How I cope with writers block
AO3 appreciation post!! reblog if you love archive of our own
I hate how bot comments on ao3 are making more and more writers disable their comments and lock their works so that only people with registered accounts can access their works (because while some of these bots are from registered accounts and therefore locking your fics won’t guarantee that you will be safe from them, a lot of them are commenting as guest users so locking fics helps a little), because there are so many genuine readers who read and comment on fics without having their own registered accounts.
these bots are not only annoying and harmful (if you fell for their lies and gave them money, an access to your personal informations), they’re also keeping artists and art from genuine audiences and destroying the community artists built with their audiences.
this is a post to say fuck you every bot out there.
WITH EVERY REBLOG THIS POST GETS, A BOT WILL DIE
also here’s how to spot and deal with bot comments
There are boys doing this?
I'd have used it as a sponge. Why is it so dry? And they put it in milk? DIABOLICAL! 😂
Your symptoms don’t have to perfectly match the stereotypical view of the disorder.
No, you don’t have to have extremely distinctive alters or switch 24/7 to have DID/OSDD/PDID.
No, you don’t have to feel empty and sad 24/7 to be considered to have depression.
No, you don’t have to be super clean, tidy, and “perfectionistic” to have OCD.
No, you don’t have to be hyperactive externally to match an ADHD diagnosis (there’s inattentive, quiet types too)
Most of all disorders live on a spectrum, and within that spectrum are several smaller spectrums for each symptom. Everyone poses their symptoms differently, and every experience is very unique. The overall “umbrella” of a disorder is just for: 1) insurance diagnostic reasons and 2) to better relate someone’s experience to a broader experience.
The experience and symptoms you have matter a lot more than the label.
Like, this person GETS IT!! 😭
I've always asked myself, what is truth? Why do most of us accept something as "truth" just because someone with authority said it was correct? Real? How is it truth when someone drops out of college and succeeds but a lie to themselves when they don't succeed as other's percieve? How is the Christian and Muslim certain of their religion as TRUTH? I've accepted that truth is no longer one thing.
There's perceptive truth, there's truth that's inevitable, there's truth that happened.
And in the end (to not confuse myself as I believe I already have to y'all) Truth is an observation. Truth is WHAT HAPPENED, lie or not. How you feel, how you don't. That's why I don't attach myself to labels because they don't really go to depth when it comes to truth. (I'm genuinely NOT trying to be rude.) But saying your mother loves you is a PERCIEVED truth you believe. The observed truth would be, she remembers you when getting something, she always checks up on you.
She cooks your favourite meal. And this, is also what I see truth as. What do y'all think truth is?
Okay, guys, I need to stay consistent. From now on, I'll write a check in on the days until I'm done writing my first book. (I'll place the content underneath but I will place my check in and word count so I can at least feel responsible to put something on paper.)
Okay, another question. Which of you became writers because your parents were also writers?
I'm genuinely curious (you will see this random thoughts from time to time, I will soon get serious with planning content so, my apologies) But writers, what is the one trope type or plot you can't write? I don't mean something you believe you haven't measured up to, I mean something you find sickening or depressing or annoying or anything that you'll NEVER put on paper and why won't you write it?
I remember when I was in high school and would write obsessively like I was running out of time! I'd also get excited when I thought of giving those novels to my classmates. Now I'm in college and can't put a pen down, all I do is anticipate the potential of plots over and over again till I can't summon the strength to write! Spirits of motivation, POSSESS ME! 😭
If you had 2 valuable magic stones left in your pocket, which would you bet on one of these cliche romance tropes to succeed?
1. Billionaire and Broke girl (A rich man for all my days.) 🥺
2. There's only one bed (single beds have sealed our fate) 🛏️
3. Fake Dating (we're not in love, I SWEAR) 😮💨
4. Love Triangles (I have two hands but one heart) 💔
5. Amnesia (oh my bad, forgot my soulmate.) 🧠
What trope interests you more and which irks you? 🤧

The moment hyperfixation pays you a visit and leaves without saying good bye 😭
Hey guys! I just recently joined Tumblr as a way to stay consistent in my writing journey as an ADHD writer. Is there anyone facing the same problems?
I hope hyperfixation kicks in
Why is my writing so boring?
Great question - and a struggle we can all sympathize with. Honestly, I had an entire discussion prepared and ready to go. Then I found this quote, which articulates the solution succinctly:
“This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music. Music. The writing sings. It has a pleasant rhythm, a lilt, a harmony. I use short sentences. And I use sentences of medium length. And sometimes, when I am certain the reader is rested, I will engage him with a sentence of considerable length, a sentence that burns with energy and builds with all the impetus of a crescendo, the roll of the drums, the crash of the cymbals–sounds that say listen to this, it is important.”
—Gary Provost
So: how do you write less boring? One of the puzzle pieces is sentence length.

I found this from a creator and it stuck with me
