âThey fear me. Most from respect of position, and some genuinely.â
She says without missing a beat, shrugging again, but her eye darts out of the way of the Sphinxâs eye contact. A clear indicator that what she said wasnât true, at least not the entire truth. She winces when she knows the woman in front of her would be wise enough to catch that.
âOf course there are exceptions,â
But thinking about any of those people who would fall into another category reminds Undyne that she is talking to a complete stranger. Though wise, and obvious she didnât intend harm up front, Undyne closes up.
âYouâre right, few would say anything so outright. So what gives you the guts to do it, huh? Had I been anyone else in a suit of armor, theyâd feel threatened enough to attack you. But here you are, talking with me as if Iâm your best friend and weâre at a coffee shop.â
How is she so damn calm? Undyne would be lying to say she didnât envy that.
She is weak, thats why she needs such a heavy armor to protect herself. The Sphinx can tell this without thinking about it too much, its pretty obvious, because when you really feel in control of the situation you are in, you will barely need weapons or shields.
When you are really strong, your strength comes from somewhere else.
However, there is no appeal in asking about the truth directly, even when was obvious the fish woman was leeping secrets from her, but why shouldnt her. The problem was she is very transparent, she is useless to hide anything.
Ze girl talks like ze woman should be afraid of her. Does a real reason actually exist for zat kind of behavior?
