katara considered using her spirit water from the north pole to heal zuko's scar, but i wonder why she didn't use it to save jet. or at least consider it. because i know plot-wise she obviously has to use it to save aang. but i feel like they couldve at least shown her consider using it on jet. perhaps with jet refusing because he believes he doesn't want a false chance or something.

Thinking of a redeemed Jet joins the gaang AU that follows the Legend of Korra canon. Jet being so pissed off that the White Lotus basically locked Korra away from the world like a prisoner and deciding every couple of nights to "borrow" Zuko's dragon and take her out so she can see what life outside of the compound is like. Cue cool uncle Jet and baby Korra shenanigans while Jet tries not to think about how depressed Aang would be after growing up with the element of freedom and learning that his reincarnation is basically locked in a gilded cage

Hit in the head with an idea.

Jet survives Lake Laogai. How isn't important. That he makes it out is.

Zuko still makes the same decision to do the right thing and set Appa free. But, at the end, he doesn't get rid of the Blue Spirit mask. Yeah, symbolically dropping it into Lake Laogai to show how he's making the choice to let that part of him go would be nice, but...that alter ego has come through for him. He's not ready to let the Blue Spirit just die.

So he takes the mask home. He has his good choices induced fever, all that stuff. Comes out a happier lad, as he does.

Jet decides to stick around in the Lower Ring. He's learned his lesson not to do anything to attract the Dai Li's attention, even if Aang and everyone else got the Earth King to listen to them. Not worth the risk. Corruption like that doesn't go away overnight. But there's a lot of good people in the Lower Ring that could use someone looking out for them, in case any more firebenders make it into the city. Jet can try to take care of them real quiet like.

Zuko and Iroh pack to move to the Upper Ring for their new tea shop. There's that Blue Spirit mask. Zuko doesn't need it. There isn't a reason to bring it with him to the Upper Ring. But he can't just throw it away.

And, with the post good choices induced fever dream clarity, Zuko thinks about Jet. How Jet was right, kind of; he and Iroh weren't any threat, but they are Fire Nation. And Fire Nation getting into Ba Sing Se that isn't them is a bad thing. Somehow, Jet figured it out, and tried to do something about it. Jet is smart, he's sharp, he can sneak about.

Zuko leaves the Blue Spirit mask with Jet. Doesn't hand it to him, leaves it on his windowsill.

If anyone can make use of that mask, Zuko figures, it's Jet. Might get into trouble- probably will get into trouble- but maybe he might also do some good with it in the end, too.

A little ironic. I wanted to give Jet an eagle or wolf mask at first since it represents him so well, but I was so deadset on it being an Avatar-style animal.

So I went to the list and couldn't find any I wanted, but then, I found out that Komodo-Rhinos are very protective with their younglings (which I associated to his Freedom Fighters kids). Every possible choices suddenly fell to the Komodo-Rhinos mask ideas and I cannot help myself...

Always loved the idea that Jet to the core revolves around Fire Nation. That his entire existence was raised by Fire Nation after the raid. Oh oops I almost started at rambling. What's more ironic than his animal being the very same animal that Rough Rhino who burned his village and family rode?

Thinking about Jet Lives AUs and how the only realistic future for Jet that I see is one in which he's completely and totally lost.

Every other character has something they can either return to, or a role they can step into. Sokka and Katara have their home in the SWT and their dad they e been reunited with, Zuko is coronated as the new Fire Lord for a new era, Aang has fully stepped into his role as Avatar and has a lot of rebuilding to help with, Suki has her Kyoshi Warriors to lead, Toph has the option of going back home to her parents or becoming a competitive bender- both are things familiar to her- or even becoming a teacher of her unique bending style and abilities. For the secondary and background characters, Haru has his home to return to, Teo can stick with his dad, Ty Lee joins the Kyoshi Warriors, Mai has her home to return to and Zuko to return to.

But Jet? Jet has no home and no family to return to. Not his blood family, who are all dead, and not the Freedom Fighters, who have disbanded. There's nothing for him in Gaipan, and I'd wager even less for him in Ba Sing Se but horrible memories. He's spent his whole life hating and fighting back against the Fire Nation that it became a core part of his identity. When the war ends and the Fire Nation pulls out of the Earth Kingdom and there's peace between the nations, what's left for Jet? His purpose is gone, he's got no path forward and no path home.

It seems reasonable to me that Jet might experience something akin to a crisis of identity or something.

Been doing a lot of thinking about Jet and the brainwashing he experienced, and how I think that, in a way, his death was maybe a kinder fate than living.

Jet experienced having not only new memories implanted, but old ones altered. And sure, with Katara's help, he was able to remember a bit, of going to Lake Laogai, but are all his memories back and really his? Can he ever know for certain that what he remembers is real, or that there aren't other memories that were added, altered, or blocked out?

Not to mention the horrifying trigger phrase, that renders him completely under someone else's control? That he can be used to fight and harm his friends, those that trust him? Yeah, he broke through it then with Aang's help, but just because he was able to fight through it once doesn't mean that the trigger phrase became powerless. It might have, but Jet won't know unless someone else tries to use it on him.

So what would it be like, for Jet, to survive and never know if his memories are real, and to know he can instantly be used as a weapon against his friends? Jet is already hyper vigilant, verging into paranoia. What sort of life can he have if he can't trust others and can't trust his own mind?

Nublar 6 movie taste headcanons:

Brooklyn:

-> Absolutely into drama movies, mainly those with extremely intricate plots and a darker mood.

-> Enjoys alternative/non mainstream movies and can comment on every really old movie

-> In her teenage years, going to the movie theatre in malls usually wasn’t an option due to being almost certain that she’d be stopped by fans, so she started attending one close to her house that only ever reprised old movies

-> She started learning more about cinema to make reviews on her channel and developed a hobby out of it.

-> Always watching horror movies (mostly to comment on how bad they are after)

-> Can make a detailed analysis of the quality of special effects, and will always criticize CGI over real props/effects/make up

-> Most of the camp fam can’t stand her movie choices, but Yaz likes hearing her cinematographic analysis of movies and Ben loves to discuss cinema conspiracy theories with her.

-> Will casually drop a “oh, I went to a party with him once” about super famous actors and leave everyone in disbelief

-> Talks and talks and talks after the movie ends and won’t stop until everyone gets her take on it

-> Gets mad when people start talking midfilm without pausing

Sammy:

-> Loves comedy movies with her whole heart.

-> Has watched every single Disney Channel movie growing up and keeps rewatching them every now and then

-> Falls in love with every new animation and won’t stand criticism about her favorite Disney movies

-> Brooklyn likes to watch animated movies with her, but got screamed at by Sammy after saying Frozen’s plot was nonsense

-> Always bakes something for a movie night

-> Absolutely loves musicals, and sings along with the characters

-> Definitely a crier

-> Doesn’t watch a lot of horror movies, but every once in a while gets obsessed with one

Yaz:

-> Mostly into thrillers and investigative films

-> Likes biographical movies

-> Isn’t really into comedy, but will watch it to keep Sammy company

-> Is a hater of the new wave of animated movies (but knows better than to say it around Sammy), but likes to watch the classical 2D ones

-> Knows the details about the whole animating process of old films

-> Hates horror movies so much that the camp fam knows better then to invite her to watching one (she hates how dumb the plots usually are and also avoids them in order not to trigger her PTSD in some way)

-> Can’t stand musicals

-> Is into superhero comics, but didn’t used to watched the movies until Darius started inviting her to do so (I have a headcanon that, some months after them coming back from Nublar, Yaz goes through a surgery due to her prior ankle injuries, and since she has to stay home during a long part of the recovery process, she starts playing videogames to pass the time and ends up playing online games a lot with Darius. They got closer during this time, and eventually they’d call each other to watch some superhero movie Yaz hasn’t watched)

-> Is more into shows than movies, which ends up solving her movie taste difference with Sammy, since both of them enjoy sitcoms and investigative shows

Darius:

-> Has an unhealthy obsession with superhero movies, mainly DC

-> Can go on for ours about every single superhero movie that has ever been released (he remembers every detail with a scary precision)

-> Used to binge watch superhero movies with Kenji after he moved in with the Bowmans

-> Got Yaz into watching superhero movies after finding out she is a fan of the comics (they even went to a Comic Con with Kenji and Brookly once)

-> Enjoys documentaries on wild life

-> Likes sci-fi, but always get extremely critical about every single scientific incoherence to the point of everyone shouting at him to be quiet

-> Will watch anything (and will always be glad to watch some of Brooklyn’s non mainstream movies to hear her talk about it after), but will likely sleep through anything he doesn’t find super exciting. Also, musicals give him headaches

Kenji:

-> Is the one with the most eclectic movie taste, but usually prefers to pair up with Sammy when it comes to films

-> Loves 2000’s comedy movies

-> Got into animation mostly because of Sammy

-> Also definitely a crier

-> Is a strong Spiderman fan

-> Always mocking Brooklyn’s movie taste, but on the inside he appreciates her recommendations and actually enjoys them

-> Favorite genre is probably adventure movies (has to point out that he’s climbed bigger rocks than the main character has)

Ben:

-> Crazy about sci-fi movies, and had a heavy Star Was fase as a kid

-> The more insane the movie, the better

-> Got Kenji into his favorites sci-fi movies during the time he was staying with him at the hospital post jwct s4

-> Comes up with crazy scripts for the sequel just to get it entirely wrong

-> Brings an unhealthy amount of candy to movie sessions

-> Knows Yaz is picky with movies, so he always sends her the ones he thinks are according to her taste (usually is right)

-> Frequent 2 am calls with Brooklyn discussing some movie

-> Doesn’t like movie theaters and rather watch them at home

-> Started watching italian movies to help him learn the language for Gia, and Brookyn decided to also go an get into italian cinema

Okay hear me out it's gonna sound stupid but I still wanna talk about it.

So we know how Darius at the end of season was still at Biosyn working and when he came back to the U.S everyone was at his cabin

so what I'm thinking is that Darius didn't know Ben was gonna show up. That the rest of the group knew Ben was coming but decided not to tell Darius and keep it as a surprise

His reaction is different from everyone else's when they see Ben

Everyone is smiling and obviously in shock but they look like they knew he was coming to they were immediately happy while Darius is just in shock that Ben's there

And then he finally proceeded that Ben is actually there and then runs after him with the rest of the group

ALSO I feel like if Darius knew Ben was coming then his reaction would've matched the girls and the sign they had on the porch would've been there long before Darius came

In this picture we don't see a welcome home Ben sign and Yaz and Sammy are working on the plank for Ben so my theory is that they kept Darius inside when they put the sign up so he didn't get suspicious and when he and Yaz went outside to put the plates on the table she kept him away from looking at what it says and made some stupid excuse about it being some kind of sheet that needs drying .
