Rain drops fell from the sky, leaving glowing wet spots across the surface of the earth, the bright moon reflecting its light in them. The clock in his watch stroke midnight, though he did not bother to pull up his sleeve to look at it. The cold liquid of the endless falling rain increased the weight of his hair as it absorbed the water, giving it a some sort of darker colour than usual. Still, some drops took the liberty to slide down his bangs and continued their way down his cheek, and eventually joining in the small pools on the surface of the cold ground. The young man did neither bother to wipe the wetness off his face. His thoughts got the better of him, overwhelming his mind till he was in a state of absolute silence. His heart, beating, but also aching horribly. It could not possibly last long without the missing piece that had left a massive hole in its center. With every beat it did, the pain seemed to increase and traveled all the way through every vain in his body. This pain had been present ever since the man had realised the one he loved, who had never returned from her mission, would in fact never return at all. With his arms calmly hanging by his sides, his face directed skywards, his eyes started to get used to the light of the area around him. The rain continued to fall like it would last forever. Saturn thought the misery taking place in almost his whole life would end one day, but he was deadly wrong. At the other side, the many grunts that once crowded the hallways of the headquarter -well, some of them-, had reached that destination. Several did have families and did have placed to go home to. But for Saturn, having no idea what all the previous events had truly meant, it was all just a deep pit of misery and hopelessness in which he had nearly drowned. She was gone. The one person that had promised to stick by his side forever, that they would form the perfect team. The one person he truly cared about. Nothing of the reality of those words were left. Not one promise was kept and she did not even look back at him when she left, nor warned him. Between the many feelings in him was disappointment, and maybe a bit of betrayal. He had always feared to be betrayed one day, so it hit him hard when that word got its realistic form. Every now and then, several grunts glared through the windows of the building once they noticed their commander in charge standing there, soaking himself in the rain. Some whispering to each other and weren’t quite sure to approach him or not. But what they did not know, was that he wasn’t just standing there to think. He was waiting. Waiting for the one he desired to receive in the tight embrace of his arms one day, planting a firm kiss with his lips on her forehead that made her smile, and form a slight shade of pink on each of her cheeks. He wanted her to know what he wished for the most, what he desired. He wished, if she would return one day, that he would be gifted the liberty to tell her about everything he felt. About how much he loved her, how much he had always loved her. She meant the world to him. He only wished she knew. But that night, while he waited for something impossible, nothing came.
