Lately there’s been a lot of animosity directed at EatYourKimchi, especially here on Tumblr. People are being misled into thinking that Simon and Martina are bad people and that all they do is rag on idols. I made this gifset because I wanted to remind the kpop fandom of some of the things that EatYourKimchi has said that many people seem to have forgotten. They do love kpop. They do respect idols even though they joke about them. Making fun of things is not all of what they do, but that is what the kpop fandom seems to believe nowadays. Stop focusing on the few mistakes that they’ve made, and remember everything else they’ve done: they are not bad people. They are a fun, lighthearted and beautiful couple that have enhanced many experiences in the kpop fandom. Even if they have not done so for you, they have made thousands of people laugh with their carefree spirit. This is super nice of you to post, and I see your point. I agree some of the hatred thrown at them is quite vicious. BUT that does not erase problematic things they have said in the past. Most of the dislike for them stems from certain interactions and videos and their response to netizens calling EYK out on their problematic behavior—they were defensive and showed no interest in adjusting or apologizing. That’s where the hate comes from. Please don’t tone-police; if someone is angry and offended by something EYK did, that angry person can be angry and say angry things. That doesn’t mean they are harassing, stalking, or abusing. That would be a different situation.

You can be a good person with good intentions and still say and do shitty things.

Simon and Martina are absolutely nice nice people just trying to do what they love. BUT THEY HAVE MADE MISTAKES AND THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR SAYING PROBLEMATIC THINGS. That’s all. That’s what the “haters” want.

 The important thing is responding maturely and making steps to correct yourself, and in several instances (I don’t have the time and effort to detail them, but there is a post somewhere) they did not do that.
