Ppl have this preconceived notion that bc Athena is the goddess of wisdom then that must mean she’s “wise” in that she has modern morals so when they realize that she’s just as complex and flawed as the other gods they feel ‘betrayed’ by her. Hence why some retellings punish her for the supposed betrayal like with ‘I, Medusa’ having Athena get beaten and threatened with rape by Poseidon.
