It’s a goodbye~

After a long period of conflict and my friend (who has been lovingly “supporting” me all this time) persuading me to close this blog (she has her reasons) I’ve finally decided to let go~

Watching the ZJ series grow on Tumblr has made me so proud of this series, and seeing this fandom become what it is now is so... it just leaves me speechless. Running this blog has introduced me to so many people and I can never thank the ZJ series enough for that.

However... I think it’s time to move on. I’m tired being so close to the “root” of the series. I don’t even know what I mean, but I just want to be an audience now. I will still stay posted about this series, but not as an admin of a blog anymore. I want to go back to being regular fan.

Anyway, I’ll still be here, right over at @linzihong, doing my own things. I don’t want to delete this blog, but I will have to stop updating for this to be at the top of the page, so I’ll close this askbox~

I watched some bts and the cast are so hilarious! Could you describe some of their personalities? Like is Jin Bao San a lot like his character? (he kinda seems like it lol) And Pets seems so cheerful and assertive haha. Also do you know why in KO 1 they decided to name Xiu's character his real name?

I don’t know many of the cast, so I can’t really describe their personalities, but they are all a bit like their character in a charming way. Xiao Hou, though, I know is more playful than Na Ge Shui and makes sarcastic remarks that makes it hard to forget his presence.

I don’t know why they kept Xiu’s name, but they also changed it from 陳德修 to a fancier character of 脩, so they technically only kept the pronunciation. Same with the other members of Dong Cheng Wei.

(Just started KO Return) When Da Dong calls King "Xing Lei De", is that like calling King "the one who's surename is Ling" kinda thing? Why does he not just call them Lei Ting or King?

“Xing Lei De” or “姓雷的” literally translates to “surnamed Lei” and is used in a rude manner. It’s kind of like Malfoy going like “Potter” but more casual and laid back. Still rude, though.

Does Lu Bu's actor appear again? In 3an Guo is he assumed dead or just disappeared or something?

No he’s gone. Nobody from the Silver Dimension that was in 3anGuo appears anywhere outside of the installment.

Hello! This isn't a question about ZJ but I was hoping to get an answer! I saw that you're from Mainland China so was just wondering if there's much difference between Putonghua and GuoYu? (I am from Hong Kong/Cantonese speaker but in EU from a young age, so trying to learn GuoYu and Chinese writing) Are you able to guess the Traditional characters? I know some nouns/wording is different in China vs Taiwan. Is the accent very different? Sorry! I've gotten many different answers...

Putonghua = Guoyu, but Putonghua literally translates to “common language” and Guoyu translates to “national language” which can be problematic because the second implies a dialect-superiority type of stuff but the first implies there are multiple languages and this one is the common one we share. The first one is more commonly used to describe “Mandarin” in mainland because there are so many dialects that implying there’s a national language wouldn’t… be.. appropriate? Whereas Taiwan refers to Mandarin as Guoyu because it’s their national language. They both just mean Mandarin, and since we’re doing this in English that’s what that’s going to be referred to starting from this point of the ask.

Rather than different characters in China and Taiwan, it’s just the difference of simplified (China) and traditional (Taiwan, Hong Kong) Chinese characters. Some characters are practically intelligible, like 龍 and 龙 (dragon), while some are pretty similar, like 偉 and 伟 (grand). If you’re from Hong Kong, then you’re probably more familiar with traditional Chinese that’s also used in Taiwan, so simplified can look a bit off. In the end, it’s just getting-used-to that takes time. If you can already read Chinese, it shouldn’t be too hard though. I grew up using simplified but at this point I don’t even remember if I’m using simplified or traditional because I’m so used to seeing these two intertwined.

The Chinese and Taiwanese “accent” can be simplified to “tongue curling.” The mainland Chinese uses an “alphabet” called Pinyin, which is literally just romanization of the Chinese pronunciation. The Pinyin uses tongue curling sounds such as ZH vs. Z, CH vs. C, SH vs. S, with the extra H indicating a tongue curl. The Taiwanese uses an alphabet called Zhuyin (google “bo po mo fo”) which looks quite like the Japanese alphabets (both deriving from ancient Chinese characters) and used quite like Korean Hangul (consonants and vowels drawn out to pronounce one character in one syllable). Taiwanese, or Taiwanese Hokkien specifically, is more “Germanic” in its pronunciations. I’m using “Germanic” here to mean that there’s no tongue curling in Taiwanese, so it would make sense that that would lead to them ignoring the tongue curling in Mandarin. The accents are not that different since it’s just the matter of curling one’s tongue or not, but it’s usually quite obvious of a difference. It’s like talking with someone from up north and even though they don’t sound that different from you, you know they’re from the north.

So Xiu's wife Ah Xiang and her brother Ce is actually from the Iron dimension, and when Yi Si Ti killed the Sun family in the Silver dimension, was it just a coincident that the Sun children are also called Xiang and Ce? Or wait were Ah Xiang and Ce born in the Silver dimension? A bit confused /_\

Well Ye Si Ti practically took over the identity of Sun Quan and he was probably prompted to name his children that way because of the workings of the universe trying to right itself, but in the end it all blew up because Ye Si Ti was no longer happy just being Sun Quan and wanted greater power with his birth powers as an Iron Dimension demonized Yi-Neng user.

Have you heard about the rumors about there going to be a 終極一班5？ and how jiro said he will return as Wang da dong? I hear it's going to be a 2017 project... I wonder about the x family 2 then... Your thoughts?

Since in the finale Da Dong went all like “yeah we’ll meet again” to Lei Ting people are speculating that it’s confirmed there will be a KO One 5. I personally think there will be a KO One 5, but I don’t dare to speculate the plot because the real thing will be so far away from my expectations, if there is a real thing coming. 

The X-Family 2 is going to be a myth I refuse to believe in until the day it’s released. :)

What do you know about KO One Remember's popularity in mainland?

It has hit more than 1.2 billion views lately on Youku, but that also include views outside of mainland. It is notable that there’s a meme on Weibo with Zhi’s attack that sounds like “cantaloupe” so it’s doing pretty well if it’s getting a meme.
