literally the night after the AU prompt for safeshiptember, my brain said, "oh wait, you WANT a ren au?? well what if he was just some fucking guy?????" and now i'm eating that shit up... because even if he's just a dude, not a doctor with access to a lot of dangerous materials, his life leading up to this point was very different and simply made him Fucked Up But In A Different Way. 💕

similar meet-cute as doc!ren, just. y'know. at the store, in a rural area instead of the city. and because there isn't any professional relationship to keep up, he and s/i are both immediately like, "shit, nobody out here in bumfuck nowhere has similar interests, ermmm wanna keep in contact maybe?" so shit gets rolling much sooner and faster.

Safeship September Day 19: "Any of Your AUs"!

breaking the pattern of going hog-wild for ren, since i don't have any AUs for him and i'm not normally an AU kind of person... buuuut, technically speaking, mars began life as an oushirou AU based on a dream i had about a zombie apocalypse... uhhhh... over a decade ago?? i think??

they were the first oc i used to work through my feelings on chronic illness as i began treatment several years ago, and even though ren has recently supplanted them in that regard, mars served as a blueprint that helped me more thoroughly flesh ren out as a character. they're still so so special to me regardless, i love f/o-ing them! (also aha red hair and glowing gold eyes aha 👉🏻👈🏻😳)

...tbh his expression is the only thing that's kept me going with this, bc i actually finished it days ago but did some irreversible damage to the original file when i thought i was working on a dupe, so i had to rebuild the entire thing... and then i just had to rebuild it AGAIN when i realized i could make some changes that would reduce procreate's infuriating banding issues... BUT!!!!!!!!! it's Done now and i can simply enjoy seeing his face every time i open my lock screen 💕

it's physically impossible for me to sleep during the day thanks to a mix of health issues and medication side effects, but on rainy days we'd lay on the couch, cuddle under a blanket, and he'd nod off while i browsed on my phone and got Comfy.

ren's a lightweight, and when drunk he gets mushy and affectionate and gross. give him one (1) glass of wine and and it's time for Visible Pining. give him one (1) glass of wine and some music? it's time for visible pining AND an excuse to get close.
