Zeynep was born into a world of privilege. The daughter of a Turkish executive in and a housewife. Their family home was perched by the sea, filled with music, her mother's cooking, and the sounds of Zeynep and her brother's laughter.
They moved to the US when she was eight as her father's company was expanding operations overseas. Aurora Bay was supposed to be temporary, but her family began to place roots. Her life became a blend of cultures from Turkish ballads to dancing like Britney Spears with her friends. Her parents always praised and encouraged their daughter's love for performance.
In middle school, Zeynep met two girls who changed everything. Each of them had big dreams, each with a love for music and performance. By the start of high school, they formed a girl group, calling themselves AURORA. They performed at every opportunity they could, from open-mic nights and community events.
During their senior year of high school, one of their performances went viral, catching the eye of a record executive in Hollywood who would forever change their lives. At eighteen, they signed a record contract and became The Sirens.
Their debut single exploded worldwide, and within two years, they were appearing in magazines, invited to every talk show, headlining arenas globally, and winning countless awards. Their chemistry was undeniable, sound hypnotic and soulful, their style effortlessly cool, and personas everyone loved.
Zeynep was known as "the voice" of the group, especially for her textured sound, ridiculous riffs, and for grounding the harmony. It was beautifully chaotic, and over time, fame showed its true colors and cost. The schedules were packed and relentless, the friendships began to blur under social and management pressures, and the joy of their foundation as a group was cracking.
Two years ago, the group announced an indefinite hiatus following the tour of their senior album. Feeling a need for a reset, Zeynep went off-grid for a year and a half. No social media, no public sightings. She lived quietly in Bali and Portugal. She read, took language and cooking classes, worked on farms, painted, surfed horrifically, and fell in love with solitude.
She returned to her hometown a few months ago. Her father called her in to help manage the company's branding division, given her connections and public persona. She still feels the call of the stage in the distance, but for now, she's happy to be home and settling into this new version of herself.
