Hey so like. I'm new to Tumblr, so forgive me if this sounds like a very dumb sounding thing to say, but like. I'm very, very glad you all seem to be very attracted to trans women. At least, that's the vibe I've seen. Which is great! But like. And forgive me if I sound out of line here, I've noticed that a vast, vast majority of posts I've seen on the topic have been. Rather explicit.

To be clear, I'm not saying you should stop. Just because it's not for me doesn't mean I don't think anyone should enjoy it. My objection is purely rooted in the fact that I'm asexual and that a lot of these posts just kinda mean. Absolutely nothing to me.

What I'm asking here is, clearly I'm making a mistake somewhere. So how do I find more transfem content about stuff that isn't about how hot it would be to be intimate with a trans woman?

Hang on wait. I decided to do an experiment, and like. Almost all the posts I found in the trans men tags were, like, actual discussions about trans issues, the kind of thing I was looking for in the trans women tags. But almost all the posts I found in the trans women tags were about how hot and attractive and sexy trans women are and that's it. Huh. That uh. Hm. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I don't think I like it.

I love my grandmother. But I disagree with her on a very key point.

See, I love talking about stories with my grandmother. She's a retired English teacher, and always has delightful insights into what I'm talking about and is more than happy to listen to me yap about video games. But the thing is, I've learned there are...certain topics I just can't talk about when telling her about video game stories. Suicide, abuse, trauma...really, anyone dying. Ever. And her response is always the same.

"It's just too dark."

There are a couple instances where I have to agree with her. A lot of my least favorite horror games, for example, tend to have countless faceless people die in the backstory as a substitute for actually getting you to care about someone and seeing them die, for example. There are also a couple games that have a lot of violence in them that doesn't seem to necessarily have a point. But even then...I just can't agree with her.

The idea that darkness automatically disqualifies a story from having any artistic merit frustrates me a lot. Because these are things that happen. We don't want them to, but they do. And our stories are bound to reflect that. It's a good thing we have stories about suicide, about abuse, about trauma, about death, so that when we see these things happen, we're at least that little bit more emotionally equipped to deal with it. And the oddest thing is that she agrees with me on that front. Remember, retired English teacher. She just doesn't want to see it actually happen in a story. How do you rationalize that? How can you tell a story about death where everyone lives and no one has ever even been close to peril? How do you tell a story about trauma in a story where everyone's lives has always been sunshine and rainbows and roses? How do you tell a story about grief where there's nothing to grieve?

I bring this up not to complain about my grandmother. She's a wonderful woman. I bring this up because this is a take I see...concerningly often. A lot of people seem to want deep, complex stories, yet treat darkness as antithetical to good storytelling. A character must be a perfect angel, or they're poorly written. Terrible things happening to the characters you like is automatically contrived. Any moral complexity more difficult than "The good guys beat up the bad guys and gave them a stern talking to while telling the audience directly what the moral was" muddles the themes.

I dunno, I just get a bit annoyed by people seemingly ignoring what makes stories interesting in my opinion.

Maybe it's my paranoid tendencies, autism, and anxiety talking, but like. Think about it. Toby Fox hasn't actually said when Chapters 6 & 7 will be released. They could be released tomorrow. We don't know. We don't know anything. He could be planning anything. He could be planning anything and we wouldn't know. We don't know anything. Oh god we know nothing. The vast expanse between the known and the unknown is far too great for us to ever overcome.

I once wrote multiple paragraphs on how it's fully possible to guess the massive end-of-game plot twist by the middle of the third case through the leitmotifs, it's incredible.

So I have a Persona 5 AU where The Phantom Thieves become Palace Rulers.

Long story short, due to a bunch of Third Semester crap I don't feel like explaining just yet, The Phantom Thieves become the worst possible versions of themselves, losing their Personas and forming Palaces. As a result, a group called The New Phantom Thieves (Made up of Mishima, Hifumi, Shiho, Oda, and probably some other members though I don't know who) have to steal their Treasures and save them from themselves. Fun! The AU is called When Thieves Fall Out, and it's still a WIP, but it shows a lot of promise!

I'll share more details later, but I realized this was the kind of thing someone here might find interesting, so I decided to bring it up!
