I am actually quite an amateur digital artist…!
I use Autodesk Sketchbook for Windows & a stylus; I think the pro is about $20, but I just use the free version! As for specific tools, I've gone through quite a few and am still testing to see what I like best!—
—For pieces like this one, I use the “arrow” brush tool with various opacities and sizes for the shading & shadows, along with the Pencil tool for all line-work and details; my line-work is almost always done with the simple Pencil tool in 4B, I really like the soft finish.
For pieces like this one, I use the Paintbrush tool for flat coloring of the figures, then "wet bristles", "camo", and other various texture tools for the scenic background, such as the “dot” brush in different sizes for some little flowers. Then I often go back in with the pencil tool for delicate details such as blades of grass or strands of hair.
And for works like this, a mixture of both approaches~
For ones like this, I utilized the blending tool to soften some of the harsh edges of the “arrow” brush. I also on a whim decided to use texture "brush 5" (glow type) for some eye-catching moments!
And I am still experimenting! ٩(๑`^´๑)۶
For this wip I am trying out a new watercolor brush and returning to some detailed line-work which I haven’t done in a little while ♪( ´▽｀)
and of course for all my work I use lots and lots of references !!
