~Constantly regressing to toddler space or younger- back before the training started. Back before they were forced to grow up. Regression holds no benefit if it’s only back to the age when all the problems started
~Genuinely doesn’t know how to let go and regress. They were born and bred to be useful. Regression is the opposite of useful.
~Character who has no childhood past wielding a sword/shield/gun/magic/ inset any other type of weapon and training here. When asked about favorite childhood memory they suppose they could mention the time they were injured enough they got to spend days in bed and cooked a home meal for once. Or the time their instructor actually smiled at them for getting a move right or the time- why are you looking at them like that?
~Character raised as a child solider starting to regress when they are “far too young” Still in the process of being trained and wanting to go back to when everything was safe and simpler. (this will of course depend on the character but think between the biological ages of 9-14, regressing into baby or toddler space. Their bio age is one that someone older might be regressing to not currently living through and wishing to be even younger)
~Little one who sits on the floor besides where their caregiver sits, constantly lower than them weather subconsciously or by choice, leaning against their leg and playing with toys or coloring + caregiver who slowly threads their hand through their little one’s hair not wanting to bring too much attention to them in fear they will stop
~Living weapon turned perma regressor as they learn how to be human again
~Living weapon regressor who when told about regression says they rather pet regress than be human. Who rather be the cute puppy who can be taught tricks in exchange for treats instead of having to follow orders for the bare minimum of survival. Who gets unending affection without feeling like a betrayal. Who can take up space just existing and flop over their caregiver’s lap like they are some innocent lap dog and not someone with blood stained hands. Who can be sent on little errands while their ‘owner’ knows full well they are just a puppy and therefore can’t do everything a human child could
~Villain caregiver who takes one look at said child soldier and refuses to fight. Actually they are rather confused and concerned. Sir that’s a whole arse child, not a threat
~Villain who thinks they are receiving a hostage, the hero’s best fighter at their mercy- gains a traumatized child instead
~ “Listen to me. You’re still a kid. You always were and you still are. I’m sorry you never had the chance to see that.”
~Character who never learned how to pace themselves, always told to keep pushing forward and to keep moving, and ends up regressing out of pure exhaustion. Every. Single. Time. (Bonus points if they are trying to stop, trying to listen to their body, trying to take breaks and then simply can’t regress unless under stress/ at a breaking point)
~Hiding injuries/discomforts without realizing. Being so used to things being brushed off that it’s second nature, and they are genuinely surprised when someone notices discomfort or cares.
~Baby space regressor who can be the fussiest little thing ever and still will not cry. Not for their caregiver, not after a nightmare, not after a favorite toy breaks. Struggling to process and express emotions when reactions before have always been cold and clinical (bonus points for also struggling with positive emotions too, joy, excitement, etc)
~Character A who is unreasonably attached to character B. Who follows them around, and swears to serve and protect them because they saved them/gave them purpose/ would do anything for them. Who only eats when instructed and has a nasty habit of biting their nails when stressed. Who will go mute when they think they’re in trouble or overwhelmed, etc. Who have never heard about nor regressed in their life. With Character B who clocks the behavior as regression tendencies and goes ‘awww my little one has imprinted on me’ miscommunication ensues
