Have you heard of picking a word to represent or focus your year on? I mean everyone’s heard of New Years resolutions duh, which I hate btw. Never make them, could never keep one. But this year a lot of people I’ve met are doing this word for the year thing. Things like Stretch, Courage, Confidence etc. I was asked a couple weeks back and for the life of me I couldn’t think of one. Or if I did not one that felt right. Until tonight. Forgiveness. I used to do it really well but the last few years I’ve really struggled with it and it’s caused me to lose my way and hang on to bitterness that is eating away at my joy. January’s are always over whelming. Everyone’s making plans and setting goals for what to accomplish in the new year. I don’t know about you but most days I have a hard time planning what’s for dinner much less what my years going to look like. The problem with that is when December comes back around I’m always confused how the year went by so fast and why I didn’t get to do all the things I’d thought about. I start getting frustrated and down on myself. Well this year I’m trying to break that cycle. I’m taking the time to reflect on all the things I got done in 2017 because even though it doesn’t seem like I got a lot done it was a big year! I moved my family from NY to SC, I joined Maskcara and have met a tribe of amazing woman, I’ve traveled a lot to stay connected after moving, I fought for my kids and won!! I bought a new to me car!
