I wish that beloved show/book/movie/game you enjoyed were better.

I'm not saying that it was bad. Obviously, there was something magical about it if it was beloved by you. I just mean - I want you spoiled. I want it to be better, even more magical. So that every moment was delectable.

I know it's a silly thing, but wishes are allowed to be silly.

There are so many things that we loved - despite. Despite that one episode or scene that we skip when we rewatch. Despite that one level we slog through. Despite what that one actor did so we exclude them from fanart or fanfiction. Despite what that one creator did so we pull away our money. Despite how that season turned out so we skip it or rewrite. Despite, despite, despite. And those despites do chip away at it - until we're left in a state where we can't truly call it beloved anymore.

And I know we are all somewhere along those stages of despite with something that was beloved. Part of that is simply growing up, being able to see those problems. Part of that is learning the world beyond that initially-beloved thing. I just wish, silly and impractical as it is, that it were better than it was.

Maybe I just miss the days when we had a beloved with no despite attached.

The insomnia has gripped me once more, but at least it's been productive. I'm plotting out another story.

My WIP pile is weeping.

I'm also getting major deja vu from this.

New office chair came in.

Put that shit together despite the stupid instructions that were hella vague and only moderately helpful for my insomnia ridden ass.

But that ass is happy. Because now I can sit without thwaping myself in the back with metal.

Sometimes I forget that some people haven't been on Tumblr long enough to understand the point of tags.

If you're a fan of a thing, don't go into an anti-thing tag and then get mad that the posts there aren't celebrating the thing.

The anti-thing tag isn't an insult. It's not declaring that you need to come and wage war. It's there to label the post. It tells people "This isn't in favour of the thing. So fans of the thing won't be interested. This post is for someone else"

And GASP. You can block the tag. That way you won't have to see posts that aren't in favour of the thing! That's another reason why people use tags.

So people can find posts they like and avoid posts they don't!

I swear.

Going into a tag you know isn't for you is like walking into someone's bedroom and being mad they have their bed in the corner instead of under the window. Get over it. You didn't have to walk in there. Either chill and vice or leave to go back to your bed-under-the-window rooms.

I’d like to add this photo I took last night in Victoria of the statue of Captain Cook. Though I myself am not indigenous, I 100% agree that these murderers, kidnappers and rapists shouldn’t have huge statues and plaques that decorate them and say how “great” they were.

Here’s another photo of the legislative assembly from yesterday. Later on there were more items, candles and signs at the memorial, as well as a big poster with 1505 painted on it but I didn’t get a picture

People need to see this. Not just quickly glance at the photos and keep on scrolling. They need to see this.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

Man on twitter said Laufey looked like an 80 year old crackhead. This was after complaining about gods being depicted as old. And burying his head in the sand in regards to the multiple gods that are depicted as old. And, of course, getting mythology wrong by calling Hephaestus a lesser deity and ignoring that the Norse gods can age.

Zeus with wrinkles is apparently 30-40s. Odin with wrinkles and balding is apparently 30-40s, but Laufey is apparently 80 and on crack.
