I like bringing them together.🙂↔️
The Logic of Doma's "Eternal Salvation" Is Based on Buddhist Culture, Though in a Twisted Way 🧵
The idea that eating the flesh, blood, and bones of a believer will make them "live happily ever after with him"
He does not understand what happiness is in the human sense, but identifies it with dissolution, union, and escape from the world of suffering.
Their being "no longer subject to external forces causing suffering" and "being eternally safe" is how Doma interprets his "salvation": making them a part of himself to escape all the suffering of the outside world.
The act of Doma giving death is associated with Nirvana/涅槃 in Buddhist culture - liberation from the cycle of rebirth, suffering, the end of all desires and afflictions.
In Doma's worldview, his granting of death to his followers means freeing them from all pain, fear, suffering and bringing "absolute silence" to their souls.
Buddhist culture - liberation from the cycle of rebirth, suffering, the end of all desires and afflictions.
Doma believes that humans are pitiful and unfortunate but always subject to suffering and pain. By eating them, he erases their physical existence, ensuring that they will no longer be tormented by any outside forces.
He thought that their becoming a part of him would allow them to live happily ever after with him in a state of 万世極楽 .
This view is completely consistent with the teachings of his 教団 in Fanbook 1
The only way to ensure this "peace of mind" is through physical disappearance. Becoming a part of him means they achieve a state of immortality in 極楽, where there is no more hardship or pain.
That means for him, having a peaceful mind forever will having absolute happiness.
In Buddhist culture, 極楽 is where one will live happily ever after with Amitabha Buddha after being saved. This is a popular concept in Pure Land Buddhism.
Doma is a Buddha, albeit in a distorted way.
His cannibalism and consumption of his followers is his way of integrating them into his immortal being, ensuring that they live forever happy (according to his definition of happiness) and eternally safe in his own 極楽.
gradual consumption of their flesh, bones, and blood by Doma can also be seen as a gradual process of reaching the Pure Land:
This is like a ritual of complete purification and consumption. It ensures that no trace of earthly suffering remains, and their souls are merged with the savior (Doma) to achieve final liberation.
The fandom's misconception of Michikatsu's ex wife and how he treated them makes me want to rip my hair off tbh the manga ended almost 5 years ago why are we still going circles oTL I hope when his backstory gets animated they'll extend the glimpse of his peaceful years before meeting yoriichi again 💔
It's honestly just sad. Both in fiction and reality with how people are treating his family. Kokushibo's marriage was definitely not the best thing; an arranged marriage that he and his ex-wife had little choice in, but I dislike how the fandom would often exaggerate things and see the whole thing in black and white. His family (especially his ex-wife) have become one of the most controversial topic in this fandom istg
For me, people demonifying his ex-wife is just disrespectful to his narrative because he had never once badmouthed her or found her lacking in any way, the same with their children. It's crazy to me that Kokushibo held more empathy for them than those people. They are literally tragic characters meant to be sympathized and appreciated? What are people on about 😭
He didn't found them "boring", that time he was only describing the days (peaceful, if somewhat boring) he had for ten years in Yoriichi's absence before meeting him again and led him to discover another world outside of his current life—not his personal thoughts about his ex-wife or children. He didn't left because "he hated them"; Michikatsu had always wanted to devote himself to the sword and felt unfufilled/highly likely tied down by the married life he never desired or personally choose. It was not something against them but a choice he made in finally seeking his own path.
I don't think he was "miserable" with them, but it's important to note that he had only been fulfilling another expectation/duty enforced to him ever since he was born as the heir. I feel he was going through a lot from the responsibilites thrusted to him as a samurai, the patriarch, a husband, and the father of two—all when he was barely an adult, while living in the most considered violent period of Japan :'(
Clearly, he held no deep feelings for his family... but I believe he had cared and looked after each of them as much as he was capable of, because that's just how he is as a person.
From all the very few context we were given... his life with them hadn't been completely loveless and they seemed to be a content family—furthermore, their reaction to Michikatsu walking away tells us enough that he had been a good figure in their lives. People need to give him more credit for being way better than his father ever was: Michikatsu was shown being affectionate with his children and respectful towards his ex-wife, that the infamous claims of him having been cold, abusive, toxic, or had looked down on them are just untrue if not an offending exaggeration.
It's not like he left happily. He's not a toddler and was fully aware of the weight of his actions; he literally did a social suicide and abandoned his vulnerable family on their own. I don't blame Michikatsu for wanting to fully pursue what he has always been so passionate of and to have a free life, but it's important to acknowledge what he did was definitely not justified on his family's behalf who were innocent and clearly affected, but he also... does not deserve to be hated on for it. This is a complicated situation where both sides deserve to be touched upon with empathy, because we as the viewers are capable of seeing the bigger picture in order to appreciate the story.
And what I don't like the most is the unjust hate towards his ex-wife. I noticed a lot of people have a biased outlook on her simply because they hate the ship of her with Michikatsu. Yk what? My actual first time learning the debates surrounding Kokushibo's family is when I start seeing people degrading her and calling her things—saying she's "nothing", and so? Hating her for exactly "nothing" and getting mad when she gets fanarts, lol. Her haters makes no sense and they aren't hearing anyone. I don't understand why they really need to make it as if Michikatsu was repulsed by her and that she was deserving of scorn from him.
The Tsugikuni lineage literally survived because she managed to raise her kids on her own during the Sengoku era, and the Tokitos existing is the testament of her effort. At least try to acknowledge her for that? She wasn't just "holding a baby"?
Also, as much as I'd love to see more about Michikatsu's family, even just a little bit.. I don't think it would be possible </3 they had been people in his life, but held little influence. For me, him having strong feelings for them, either that of absolute love or blatant hate, would undermine his narrative—because Kokushibo's character story definitely does not focus on the aspect of having a family. I suppose the main reason he remembered Yoriichi the most was because his brother had been the strongest connection throughout his life and played a part in bringing him to where he become now, as Kokushibo.
And I really need more people to know this... his ex-wife and children being faceless and forgotten was never their fault in the first place? They were "irrelevant" because they had only been roles/characters in Kokushibo's narrative and he said he can't remember them which implies an inability? And prior to that manga panel, he stated that he wanted to forget Yoriichi the most, and was unwilling of still having such vivid memories of his face?
This is just sad and not something of his family to be scorned about nor anyone to blame. No, this also never mean his family were worthless to him or to the plot.
They were his other human connections, the Tokitos wouldn't exist without them, we wouldn't have another instance of Michikatsu being a truly kind and gentle person, and they were one of his source of regrets that had fleshed out his humanity and tragic character. It felt like an insult to Gotouge's writing for people to say otherwise because the author added them into the story for a reason. They were NOT "filler ocs".
Not sure where to start but however many people do not realize that Michikatsu has a eager to win, self-expressive and peak-obsessed personality because he was raised and imposed that way, they are ingrained in his core
Also, note that there is no statement or inner self of Michikatsu complaining or resisting responsibility and there is no one or anything stopping him from pursuing his path to the pinnacle of swordsmanship
I can say it more clearly
As for Michikatsu feeling bored with the long peaceful life, it is not the focus of the issue of duty but his own personality and internal conflict, of course as I said a person Michikatsu's competitive nature, thirst for greatness, domination and turmoil are the factors that make him unsatisfied with the long peaceful life that his old family brought him
Because it did not bring challenges, dangers and turmoil for him to express himself
People like Michikatsu/Kokushibo, who have a strong and obsessive desire for excellence, often see peace as a stagnation, a waste of talent. He wants his stage to be the battlefield, where his greatness is most clearly and dangerously demonstrated.
According to Fanbook 1 This quote further reinforces that Michikatsu's obsession is not just personal jealousy but also a result of his harsh living environment and his own thirst for power
Basically, Michikatsu's personality comes from his own era
Quote: "当時は卡克王など、誰でも上を狙って天下をとれるというような時代だったので、自分もいつ殺されるかわからない状態でした。周りの動向には常に目を光らせています."
Harsh Setting: The Sengoku Jidai period was a time when "anyone could aim for the top and take over the world." This created a fiercely competitive, constantly changing, and dangerous environment.
Fear of being killed: Michikatsu is "always in a state of not knowing when he will be killed" and "always has to closely monitor the movements of those around him".
The fear of being threatened, surpassed, and killed is deeply ingrained in Michikatsu's subconscious. This explains why he is so obsessed with absolute power and dominance that he is willing to throw everything away. He believes that only by standing at the top can he ensure survival and safety.
Quote: "戦国時代の武家の長男に生まれているため、上下関係などには厳しいです."
Status and Discipline: Born as the eldest son of a samurai family during the Warring States period, Michikatsu was raised in an environment that emphasized discipline and strict hierarchy.
Hierarchy: This gives Michikatsu a keen sense of hierarchy (上下関係 - jouge kankei). He is both a disciplinarian and aspires to be at the top.
Conclusion: Michikatsu's obsession with surpassing Yoriichi is not just jealousy, but also a fear of his younger brother disrupting the hierarchy and depriving him of the secure position he believes he must have to survive in that era.
So it is understandable that Michikatsu's jealousy and hatred towards Yoriichi and why he was not satisfied or understood the value of lasting peace or humanity
I agree that the Warring States period of Japan was the most violent and war-filled period of Japan but nevertheless I must point out that peace was a precious and extremely expensive thing in that era
I have talked to Japanese people about this
Basically, Michikatsu got that good thing - a long peaceful life
not only that but also power, status, a good wife and a full family
These are not things that anyone in that era could have, there are many people and Samurai out there who endured extremely harsh but they could not have the things that Michikatsu had even if they wished for it
However, that long peaceful life could still let him continue his swordsmanship as the head of the Samurai clan, There was nothing stopping him
But he still didn't choose it, that was because it wasn't a condition for him to show himself
I don't think criticizing or hating Michikatsu for abandoning his ex-family for his own personal gain is something unnecessary or unworthy, nor is there anything wrong with the audience hating him for it
He made a selfish choice and it certainly caused heavy damage to his ex-wife and his young children
How do they struggle in such a brutal and war-torn society?? where there is not even a system to protect women and children?? Even the Michikatsu family's fortune can still become a dangerous target for looters
but honestly speaking, I don't feel that there's anything sympathetic about his choices and decisions.
I don't mean to put down or hate Michikatsu/Kokushibo
Remember he not only threw them away but also threw away his humanity, his Samurai honor and made himself ugly even he himself felt humiliated about it but in the end he was still led by his own personal ambition and obsession with victory
Even if he left, he should have at least come back to visit and provide for them, because he still had a responsibility to them in any form, but no, he still didn't.
Even his original dream of becoming a perfect Samurai had become distorted, leading him to want to surpass Yoriichi to the point of even wanting to replace him.
Besides, there was no place in his heart where he felt dissatisfied or tied down by marriage otherwise he would definitely show it, he is not the type of person who can tolerate any negativity let alone dissatisfaction
His soul was also quite peaceful while he was there until he met Yoriichi again and all the peace was broken - and the peace within him was replaced and as well as jealousy and hatred towards Yoriichi returned
A peaceful mind can never be bound or dissatisfied. I agree that his marriage was not his original choice or desire
But it was still not something that made him dissatisfied, with that era arranged marriage was also a standard, it was even educated since childhood of everyone especially Samurai
Don't forget that when Michikatsu left, he was also dominated by jealousy and hatred for Yoriichi.
His departure was not liberation or freedom, but the turning point of his downfall.
Being responsible doesn't mean he doesn't have freedom or can't fulfill his dreams, given the context of that era, his dedication to swordsmanship would be encouraged and supported by everyone without him having to leave, especially in Samurai society
No one looks down on him either
The problem is that he can't accept anyone stronger than him (except Muzan) or feel that he is enough
Well I think I've been bothering you too much
Sorry about that
However, I do respect you for always speaking up for his ex and protecting their harmonious relationship, I believe they are close friends and not romantic
He still respects her and loves and cherishes his children from before
Nono no need to say sorry, you didn't bother me at all! 💞💞
And yes, I will always defend my girl 😭😭 Michikatsu clearly respected her and loved their children to some extent, but people like to twist that a lot. His family needs a protection squad at this point.
I didn't mean to sound like I was excusing him... it was obviously wrong to abandon his family on their own in such a time where they'd suffer—especially his ex-wife. Michikatsu would have known this too. We don't know if he ever thought of them years afterwards (although as Kokushibo, he briefly mentioned his "family that he left behind" to Muichiro, which is him probably moving on after centuries), showing his priorities.
I am not stopping anyone from criticizing his choices because throughout his life, he did things for his own gain that hurt others and were indeed inexcuseable (like killing and eating humans to get stronger, one of the most primary example). It's important to acknowledge his flaws and the point of the character Gotouge wrote.
When he was dying, he thought back of his life choices and his final form reflected back at him—what he had become—shameful and monstrous; far from what is of a "samurai", and even after all the relentless pursuit of perfection—left him to obtain nothing truly meaningful and no honor like his brother did in the end.
Loves marriages basically did not exist in his time and I put "marriage they had little choice in" because back then if you refuse, you can get punished or shamed. But yes, it was most likely Michikatsu grew up knowing that he would be given a bride to continue the name since it was just the way life had been, and another obligation expected from someone his rank.
I also believe he had the "ideal" life of that time. He became a samurai, obtained his father's possessions/estate, and had a completed family of his own with a secured heir. He had his life ensured. But even if it had been the perceived "ideal" of that time, it's not for everyone... and I don't think it was for Michikatsu, either.
He's not in love with the married life like his brother. He didn't seem to show much interest in his former life. And for all we know, he's a very independent individual.
And I was offering another perspective which is his position during his time with his family: he was young upon settling down, and given roles of heavy responsibilities: he lived in a violent time where he was always risking his life under duty, or how he lived with expectations to fulfill that was not his own throughout his life.
And this is why I said he was "finally seeking his own path" from leaving his duty-bound life, how he traded his humanity for eternity to have the path he "wanted from the bottom of his heart": to be released from his obligations, to have a life of no limitations, and continue to master/improve his techniques.
I specifically sympathize with him on his feelings and constant conflict with himself, not of him abandoning his family or killing. I personally think the whole thing is just sad but that's me
But, again, Michikatsu's former life was indeed proven to not be miserable and his peaceful days shattered after meeting Yoriichi again. He barely gave any deeper details than briefly describing it as "peaceful, somewhat boring", and he and his family were shown to be tranquil with how things were. We can't ignore that, and the only bad thing we know was him abandoning them.
No, my points doesn't and will never justify Kokushibo for leaving his family or the other immoral things he did. His family were the ones who suffered from his abandonment. Even he eventually recognize all that he did and regretted it. He knew he strayed from the right path. This is a part of his character story.
I totally agree on why Kokushibo felt bored of his old peaceful life due to his ambitious nature from the reasons you've given, even from his name given by his father who wanted him to be "super strong and constantly win". His obsession with victory is also notably ingrained in his character.
Upon reuniting with Yoriichi, Michikatsu saw how effortless his brother had become with his strength/skill and wanted all of it to be his, and following that he abandoned his family to become a demon slayer. Yes his primary reason to leave was not an issue of duty but from his newfound ambition. This is a canon fact from his own narrative. And it's stated multiple times: he desired to surpass Yoriichi and strived to become an unequaled samurai.
I would put in some quotes from snaps of the fanbook and manga myself since I'm not good at explaining but anyways I'm just repeating the same thing you already know... I really appreciate your analysis and you raised many good and canon points of what I've missed about him! <3 I currently have no access to the first fanbook for additional/more detailed explanation of his character
Thank you so much for enlightening me on his character! And I'm sorry if I've offended you
Oh yeah... I've seen a lot of crazy things from this fandom The hatred that many people have towards Aohizan is ridiculous, not to mention that I've seen people saying that Michikatsu having a child with her is "disgusting", like?? they not only hate Aohizan but also insult the existence of their 2 children who are too young, I've also been attacked before for 3 days straight just because I liked the idea of Michikatsu and his ex-wife being best friends by being forced on me by things like "Michikatsu is cold, treats her coldly and that's his personality" , their hatred towards the woman was so obvious even misunderstanding Michikatsu's personality lmaoo, Even I personally don't like shipping Michihizan but they didn't have to blow it up to that extent?? just to prove he wasn't romantic towards her?? and then, pair him with other characters like Doma, Nakime and etc?? Then they portray him positively in their own ship, like how can they think someone they always portray as toxic and cold would suddenly be positive in their own ship?? how contradictory and absurd ??
No, if he's really that bad and irresponsible then Michikatsu/Kokushibo doesn't deserve or be shipped with anyone, I'm sure none of them understand his complex personality or depth, especially shipper Kokunaki and v.v. But...well, I don't want to slander any ships or shipper but it's annoying when they try to distort Michikatsu's abandonment of his wife and children as "because he wasn't romantic with her" Or at least they blame arranged marriage for never being what he wanted because they are literally imposing modern standards
Some of them even pretend to feel sorry for her by saying "She deserves better" or "poor woman and no she doesn't deserve to suffer like that" but then they justify Michikatsu's behavior so what exactly are they feeling bad or sorry for her for?? If they really feel bad for her then why are they justifying him?? Then who is the one who made her go to such a bad place that they feel sorry for?? then the fact that they feel bad for her is that they are admitting that Michikatsu is the one who did it but slapping themselves in the face then justifying his behavior
The fact that Kokushibo shippers with other characters no one dares to admit his flaws or at least create a story in their own ship where he redeems, punishes, regrets earlier for all the crimes he committed and tries to change himself to be better but no one does that even romanticize horror for him, do they want to destroy their own ship??
Also, it is possible that he and Aohizan had no choice in the arranged marriage, but it was not necessarily because of the fear of losing honor or being considered humiliated if they refused because the arranged marriages of the Samurai at that time were still considered not only as a normal thing but also as a test to improve their own abilities and swordsmanship I think that Michikatsu at that time accepted the arranged marriage, maybe not because of the fear of losing honor if he refused And not because he considered it as a normal thing But he maybe considered the arranged marriage as an important contribution to Michikatsu's dream - to become a perfect Samurai and reach the pinnacle of swordsmanship
When having a family in hand, the Samurai will usually be in a state of alert and always have to fight to protect the family and clan, serve social obligations and contribute to politics, all of these are the process of training to improve ability and swordsmanship However, when Michikatsu has everything but receives a longer peaceful life, it makes him feel that peace is somewhat boring and feels like time passes extremely slowly It just Cannot satisfy him
Having a wife and children, he becomes the breadwinner and must shoulder the responsibility of protecting his family and clan. Being the head of the family means being on guard and ready to fight to protect what he has. This creates a high pressure environment and constant training opportunities to improve his swordsmanship and leadership abilities.
I agree that a long peaceful life is not ideal for Michikatsu - a person who craves challenge, upheaval, danger, obsession with victory and the pinnacle is understandable
But it still proves that before he was attacked by the demon, he had the most stable and sacred life of that time without any danger or war or violence
Saying that "he always had to risk his life when doing missions" but for Michikatsu he accepted it and even wanted it, this mentioned in the manga when he was young, he was not the type of person to accept weakness
and no, not true to the concept of a peaceful life that he had at that time
One thing, I think you misunderstood his saying "私が心底願い欲していた道は拓かれた
私は全てのしがらみから解放される"
Now, I will explain and expose this
Note that when you want to judge a saying, it is best to rely on the context because it is extremely important
First of all, let's look at exactly when he said this and what he really meant by it
In this part, we see Michikatsu becoming desperate as he has activated his demon slayer seal and is definitely running out of time - going to die and his life will end and there will be no time to continue developing his swordsmanship to at least be like Yoriichi
Just when that despair was about to end, Muzan's appearance and offer was the path of salvation for Michikatsu to escape from it
Remember that Muzan is a master of manipulation and is willing to dig out all the deepest desires of others especially when they are at the edge of despair to seduce and entice them,
Muzan has the ability to read other people's thoughts
And this is him saying what Michikatsu wants from the bottom of his heart
"ならば鬼になれば良いではないか
鬼となれば無限の刻を生きられる
お前は技を極めたい
私は呼吸とやらを使える剣士を鬼にしてみたい
どうだ?
お前は選ぶことができるのだ他の剣士とは違う" - Muzan's words never contained the word "escape from obligation " or any specific meaning.
Muzan's ability to read minds and manipulate minds was proven. He saw Michikatsu's deepest desire and used it to lure him. Michikatsu, under the influence of jealousy, fear of death and ambition, voluntarily chose the path of corruption, not a "escape from obligation "
but at the same time, Muzan saw Michikatsu as an interesting test subject, a talented swordsman who could give new power to demons.
because let's review this sentence of Michikatsu "私が心底願い欲していた道は拓かれた
私は全てのしがらみから解放される" basically means to be able to live indefinitely and continue to practice swordsmanship endlessly, different from ordinary swordsmen.
This is the path to liberation from all human constraints and limited worldviews - The constraints of talent, The constraints of time and the constraints of the body
but it does not mean liberation from all obligations
Another thing from Fanbook and manga
"...痣の代償により余命僅かに。" ( ...due to the price of the Mark, there is very little time left to live.)
This was the direct cause of his transformation from Demon Slayer to Demon. He achieved what he wanted (becoming a Demon Slayer and obtaining the Mark), but faced a terrible price: early death at the before 25 years old
"全てのしがらみからの解放を選び、人間を捨てた。" (He chose to free himself from all bonds (shigarami) and throw away his humanity.)
"しがらみ" (shigarami) here should be understood as the bonds of human life, especially the bonds of time (death). Michikatsu chose to become a demon to free himself from death and the defeat that would come due to the Mark.
Even his line in the manga
"生き永らえた為に鬼となっていた私はその屈辱を何百年も味わい続けた" (For the sake of survival, I became a demon and endured that humiliation for hundreds of years)
Kokushibo admits that becoming a demon brought him humiliation, not freedom or relief.
"そうだ勝ち続けることを選んだのだ 私は このような醜い姿になってまで" (That's right, I chose to win continuously... even if I had to take on this ugly shape)
Obviously, there is no place that implies that he wants to escape from dutyobligation
More precisely, he has never complained or been negative about duty or living responsibly
So where is the desire to Release from obligation?
Even the title emphasizes "弟を超える力を求め無惨と契りを交わす" (Signing a contract with Muzan to seek the power to surpass his younger brother)
This phrase is too obvious. Michikatsu's main motivation for becoming a demon was the desire to surpass Yoriichi, not to "free himself from all obligations".
Even as Kokushibo he shouldered heavier responsibilities and duties as Upper Moon 1, serving Muzan, training relentlessly, carrying out all the missions assigned to him, fighting against the Demon Slayer Corps and being highly vigilant of everything around him and other competing demons and maintaining the hierarchy and searching for the blue spider lily
These are even heavier and harsher than in Samurai society
So how could he want to escape his duties as a human but accept heavier, more brutal and harsh duties and responsibilities as a demon?? Nonsense
No one denies that he is an independent person, but independence does not mean isolation or wanting to escape from obligations or having no obligations. Even as Kokushibo he lives up to Muzan's expectations.
One thing is yes Michikatsu may not be the type of person like Yoriichi and I don't like how many people especially Michihizan shippers always think that he and Aohizan would have the same potential as Yoriichi and Uta if he didn't envy Yoriichi, in fact the problem is not only jealousy and hatred of Yoriichi but also in terms of his personality and lifestyle preferences, Michikatsu is not the type of person who loves or enjoys peace as we discussed
To be honest it is true that he has a good relationship with his wife and children but between him and Aohizan and Yoriichi and Uta there are still huge differences like one side is arranged marriage, Not romantic, although the peace lasted, Michikatsu was still not satisfied , he craved change, challenges and danger, wanting to fight to achieve the pinnacle of swordsmanship
and the other side there is romance , Elective marriage and Yoriichi cherishes a long peaceful life and wishes to have a happy family
Also, I believe that Michikatsu at least still loved his children as he touched his newborn and held his older son's hand even describing them as "blessed/恵まれ" - these were not the typical or action expressions of a Samurai towards his children at that time
Michikatsu also respected his ex-wife as a friend/comrade
And the fact that Michikatsu had such a peaceful soul while there, it proved that he had no romance at all
because romance is never a peaceful soul that lasts
I was going to say more about some other things but now I think I've bothered you enough, sorry if my analysis above bothered you and I'm relieved that you're not like some other Kokushibo/Michikatsu fans who justify his actions
I might be a bit off topic because I'm not a good explainer either, sorry again 😭💔

He still respects her and loves and cherishes his children from before
Trying new things with "Haruhime" (fanon name for Michikatsu's unnamed ex-wife). Not canon.

The topic of Doma meaning often changes 相手 to play the role of 子供の恋愛
This is not adult romance, I will talk more about what 子供の恋愛 is.
Analysis of the theory about it 🧵
First, This term 子供の恋愛
「恋」(koi) does not simply mean “love” but also implies a deep connection, a relationship.
When combined with 「子供」(kodomo), the「子供の恋愛」implies a kind of innocent, pure feeling, not yet or not affected by the complicated desires of adults.
The term 子供の恋愛 is usually positive or neutral in Japanese
Now we will talk about Doma's activities when playing the role of 子供の恋愛
So why does he change "相手" so often?
The answer is because it is a part in 子供の恋愛
子供の恋愛 is not like adult romance
Doma's constant changing of the objects of his "relationships" is a core characteristic of 子供の恋愛, not a womanizing or a lack of seriousness.
He is acting 子供の恋愛 here.
Children's changing objects of interest is a natural part of their exploration of the emotional world
Children, when they first come into contact with the emotional world, often experience a range of strong but also very volatile emotions. The initial attraction can be intense, but it can also quickly give way to a new interest, a different sense of curiosity.
This does not come from bad intentions or deliberate carelessness, but is the nature of emotional development at this age, a natural and inevitable process of development.
In love like a child, there is often a want for Perfection and Easy "Breaking Up", Uncertainty,Insecurity and Deadlock
Children tend to look for an ideal, someone who is perfect . They believe in an ideal, someone who is good in everything and has no flaws.
When flaws are discovered or when something new appears, they can easily let go of the current relationship.
Breaking up or changing for children is often not as personal or deeply hurtful as it is for adults, but rather a way to continue exploring and finding what is more suitable for them.
This is a natural adaptive mechanism for them to learn and grow, a process of trial and error to learn about the nature of bonding.
and there is also the childish ego that can occur in "子供の恋愛"
However, it is precisely that immaturity and naivety that makes 子供の恋愛 's unique character and beauty.
It allows love to be expressed in a pure, innocent, sincere and joyful way, unencumbered by adult calculations, doubts or complications.
It is a love that is not self-serving, not demanding, but simply a vibration, a pleasure and a desire to be with the person you love.
The combination of these two aspects creates an interesting balance.
Weaknesses:
Lack of experience - Leads to easy change of partners, idealization of the other person and difficulty in resolving conflicts.
Emotionally immature - Vulnerable, easily sulky and can have impulsive actions.
Developing ego - Can cause difficulty in understanding and sharing with the other person.
The good side:
Innocent and natural - Love is not mixed with other motives, but simply true feelings.
Sincere - Dare to express feelings directly and without hesitation.
Playful - Love brings joy, excitement and memorable memories.
Also, we know that Doma's role as 子供の恋愛 is to be able to feel human emotions/forming humanity
As for why Doma wants to form a personality that is rich in emotions in this way?
This is easy to explain: 子供の恋愛 is a stage of emotional richness and emotional development.
For a child's love is the healthiest and most easily connected and integrated, it is also true because a child's love is essentially an innate need and attachment mechanism, helping to form the first bond with the world, to seek safety, love and a sense of acceptance.
Each "相手" that Doma interacts with is a unique "prototype", providing different perspectives and reactions. He carefully observes how they react to the initial attraction, how they express their feelings, how they deal with "breakups" or changes in their partner.
These interactions are a valuable source of data, helping him build a comprehensive picture of human psychology and emotions, including aspects that Doma had never known.
Repeating the experiment with different subjects was necessary so that he could test his hypotheses, eliminate random factors, and draw more reliable conclusions about the nature of love and human emotions.
In short, Doma - a person who seeks emotional truth through the subtle "子供の恋愛" Lens, refutes negative lenses and wants to heal himself, raise awareness of the value of purity and develop human emotions.
Another thing is that Vietnamese fandom is special when translating this "相手" into "bạn tình (sex partner)" while it is never translated like that in Japanese.
and certainly "相手" NEVER HAS ANY SEX OR DARK ELEMENTS
Okay, that's it for this post
sorry if it's sketchy and rambling <3

Analysis of Kokushibo why he forgot the faces of his father, mother, wife and children
This is a theory that will be based on Buddhist cultural elements as well as a symbol of self-destruction by jealousy, hatred, obsession with inferiority and sibling rivalry that this character represents 🧵
The problem is that many people argue about why Kokushibo forgot his ex-wife's face and justify it by saying "Just because she's boring or unimpressive", no it's not the author's interpretation of this character
Try asking why he forgot his mother's face and his children's face, the people who are considered Kokushibo still have a positive impression of them??
I want to share more about the reason why Kokushibo forgot the faces of everyone in his family except Yoriichi, which I recently delved into. It was the consequence of Michikatsu being abandoned. The fact that Aohizan (his ex-wife), his children, his mother, and his father had their faces forgotten in his memory was not a coincidence, but a direct reflection of Michikatsu's own actions and choices.
Emphasizes anonymity and representative role: Mother (Akeno): Represents the good qualities, care, kindness that Michikatsu inherited and received from her
Father: Represents strength and victory with the Samurai spirit, but not to the extreme. These are the Samurai principles and qualities that Michikatsu was taught (however his father did not clarify what the true value of victory and strength of the Samurai is)
Aohizan and children: Symbolize the lasting peace and stability family he has.
(No!! I don't mean Michikatsu is romantic with his ex-wife but he certainly doesn't despise or hate her)
And one more thing is that Michikatsu abandoned his ex-wife and children NOT because this marriage had problems or it was a place that made him miserable or suffocated, but the reason he abandoned his old family was because he was jealous, hated Yoriichi and wanted to have the same power as Yoriichi, Fanbook 2 and Michikatsu's inner monologue in the manga admitted this.
All of these people brought positive values to Michikatsu's life and he had no negative feelings towards them, either emotionally or physically, before his collapse.
Abandonment is the cause of fading: Michikatsu threw everything away with his own hands - wife and children, humanity, Samurai honor - and that is why they became faded, faceless, nameless in his memory. He actively erased those values and people from his life, and as a result, the memory of them gradually faded, becoming only abstract concepts of loss.
Or to be more precise, Michikatsu also betrayed the values that his parents, wife and children had given him.
Yoriichi in Kokushibo's memories: Symbol of mixed emotions and obsession: The fact that Yoriichi is the only person Michikatsu/Kokushibo always remembers the face of is not because he is the only person who matters in the pure sense. Yoriichi is a symbol of many mixed emotions: admiration, jealousy, obsession, desire for recognition, and also self-doubt.
Extreme Idealism and Blind Pursuit: Yoriichi also represents the extreme ideals of power and perfection that Kokushibo blindly pursues. He becomes the embodiment of the illusion of power that Kokushibo believes he must achieve in order to surpass his younger brother.
The Degeneration into a Demon:
When Michikatsu abandoned everything and became Kokushibo, he became exactly that, a cold, bloodthirsty, aloof, ruthless demon, obsessed with power and victory, blindly pursuing illusory power, and living in a demon world filled with turmoil and negativity. This transformation was a direct result of his choices and obsessions.
In Buddhist culture, Kokushibo is a heartbreaking symbol of self-destruction due to hatred, jealousy and sibling rivalry. These negative emotions led him down a path of self-destruction, loss of humanity and finally death filled with regret for his choices, realization of the futility of it all, despair and doubt of the path he chose.
In Buddhism, Greed, Hatred, and Delusion are the three main poisons that cause suffering and samsara. Jealousy, rivalry, hatred, and Kokushibo's obsession with power all fall under these three poisons.
This is the law of karma and Kokushibo's punishment. He actively abandoned the people who brought him peace, love, and human values (father, mother, wife, children). As a result, his memories of them faded, even their faces disappeared, as a reflection of his own act of rejection.
Haunted by what he wanted to forget: On the contrary, Yoriichi - the person Kokushibo hated, envied and wanted to forget, the person who represented his obsession and failure - was the person whose face he could not forget. This was the most cruel punishment. He accepted the pain and degeneration to overcome Yoriichi, but Yoriichi himself became a permanent psychological shackle, unable to escape.
This is the "karma" of jealousy and hatred: Michikatsu sowed the seeds of jealousy, blind ambition, and betrayal. The result is that he is forever haunted by the object of his jealousy, never attaining true peace, and dies in confusion and regret for what he has lost and cannot regain.
The him regretting everything in the end
It is also his depth, which is also the value, the warning for anyone who gets caught up in jealousy, hatred and sibling rivalry so that later on they will destroy themselves and harm others, to later be too late and unable to turn back
Kokushibo is a prime example of how jealousy and hatred can corrode a person. He destroyed himself (turned into a demon, lost his humanity, died in despair) and caused terrible harm to others (family, Demon Slayer Corps, Muichiro). His tragedy highlights that when these emotions take control, people can go too far, to the point of no return, no matter how much regret they have.
Buddhism regards jealousy (妒嫉) and hatred (嗔恨) as hindrances, mental obstacles that cause suffering. Kokushibo's story is a clear demonstration of how these emotions completely destroyed his happiness and development. In Buddhism, rivalry, especially between brothers, is often seen as a form of greed and hatred, causing suffering and division. This makes me think of the wooden flute that Kokushibo himself had cut off, which he had always kept with him, perhaps because deep down he still loved Yoriichi, but the cutting off was destruction and division for both of them.
As in the end Kokushibo is left with only obsession, jealousy, hatred and rivalry mixed brotherly love and admiration with Yoriichi, all regrets of his choices, doubts about his path, realizing everything he did was meaningless and dies in despair.

Sorry for butting in but I couldn't help but notice that your analysis is heavily relying on religious framework to fill in gaps that don't really need filling in.
At the risk of throwing in my own personal headcanons (albeit it's not really a headcanon when it's blazingly shown in the manga) but michikatsu is a highly sensitive person. A highly sensitive person is according to psychology today.com
Individuals who are high in the trait 'sensory-processing sensitivity' aka they display a high emotional sensitivity, stronger reactivity to both external and internal stimuli - pain, hunger, light, noise and a complex inner life
Highly Sensitive Person, or HSP, is a term coined by psychologist Elaine Aron. According to Aron’s theory, HSPs are a subset of the populati
Some examples of michikatsu displaying said trait:
1. let's take a look at michikatsus thoughts after muzan offered him demonhood. Because they really drive home this entire narrative, no?
Muzan: you get to choose your fate, other swordsmen do not. So how about it?
Michikatsus thoughts: the path I wanted from the bottom of my heart lay before me. I was released from all my obligations.
2. 'I thought I could catch up to yoriichi if I just trained myself some more, but as I anguished over those painful thoughts, the marked people started dying in droves' -> with marked one's michikatsu means everyone who bears a demon slayer mark
3. 'a descendant of my own cells... is something I never imagined...it moves my heart...'
4. his last thoughts literally were:
'I can't remember my father's or mother's face and I can't remember my wife's and children's faces but yours was as clear as day. Just like the one and only sun in the world, all the humans who surrounded you, yearned for you and reached out their hands yet our only option was to writhe and suffer until we turned into ash and disappeared. Yes. Nothing. I obtained nothing. I abandoned my home. I abandoned my family. I abandoned my humanity. I abandoned my samurai past. I sliced up my descendant without a second thought. Yet even though i went this far, was it all for naught? You told me that everyone who is a master at their craft ends up in the same place. But i never got there. I couldn't see the same world you were seeing. Why can't I leave anything behind? why can't i become anyone known? why are you and I so different? why on earth was I even born? tell me. yoriichi.'
5. 'They were peaceful somewhat boring days. The flow of time felt extraordinarily slow. But then, our encampment was attacked by a demon and that accumulated time started flowing.'
6. 'At that moment, I heard the sound of my body searing with envy. I despised the prodigy known as yoriichi from the bottom of my heart.'
7. 'We encountered each other in an unwanted twist of fate.'
8. 'The moment I saw yoriichi my tranquil days were destroyed. The jealousy and hatred boiled in my stomach once again.'
9. 'Merely seeing your face made me want to vomit, merely hearing your voice made me grate my forehead in anger.'
- a highly sensitive person tends to feel their emotions on a somatic level. Kokushibo has been known to : - experience a nose bleed, clench his fists, have his veins pulsate, furrow his brow, cut things in half when angry. That's not the behaviour of an ordinary person.
That being said the memory detail is easily answered: highly sensitive people often struggle to remember precise events because they are so sensitive and in tune with the atmosphere around them (like michikatsu canonically is which one can identify from his perspective of the flow of time feeling extraordinarily slow) that the details of the moment tend to escape their memories. He can remember his mothers death and that it happened at 3 am in the morning (again, something one can read in the text of the manga) but he can't remember her name. That's another tell of his highly sensitive make-up.
Furthermore I feel like it's rather problematic to characterise people into being symbols of good and symbols of evil. That's like.. rigid, super rigid. And does not correlate with the tones of grey our world is actually etched in.
I could debunk even more of what you've said but hah, it's really not my place and I feel like I've bugged you enough. It's very well researched what you've brought up though and I respect that you actually used the source material :]
Don't worry, you don't bother me about these things
But actually you have given me one more important thing about this character, he is a very sensitive person, it contributes more to my later analysis of his psychology about him not being cold, distant and emotionless
However, this article of mine has not really said enough about everything about Kokushibo, nor am I trying to fill in the blanks for him, the problem is that Kimetsu no Yaiba is Japanese Buddhism and Shinto culture, so this article I have based on the link about that first and later I will talk about him more other things, not only here
However, in short, whether looking at Buddhist culture or their psychology, the character Kokushibo is still the same, the general thing is that jealousy, obsession with inferiority, sibling rivalry and hatred are toxic things and encourage to stay away and seek peace for the soul, and those things can all corrode and destroy a person's self.
No matter how you look at it, Kokushibo's story is a cautionary tale.
Psychology shows that excessive sensitivity, if not properly managed, can turn into destructive obsession.
Buddhism shows that negative emotions like jealousy and hatred lead to suffering and self-destruction.
And most importantly, both interpretations reaffirm that his forgetting of Aohizan's face was not because she was boring or worthless, but was a result of Michikatsu's own internal problems.
And what I also want to emphasize is that him forgetting his ex-wife's face can still be explained in many different ways, not because she is not important or Michikatsu looks down on her
and he is never cold or rude to her.
I don't like the way some people have such superficial and shallow interpretations.
Those are exactly the topics I was itching to debunk as well. But as it is, I have already written out several posts about each of these topics so I'm just going to link them here if that's okay with you

I also have a post that explains that kokushibo was not obsessed with yoriichi. That kokushibo forgot all about yoriichi until yoriichi was old and face to face with him. It's only when yoriichi dies in front of him that it traumatises kokushibo so much...
And even then in the fight between kokushibo, gyomei, sanemi, genya and muichiro it takes gyomeis dialogue for kokushibo to even THINK about yoriichi again.
Sorry, I may not agree with your views on the articles you posted, honestly it is not true to the official statement and also some issues with the character's personality and the Samurai culture society that you said was cruel to all involved
It makes me feel quite...problematic and there is an imposition of modern and western standards on ancient Japanese culture
But I appreciate how you did your research and I respect that
The only thing I agree with is what Michikatsu is searching for meaning in himself and the rest I don't feel is appropriate or really true
sorry😭

This article ends here <3
Hello. I hope you're doing well. Thank you for responding to my question. I really appreciate it. I have another question to ask you, what do you think of Mitsuri Kanroji from the kny?
Because for me, I think she's a wonderful person. I like her so much because she's happy, emotional, sensitive, joyful, and positive. She's even friendly and cheerful to be with. I also like her braiding hair, it looks great on her :3
Hi, thanks for asking and wishing you well, hope you are too
To me, Mitsuri is not only optimistic, cheerful, emotional, friendly and sensitive
On the other hand, this character aspect is very deep in the inner desire for self-acceptance and insecurity about one's own differences in strength, appearance and eating habits
Also, I don't like how many people don't understand the depth of her excuse of looking for a strong husband, it's just a cover to cover up her insecurities and the reason she joined the Demon Slayer Corps, it's like a reflection of her search for self-love and self-acceptance
In reality, she's not really looking for a stronger husband
What she's looking for is to find a way to accept herself through the meaning of love to affirm herself, she wants to find someone who can make her not be strange about herself
At the same time, she also wants to help people with her own power, she wants with what she has like power can be useful and can protect people from danger, she is always kind and altruistic not like some people act as if she is selfish
She cares and protects people not because she wants to find a strong husband but because the Demon Slayer Corps is an important place like her family, a place where she can continue to be herself and acceptance, without having to hide herself, a place where her strength is revealed not bad or meaningless.
Even the manga mentions her about her inner monologue about how the thanks of the people she saved gave her motivation, the people she befriended, the people who made her better and even her parents helped her become stronger, thanks to that she was able to continue saving people and even save more people. If she simply wanted to find a strong husband, she wouldn't have to always risk so much that she almost lost her life several times to save people. Surely no one would do that . This proves that her altruism and courage are stronger than any personal desires.
Well, that's some of me about Mitsuri's character
If I talk about more aspects, it will be much longer
I really like characters who hide and create a shell, are self-conscious and crave recognition or acceptance of themselves, want to fit in and connect
Thanks for asking <3
SatoChoso!! 👐✨
Rare ship but also my favorite ship in Jujutsu Kaisen 💙💜
Hello! I hope you're doing well. I have a question for you to ask. What are one of the worst and illegal ships you've had seen in kny? It can be from hashiras, demons, etc. And you can explain too if you want.
Because me? I had seen a lot of worst and illegal ships in kny even the non-toxic and legal ships gets a lot of negativity from the bad ships. It's just so vile.
Oh hi! Hope you do too
Thanks for asking <3
First of all, I see a lot of bad and general illegal shipping in Kimetsu no Yaiba - proship and comship, it's quite long to list them all
I don't understand why they exist and are shipped
That's Giyuutan, Uzuizen, Doudaki, Doukoto, Renaka, YoriiKoku/Yoriimichi and so on.
They make me disgusted and defensive
Yes, secondly, I also see a lot of people shipping those proship stuff always attacking harmless ships like
Giyuutan and Uzuizen attacking Tanzen and Giyushino
Yoriimichi attacking Kokunaki
and so on.
The hypocrisy of this fandom gives me goosebumps
Thank you so much for answering my question (I apologize for the very late reply, I had been very busy) and I do agree what you said. People in the fandom needs to lash out their negativity on the bad ones instead of the good ones. Even with this one, I want to share it with you:
If you might know or not, I had seen some people who likes Shinobu would often look down on Douma and would say some bad things about him and mischaracterized him. Calling him a "psychopath" or "who likes to hurt people for fun" is not Douma. The amount of misunderstood that he got is so high.
Also, just like to Kokushibo, the people who likes Nakime would often look down on Kokushibo and would also some bad things about him like, "Why is he the upper moon 1? It should have been Nakime, she owns the castle." Like this line is getting very, very irritating and saying that Nakime should have been the upper moon 1 is an insult, a huge insult towards to Kokushibo who has trained better and worked hard better than Nakime just sitting and played her instrument. Plus, she's actually boring and Kokushibo was more interesting than her. She doesn't even owns the castle either and Kokushibo can easily beat her.
It's hilarious of how both people who are into Shinobu and Nakime would look down and say bad things to the characters who more stronger (Kokushibo and Douma) than their characters who are not in a high and strong level (Shinobu and Nakime). They're probably just jealous that Kokushibo and Douma are stronger than theirs.
Yes, the misinformation about Doma is disturbing and I always have to fight to regain the truth about him
It's a bit sad that some Shinobu fans try to misrepresent Doma just because of their anger towards him but at least I met friendly Shinobu fans who also love Doma
Doma's real motive is to save people, I guess the majority never use their heads and no go read the official information from manga, fanbooks and Light Novels
There are even people who describe Doma as a pervert, do they know how it works? It must have emotions, 強い執着 and 渇望 even psychopaths must have these but Doma confirmed that it doesn't and doesn't
Yeah, most of the Nakime fans(i don't say all) can't accept her being in Upper Moon 4, they act like they know the characters and plot better than the author??
About the character Nakime, I want to elaborate more on the meaning of this character that Nakime fans hardly know
Her Blood Demon Art is related to her personality and its deep meaning such as:
Peaceful/Quiet: Her castle is a large, quiet space where she can concentrate on playing Biwa and carrying out orders. It reflects her desire for a private, undisturbed space.
Steadfast/Mastery: After being controlled and abused by her ex-husband, Nakime's ability to have absolute control over a large and complex space like Infinity Fortress is liberating and takes back control of her life. She is no longer a victim but a controller.
Speak Up: Her Biwa music is not only a tool of control but also her voice, something she longed to be recognized for as a human.
Nakime's seclusion in the Fortress is not because she is physically weak (although she is not strong in close combat), but because it is her best defense strategy, where she has absolute advantage and feels safe, away from the harmful elements she has suffered in the past.
It is the perfect combination. The pain and repression from the past has shaped her power and how she uses it, turning a tragedy into an ability to defend and control.
And I hate most anyone who says she should go out and fight more.
And saying "Nakime should become Upper Moon 1 because she manipulates the whole Castle" is not okay and insults her character
Because Upper Moon 1 requires more than that and even pressure, it doesn't fit her character who always wants to be quiet, wants to always keep herself calm and complete her mission well
Upper Moon 1's requirements: The position of Upper Moon 1 requires terrifying fighting power, more ruthlessness, a desire to excel and the ability to directly and continuously confront Demon Hunters. It requires a huge ambition and pressure to maintain the position and develop power.
Nakime's personality: Nakime is quiet, introverted, and prioritizes peace and efficiency. She has no ambition for power or desire for battle. The position of Upper Moon One would go completely against her nature and desires, pushing her into an environment full of pressure and conflict that she does not desire.
Nakime may be the one who created the Castle and manages it according to the fanbook but it still can't beat Kokushibo
Anyway, this fandom is just filled with subjective kids so you don't need to worry
What do you think about doushino? Is it a good relationship for douma :^?
Overall, I have mixed feelings about it
First of all, I don't like it because you know the canon about them (if you know what I mean)
The other thing is, however, I still find it meaningful, Doma dying and falling in love with Shinobu has a connection to Loving-Kindness - Compassion -Sympathetic joy - Equanimity in Buddhist culture, they have a connection to the popular concept in Buddhist culture like if you were enemies in the previous life, you will be husband and wife in the next life
Also many love symbols in Japanese culture about wisteria
Whether this is a good relationship between Doma or not, I can't be sure objectively because of the barrier in the canon relationship between them.
Thanks for asking <3
"Kokushibo x Douma"
Birthday art for @/Estrotengen on Twitter! Their Fem designs are really cute :)
