If you didn't know this person is going around claiming that John Money (responsible for the horrific David Reimer case) invented radical feminism on the basis of the paper they wrote for their 100-level English class. They even have a little cheerleader telling everyone to read their highly sourced and professional work on this complex subject and telling us we should write an academic paper in response if we don't believe this thesis. I reiterate that this is an essay for a 100-level undergraduate English course. The human individual responsible for this is in their 30s, and they share all their payment apps at the bottom of their pinned post because of how exhausting and traumatizing it was for them to source and write this college freshman English paper. Regarding the decision on the Tickle v Giggle case, I would like to remind everyone that:
Australia has a population of 26.7 million, of that 26 million, 13.9 million are female (as of 2024).
1 in 4 Australian women have experienced physical/and or sexual violence since the age of 15.
In Australia, intimate partner violence contributes to more death, disability and illness in women aged 25 to 44 than any other preventable risk factor.
On average, one woman is killed every nine days by a current or former partner, this number should equate to 26 women this year. However, at least 58 women and girls have been victims of femicide in Australia this year (as of August 27, 2024).
1 in 3 Australian women and girls have experienced physical violence since the age of 15.

partner emotional abuse or stalking since the age of 15.
Around 1 in 4 men in Australia aged 18 to 45 say they have used physical and/or sexual violence against an intimate partner.
Men in Australia made up 86% of all homicide perpatrators in 2021-2022.
Men were the perpetrators of 93% of all sexual offences in Australia in 2021-2022.
The biggest threat to the safety and dignity of women and children in Australia is men.
Instead of protecting women and girls, Australia has instead decided that same-sex spaces for women and girls are discriminatory, and MUST accomodate any male who wishes to invade. That biological sex, and I quote directly from the summary of the case (which can be found on the Federal Court website): 'is changeable.' It is not.
It is unconscionable that a male Justice can make a decision likely to set a legal precedent affecting millions of women and girls. It is unconsionable that this decision is being celebrated and positioned as a win for 'human rights' rather than yet another example of male class solidarity and the virulent misogyny of this country. This case, and many of the cases Australia has seen these past few years, are nothing but endorsements of male privilege.
Don't be fooled: this was not about an app. This was about a man's desire to exert his privilege over women. And he won.
What a gross betrayal of women's rights and safety.
Okay, be for fucking real for a second. If we take Neil Gaiman's version of events at face value, he initiated a sexual relationship with his 6-year-old child's 21-year-old nanny within hours of meeting her, as a 61-year-old man who is also rich, famous, and influential.
He lived her lifetime two times over before she was even born. He was her employer. She was dependent on him and his wife for her housing. And he pursued a relationship with her despite all of those facts. And that's someone you think is a good person being unfairly accused of abusing his power?
If we go by Neil's account of the situation, the power dynamics are still so utterly skewed, and the situation is still so utterly creepy that I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that the relationship was "consensual." Powerful old men should not be sleeping with their young employees.
Quite frankly, any man who would engage in such a relationship and consider it consensual has too warped an understanding of consent to be trusted in his assessment of whether there was consent.
A man who isn't predatory and abusive would never have sought out this "relationship" to begin with. Much less coerced the girl in question into signing an NDA after the fact in exchange for paying her rent while she was struggling and even hospitalized with suicidal urges in the aftermath of their "relationship."
Neil's behaviour with Scarlett, even if we take his account as the truth, was utterly unacceptable. A 61-year-old man with enormous influence and resources should not be seeking reassurance and support about HIS mental health from a 21-year-old who was IN THE HOSPITAL ON SUICIDE WATCH.
Listening to his audio messages tells you everything you need to know: that he was manipulative, inappropriate, and careful. He guilts her into reassuring him repeatedly that she consented, that he did nothing wrong. He presents himself as suicidal because of the idea that she is "planning to 'MeToo' him." He makes her care for HIM and reassure HIM as if he is the vulnerable party. His messages to her show a man preoccupied with self-image. They show a man with awful boundaries. They show a predator who is very invested in his (self-)image as a "good guy."
Be for fucking real. What's more likely: that a famous and powerful man abused his power and crossed boundaries with young, vulnerable women, who he ADMITS TO ENGAGING IN SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH, or that these two women on separate continents with 20 years separating their experiences are engaged in a conspiracy to smear the name of a man with whom they had loving, consensual relationships? What's more likely? That a powerful man crafted a wholesome public persona while behaving reprehensibly behind closed doors, or that journalists conspired against him to destroy his image because he happens to support trans rights? BE FOR FUCKING REAL.
I believe that so far we don't have enough evidence to believe nor to not believe the accusations against Neil Gaiman. I cannot pass any judgment on that and hope that serious press vehicles verify the facts.
What I do believe is that it's awfully convenient that radfems and JK Rowling supporters (seriously, look at the tags of the people spreading the story) are stirring it up just after both David Tennant and Michael Sheen criticized an alt-right politician in a moment where the alt-right is losing and desperate. And, unless they shun Neil Gaiman immediately, they will be accused of siding with a rapist.
It's possible that one or both things are true: the allegations against him and a targeted campaign by the alt-right. If both things are true, the stories of victims of sexual abuse are being exploited to discredit not only the perpetrator but also unrelated people who dared to protest for workers and trans people rights.
It will be a mess. And radfems will have a rude awakening when they are not useful to the alt-right anymore, specially the lesbian and bisexual ones, and their rights get erased. The victims, real or not, may also suffer further emotional damage in the turmoil.
I hope to be extremely wrong about everything.
Edited to add: when I say that I can't pass judgment, it's not about not knowing the women who came forward; it's about not knowing enough about the vehicle who published the story. A podcast is not accessible for me and I have never heard of the website and its reputation.
I will not be spending energy answering asks that are clearly in bad faith. I do not feel compelled to defend or attack Gaiman and will not be pushed to a stance that is not mine.
It is absolutely sick how youâre trying to twist feministsâ genuine concern regarding the allegations against Neil Gaiman as us âstirring it upâ to exploit them on behalf of the alt-right. Radical feminism is an inherently leftist ideologyâwhich, you would know if you werenât so willingly ignorant. Our foundational beliefs are directly in contrast with the ideology of the right.
Feminists are talking about the Gaiman allegations because we actually care about women. We care about the power imbalances (older, wealthy, famous male author, vs younger, poorer, unknown women.) Already you can see how his fame is protecting him: left and right his fans are falling over backwards trying to defend him, whether outwardly, or more subtly, by deflection: which is what youâre doing! This is not objectivity, it is an attempt to silence the conversation by claiming it is a right-wing psyop to punish two unrelated parties (Tennant and Sheen), rather than what the conversation is actually about which is: Gaiman harming women.
