As suicide awareness month is coming to an end. I want to recognize all of those who had to silently fight and silently celebrate this year. I've lost loved ones to self demons and also suffered with my own.

This month has been hard for missing lost ones.(Having personally lost so many loved ones in the month of September alone). However, I noticed that I've been neglecting another part of this month to celebrate those who stayed.

I forgot about this because I had to fight silently in this war for years, turning a blind eye to the battles I've won. Having to go back to society, which made me feel worse about myself, rather than be triumphant. Back to those who had no idea that their words or actions had me at the edge of a cliff. I'm not sure if I turned a blind eye because I've never felt worth celebrating or if I was just a glutton for punishment.

This year was different somehow. I was able to feel pride in my failed attempts. I've felt at ease. I'm able to have clarity and see my worth.

This is my message to anyone who is battling silently or not.

I'm routing for you! You are not weak. You are a gladiator of your own making. You are a fighter who has seen the darkness of this life and can keep fighting. Each battle you've won, just know I'm cheering you on.

It may be quite physically, but you have an unseen family who is fighting their own demons in this same war with you. This family couldn't be more proud of you being here. Your life is worth celebrating ♡

I may not know your name, age, or background of any kind. However, I see you. I love you. I'm so glad you're here.

During the Holocaust, Nazis referred to Jews as “subhuman” (untermenschen). The dehumanisation in propaganda is what facilitated the genocide of 6 million Jews during WWII and it is exactly what we are seeing happen right now from Israel
