My big pineapple plant. It's almost 2 years old. No fruit yet. I raised it from a store-bought pineapple fruit.
These are the offspring of my pineapple. I used the head of a store-bought pineapple. I let it grow roots in water. Then i potted it. It magically grew three side shoots which I then seperated. I have one other plant which is more than a year old and very big (see next post). No fruit yet though.
Bell peppers. I have three plants in my garden.
Stevia. It's growing nicely. I put it in my ice tea. I usually cut of the top half of two or three stems for 2quart of tea. I put them in the hot tea so the sweetness comes out. I swear i don't need to add any sugar at all for my sweet ice tea. Amazing herb.
Summer garden. I love my vincas. I think they are so far my qickest growing and longest blooming flowers. And best of all I got them for a dollar at Lowes. Check out my bananas. Still there and growing.
Bananas!
My banana tree has a flower. I couldn’t believe my eyes. How cool it looks.
Shed renovation (DIY) - after
We painted the unfinished wood walls white. It makes the small shed look much bigger and cleaner. We put up a few shelves and a peg board. The shelf in front of the window (first picture) is made from reclaimed wood (left over bed slats). Installing a few big hooks for the cable mess is very helpful. And whoever said that there can’t be any plants in the shed. I chose plants that can stand the heat.
Shed renovation (DIY) -before
I wish I had made a before-picture before I ripped out all the old shelves and materials. Believe me it was way messier and uglier. A shed without any good organizing opportunities.
Also my cats’ garden
Rigby and Strawberry love their backyard. Amazingly, they never climb the fence to explore more. The garden and the house is all they need. What good cats we have.
Flower mix
Canna lilies, philodendron, hydrangeas, snapdragons Aztec grass, and many other perennials keep my landscaping visually appealing Spring through Summer.
Stone planter
Does anybody know which plants do well in a stone planter like this? I had some trouble with plants dying. Perhaps I should renew the soil. It’s probably my fault. One vinca from last year, though, magically grew and bloomed beautifully, while the rest of the vincas died. A month ago I planted wax begonias and zinnias. I also transplanted a newly rooted snake plant, which I thought would do good in dryer conditions.
Corner Patio DIY
Before
After
It took me probably 4 trips to the Home Depot because I totally miscalculated how many stones I’d need. Well, It ended up to be more than you would think for such a small corner. At first I tried to even out the ground as best as I could. Then I spread out paving sand. Then I started putting on the pavers. At last I swept more paving sand into the gaps. The plants in the corners cost me nothing because I thinned out the flax lilies I already had. They grow roots quickly and will spread out more.
My front yard with aztec grass, variegated flax lily, peter pan agapanthus, and roses.
Flexible garden hose
Before
After
I love the new flexible hose. It works wonderfully. No kinking. And looks way better.
Strawberry under the lemon tree
This morning everything was quiet. The bird babies are big now and left their save nest. All that’s left is an empty nest with a lot of bird poop. :-)
