In 18th-century Madrid, a pregnant woman who was in labor was struck and killed by a carriage as she walked in front of the San Carlos Royal College of Surgery. When nobody knew her name or claimed her body, the surgeons at the school decided to use her corpse with which to learn anatomy. Handlers then created a mold from her body and filled it with wax, creating this striking sculpture that can still be seen today at the Complutense University School of Medicine.

A lot of fortune teller and some vintage circus imagery is based upon Romani stereotypes and dress. This also goes with witch imagery (stealing children was mainly a romani stereotype that was LATER attributed and added to Jewish stereotypes). “Gypsy” witchcraft and especially curses are not real and have never been a major part of our culture. Anyone who tells you otherwise is most likely fauxmani (like pretendian it’s either someone who claims to be of romani descent or straight up just gadje claiming to be romani).
