhere BUT Scotland as your place of living. Go live under a rock, if you must.

i know for a fact im not the first person to think this, but i feel like an animated movie (in the alex henderson music video style), with a plot based on the album (not a direct adaption, but kinda like a "best hits" of plot points) would be really fun and great and silly

Imagine finding out you have 90 minutes to tie up a love story that's developed over thousands of years. You create something beautifully in character and completely on point for the plot. You pay homage to the original writer's legacy in a fitting and poetic way and create an ending that not only shows the depth of two people's love for each other but the wider love they have for the thing that brought them together in the first place.

And then you go online to find the loudest outcry is that everyone hates it and "THEY DIDN'T EVEN KISS!"

I feel sorry for people who didn't get anything out of that stunning finale.

Ryan Gosling is way too conventionally handsome to play Rincewind but looking at his styling in Project Hail Mary I can almost see the vision.

The whole 'local cowardly academic forced into saving the world quite against his will' thing also helps.

(Also to be fair to Dr Grace he does pick up that metaphorical halfbick-inna-sock by the end.)

it's so wild to me that you absolutely cannot force a hyperfixation to happen. like you'll watch the most perfectly tailor-made-for-you content that everyone says you'll love and feel absolutely nothing, and then the thing you watch on a whim to fill time will reach through the screen and put its damn fingers in your brain and start rearranging the neurons right in front of you and every single time you're like THIS??? THIS??????? and this happens like every 6-12 months forever
