I know I said I’m done with DanPlan, but someone on reddit (StarrTheSin) made an itemized and time stamped list on Daniel’s video and I had to paste it here:
As many of you might know, Dan finally made a response video, and since I'm not really good at writing intros, I'll just skip right to it.
First things first, I took both Dan and Stephen's videos with the benefit of doubt, and my intention for this post is only to share my point of view on the matter, and nothing more. I'm not gonna say stuff like "I don't really know who to trust at this point", "I won't take sides", or shit like that, cause I know fuck well who to believe. Also there's probably gonna be a lot of cussing cause that's just my habit, I'll try to keep it down though. And this thread is probably gonna be pretty long, so sit down and get comfy <3.
Tip: If you really want to have a clear view at the situation and you have time, take a step back, review Stephen and Jay's video again after watching Dan's and collect all the main points and evidence before choosing your side, because the way the human brain works is that you're more likely to believe what's put in front of you closest to the time being, and after a while you might look back and realize "shit that's fishy".
Before I start talking about the specific details of the video, I'm gonna share my stand in this. I'm on Stephen's side, he's got Jay and the animators' evidence, and Dan's evidences are all provided by himself, so until more *reliable* people comes up and confirm that Dan is right, I will stick to Stephen's side. And by reliable source I mean people that actually have a whole insight to the story and have no reason such as family relationship, love, or any other strong relationship that can cause them to stand in for Dan even though he's in the wrong. I'm not saying that he's in the wrong, just stating the standards for a reliable resource. So before more *reliable* evidence comes up for Dan, I will stick to Stephen's side. And I've always believed that both sides have/will twisted the real story, by a little or by a lot to make it look like it's the other person's fault, because what you see might not be the whole scene, and the way the human brain works is just like that, not saying that they're doing it on purpose, it's just how the brain works.
Yay, now I'm finally getting to the video.
***Time Stamps And Evidence:***
1. 3:10 - when Dan said he got and offer for a really good job but declined for YT? I don't see any other reason for him to mention this information other than to guilt trip us. This video is a response to Stephen's video, not a video about how DanPlan came to be and how much sacrifices he made for the channel.
2. 8:27 - when Dan said Stephen demanded 33% and threatened to leave, we have no evidence Stephen threatened to leave and said there is no other reason for him to stay. It's only Dan's side and it sounds like he twisted the actual conversation, to me at least. Remember how Stephen said he stayed for Hosuh.
3. 11:02 - Dan stated that if he thought of Stephen as just and employee, he wouldn't have taken him to VidCon, Disneyland. Well, if he haven't taken Stephen to VidCon and Disneyland, it would've seemed way too obviously fishy to the viewers. When I heard Dan say this the only feeling I got was that Dan is, again, trying to make us sympathize with him.
4. 11:45 - Dan said that he made it clear that he sees Stephen as a friend after he told Stephen "you're just an employee", yeah that seems really fake to me. Thing is, if you really want to keep someone as a friend, there's just lines that you don't cross no matter how mad you are at the current situation, even as a teenager I know this, if Dan doesn't I'm concerned about his EQ. And here's a fact: whatever you say when you're the most angry/upset reflects you as a person the most. So it's clear to me that Dan only sees Stephen as an employee and not an equal, no matter how much he tries to cover it up. And he added "it's hurtful", from what I see he's tryna guilt trip again. I'm extra sensitive to stuff related to guilt tripping and manipulation, because I've been through it before. It's all about the small details they build up in your subconsciousness that makes you sympathize with them even though they're in the wrong.
5. 13:17 - Yes, the manipulative shit again, by stating that he wanted to make a separate video, Dan is making us think that it's Stephen's fault that Hosuh didn't get a formal goodbye.
6. 18:10 - Dan was strongly implying how Stephen changes his mind a lot and is immature and should've went with his idea in the beginning, strongest evidence is by using the phrases "finally", "after stating that he would never want to start a YT channel", and "it was something I wanted him to do".
7. 19:43 - Dan said Stephen stated in his video that he never considered Dan as a friend for the last nine months. If I remember clearly, Stephen never said that??? No evidence suggesting it??? And I even rewatched both videos to make sure. Not to mention using an excessively long pause is literally a well known trick in film production used to make viewers sympathize with the character more. And acting weak after that is a more obvious manipulation technique, not even gonna bother explaining.
8. 22:28 - So Dan said that what he planned for making the goodbye video he was gonna say that he respected Stephen even though they didn't see eye to eye. So basically he was gonna make Stephen seem immature to leave and make him look bad, manipulation shit :/
9. 25:28 - Dan said he wanted to have a conversation with Stephen in person before he posted the video, therefore making it seem like it's Stephen's fault that he don't want to talk. But even if you don't want to talk, at least give him a fucking response stating that you need more time.
10. 26:42 - Dan said Stephen didn't want to resolve the issue but that's not the case??? Stephen said he doesn't want to be friends again but didn't say that he don't want to resolve the issue??? Learn the difference, the issue is their disagreement that caused Stephen to leave the channel, not their friendship, if it is their friendship that they should be mature adults and keep it off YouTube.
11. 27:14 - Dan states that it's a false accusation that he's manipulative, but literally what I see in this whole video is manipulation, so there's that. Also by highlighting it's a serious accusation he's trying to make us think Stephen is accusing Dan of doing something he didn't do and is too sensitive.
12. 28:23 - Dan stated that he taught Stephen how to make invoices, which is unnecessary information and also implying that Stephen is a back stabbing bitch.
13. 28:47 - This evidence starts in the middle of Stephen's video, Stephen said he didn't care about the money and Dan says that it contradicts to his texts. No the fuck it doesn't, Stephen wanted the money because he deserved it, it involved his work, his character, and his humor. And Dan is obviously implying that if Stephen actually doesn't care about the money he would've just let Dan have the audios for free, but even as a teenager I know fuck well that's not how it works. Wanting the money for the audios is about the recognition, Stephen wants the money because it represents recognition for his efforts.
14. 29:32 - Damn bro Dan really be expecting us to believe that he took zero money from all that. If he haven't taken the money that where the fuck did it go??? Bitch paid Hosuh 15%, paid the twelve animators an *inconsistant* $450 (adding up to $5400), paid Stephen around $300, all this adds up to exactly $9,900 (I'll round it to $10k for the sake of calculations). I checked a variety of resources on the internet, DanPlan makes roughly $33k per month, subtracting the taxes and we're left with around $28k (corporate tax rate in Canada is 15%), and taking off Hosuh, Stephen, and the animators' pay, and there's still $17k Canadian dollars left, and I don't think that shit just disappears into thin air doesn't it???
15. 30:09 - "Apparently I said oh boy you're just a member" how fast Dan skipped over the topic is really fishy, so that's obvious. And I don't know if it's just me but the whole vibe I got off of the way Dan was saying the sentence made me think that he thinks of Stephen as immature and lowly. Also bitch you said that he was just and *employee*, not even a fucking member.
16. 30:32 - First of all, the table doesn't match what Dan said at 9:38 at all, he said the recording were only an average of 30-40 mins, the hours mainly range from 1-1.5 hours. And Dan highlighted the two middle columns in purpose to make us notice the text of supposedly Stephen saying means thing about Dan??? Bro you really be thinking that we won't think that it's edited by you to make Stephen look bad??? And after the table's gone Dan said that Stephen said before that he didn't want any money, but that was how long ago??? It's when the channel is just getting popular and not earning much money, Stephen is being nice by not asking for any money, but now the channel is big it's clear that Stephen deserves the money, $100 per video isn't even that much and you're flipping over it??? The fuck Dan???
17. 31:49 - Umm of course he was asking for more investment in the channel??? The fuck else do you think it is??? More share of glitter bombs??? Stephen clearly said in his video that what he asked was "what can I do to increase my share in growing the channel?". And by portraying Stephen as someone who used us as a threat Dan wanted to achieve the goal of making us leave ActuallyStephen, again, manipulation.
18. 34:59 - Daniel is not even trying to hide it at this point, he literally says Stephen wants his fans to attack Dan. What. The. Fuck. Stephen clearly said in the description of BOTH videos, NOT TO ATTACK DAN. Bitch are you blind???
19. 36:18 - If you're gonna start treating the animators well then maybe actually start paying them reasonable wage??? And yeah I'm not gonna bother getting a new timestamp for when Dan said he is trying his best to treat the animators well. But bitch it's so obvious you ain't, Pau agreed to make art for Jay's video because she agrees with what he was gonna say. If Dan really is treating the animators well, they wouldn't be getting slave wages. It's so clear to me that this few mins is the fakest part of the whole video.
20. Animator pay - This is literally the only part I agree with Dan on to this point, I do not believe that what Stephen and Jay said Dan did was legal, and he would've been sued if he actually made them sign something. But what Stephen said about trapping the animators is by not supplying them with enough pay to sustain themselves in the gap of trying to find another job after leaving DanPlan, and I also believe that Dan actually underpaid the animators since the animators actually confirmed it.
21. Animator interviews - Dan literally never mentioned how much he actually pay the animators here, the animator pay is a huge part of this drama, and if Dan was actually paying the animators their deserved wage, he would've mentioned it since it can turn this whole thing around on the spot, but he didn't.
22. 45:33 - Dan made it seem like Stephen said he can't post these videos??? But Stephen said in the chat Dan showed that he is still ok with Dan posting the audio??? And "now they'll never see the light of the day because of the actions he took"??? Bro Stephen said he's fine with posting the videos, if Dan's pride or the fans is the thing keeping the videos from getting posted then don't make it look like it's all Stephen's fault.
23. 49:21 - This is the one thing I don't understand why people attack Dan on. In this situation, removing the merch and icons were what he should've done, if he didn't remove the merch then it would've meant that he was still making money off of somebody that left the channel because of his bullshit, and Dan would've gotten attacked even more when the fans realize that :/
***Lil bit of general things:***
First of all, if you had the patience to make it this far, thank you so much. The following is just gonna be bullet points cause god this thread is long as fuck.
* Dan showed discord chat screenshots mostly, but they can be photoshopped, that's one of the reasons social media conversation screenshots have to go through a bunch of verification to actually be used as valid evidence in court.
* I felt like Dan made the video purposefully very long. This can achieve two effects: one, making a long video can give viewers' subconscious the impression that what the video is saying is truthful. And two, by exposing viewers to a certain thing for a longer time make them more, for the lack of a better word, attached to them, causing them to sympathize with the video more.
That's all, thank you for reading this whole thing.
