-one of dave’s unironic favourite books is young man with camera. jade got it for him for his birthday at rose’s reccomendation, and it’s kinda his comfort story.
-the first time rose read butterfly soup she cried for a literal hour. like actual sobbing. it was really cathartic and if you tell anybody she’ll kill you.
-rose went to catholic school and has a lot of really weird relationships with religon
-rose wasn’t at school when sburb started because of easter break, same as john. jade is “homeschooled” by her grandpa, and she has a decent knowledge of most subjects despite none of her education being formal and not knowing what textbooks are. dave didn’t ever attend school, and while he’s pretty smart when it comes to things he needs to know and on-the-fly solutions, he knows very little of things that are common knowledge but don’t pertain to his life- the guy couldn’t tell you where england was if you put a gun to his head.
-rose learned embroidery from her mother when she was really young- so young, in fact, that she doesn’t remember it was her mother that taught her.
-john enjoys jazz, something he picked up from his dad. he had a huge crush on haley reinhart because of her postmodern jukebox covers.
-rose had to take ballet classes when she was younger, and she was good- she’d been learning en pointe for about 3 months by the time homestuck started.
-dave and rose’s eyes are both due to a genetic mutation- it changes the way the iris forms, allowing both the natural eye colour and colouring of the blood vessels to show, each to varying degrees. without it, roxy and rose’s eyes would be blue and dirk and dave’s would be brown- that’s partially why dirk and dave wear sunglasses, with how much their eyes are lightened and show the blood underneath, they both have light sensitivities, dave more so than dirk. it affects rose far less, since her eyes aren’t affected a lot by the mutation.
-jade’s speaking voice is really loud- when her grandpa was going deaf, she had to raise her voice a lot to talk to him, and she had to call bec from across the island a lot, so she learned to project her voice.
-rose loves welcome to nightvale, and she especially likes listening while she knits- it makes her feel old-timey.
-john likes blueberry pie.
-john likes pokemon and animal crossing a lot- jade thinks they’re neat, but she has trouble learning the controls. john’s favourite, though, is mario, which jade despises because she’s terrible at platformer games.
-sometimes when jade’s having a bad day, bec will just lay on top of her like a weighted blanket. it’s very comforting, and only minimally radioactive.
-jade had never had candy before her friends mailed her some. she likes nerds and pixy sticks the most, and she doesn’t like chocolate.
-rose likes those dark chocolate-covered pomegranate candies.
-dave drinks way too much coffee for a middle-schooler with a crapton of sugar.
-rose actually likes starbucks, but she would never admit it.
-rose’s favourite drink is black tea with some cranberry-rasperry juice, which she learned from her mom, but rose makes hers way more bitter.
-john enjoys almonds, despite being deathly allergic to peanuts
